And one thing I told him, if he doesn't make a move like this, there's nothing stopping a free agent next year from (joining the Warriors in this spot). (If he doesn't sign with the Warriors), he loses an opportunity where he's in complete control and has his own choice and he took advantage of it.

Folks not getting on KD for joining a team with two max players, they are on him for going to the team who beat his team and jumping on a team that had the best record ever. Now for that LeBron comparison to be accurate it would be him signing on the Lakers with Kobe, after they beat his team coming back from three games back, or Curry signing with the Cavs after losing to them in the finals.
