Official BGOL Crypto Currency Thread ★★★★★

I don't think I'm being lazy and I don't expect someone to put 126 pages in a few sentences, was hoping someone who has been keeping up with the thread could summarize their thoughts on the topic and maybe post a link to an article they thought was on point.

Okay I'll summerize:

This thread was created to draw interest in Ripple (XRP) with links, how to videos, instructions etc. (page 1-4). Upon starting this thread it turned into a learning opportunity for those of us who are new to crytocurrencies (pages 5-25). A lot of info sharing about certain coins, exchanges, tools strategies etc pages 25-90. A lot of chatter about collecting on gains since the inception of this thread (pages 90-118). Pages 119-126 people spending time responding to newcommers just noticing the thread after it was stickied.

There you go

You left out back and forth bickering

fellas.... believe litecoin is going to pump here soon. it only needs 5-7 days more of the signaling at >75% to begin segwit. now if that happens, you will want to keep an eye on it.
I'm also trying to figure out how to get more XRP and BTC...both are going to pump esp BTC based on the cointelegraph news from india and Russia (reversing their stance on BTC-they wanted to ban, now they may be looking to endorse).

india news: https://cointelegraph.com/news/lega...-to-be-addressed-at-global-summit-by-assocham

BTC news: https://cointelegraph.com/news/the-big-three-how-china-india-japan-set-pace-for-bitcoin

this is why z-cash pumped hard recently: https://cointelegraph.com/news/apple-accepts-zcash-as-legitimate-cryptocurrency-now-available-on-ios

someone was saying something about cryptocurrency needing to be unregulated....guess what....its really going to be the wild wild west.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitc...the-us-as-obscure-nixon-era-law-came-to-light

excerpt from article:

The Monopoly Act was passed and signed into law Aug. 5th of 1974, barely noticed during a time of political turmoil and a mere four days before Richard Nixon became the first American president to resign from office.

The wording of the bill, however, provides an unintended loophole for cryptocurrency:

"No token, bill, virtual currency, or counterfeit money, whose purpose it is to parody legal tender or otherwise serve as a novelty, and where such can be demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt, shall be subject to taxation, regulation, or licensing by any branch of government, but shall instead enjoy free and unrestricted exchange. (emphasis added)”

On Friday, a federal judge ruled that cryptocurrencies are, by virtue of lack of a physical form and issuing bank, by definition virtual currency and as such current financial regulations do not apply.

this is huge and could possibly mean NO TAXES...and the IRS cant come after you for taxes on your Crypto.

Intresting. I was just gonna bring up how do I go about mentioning this on my taxes because I am making some $$$ that they might wanna know about.....guess not

This would be crazy if true.

I'm assuming this is if you keep everything in crypto. What about if you convert to USD. Your bank suddenly receiving a ton of money is going to throw up flags.

Family this was an April Fool's joke unfortunately.

Once tax season is over I'll chime in regarding tax affect of crypto because there are several.

That's where you may want to take a trip to the Cayman Islands. :)
That Cayman Island stuff is not easy to pull off without them boys lurking to snag you... If you ever plan to spend the funds here in the US you're on the hook easy for them to nail your ass to the wall. Even skimming that link you posted a while back made that clear so unless you got a plug the Cayman Islands doesn't seem to be that great of an option. No shade, I'm just looking for a viable option...

So I've been on this since day one but I have a quick question.

So say I want to actually sell bitcoins and deposit it into my account. What's the best site to do this? Has anyone actually just said fuck it and showed their photo ID on Coinbase or is there an easier way?

Question. How hard would it be to transfer the money from here into a lets say tdameritrade account. Invest it into a stock that pays quarterly dividends and most importantly avoids a tax hit?

bought 150,000 DGB at 70 sats, it's now at 110.. thinking about at least doubling that. Once news of DGB getting segwit could make it take off

Yup!

I bought 100k at 62 like $80 worth and just sold half on the double.

BTW does anyone else sell half at the double?

These Crypto guys on twitter got into a major beef over investment strategies.

Most said to hold as few bags as possible and flip to Bitcoin as soon as you hit a double digit return, others said to hold longer if its rising steady like Stratis.

Never been an investment guy before I admittedly let my emotions rule sometimes.

For instance, Stratis I've got a 500% return but I'm unwillingly to sell because I know it will be $1 soon and $5 within a year.

One dude told me to pull out my original $1k investment and put it on another good project like Sys or Nav.

Another chimed in and said to "HODL THAT SHIT!" using my same logic that Stratis is the next big coin.

Any ideas fam? How do yall manage profits?

That's good info period. I'm not an "investor" guy, but I am learning and making some profits here and there. I try to get in and out. I'm stacking on the low low coins for future gains. I have some money in stocks so I kind of swing trade there. Still learning but waaaaaay more educated than I was pre Ripple post.

I'd say pull out your original investment and let the rest be your lottery ticket.
This isn't stock and many use a "stock market logic" which doesn't work here.
This is a new and volatile world.
Hold ANY coin that has substance or a good idea behind it.

I got to echo this. I'm holding BTC, ETH, XRP, and Z-Cash. I trade LTC, DASH, and others
