►► OFFICIAL UFC 205: Alvarez vs McGregor - Nov. 12th, 2016 - New York, NY

Cowboy has length, muai Thai skills (clench) and he admitted that heet Diaz get in his head that fight and that is where he learned his lesson. He also has ground skills which is the style matchup I think would be good for McGregor.
The problem is that he has to survive Conor's initial buzz saw to use any of those skills, and to do that he'll need to either withstand an insane amount of damage first (Diaz), or use damn near Matrix-like head movement (early A. Silva). I've watched Cowboy fight for years, and I have yet to see him do either.

I know right? Its so strange how that shit works lol.

That's why we pretty much have to SEE all these fights cuz so many factors come into play.

I don't wanna see Mcgregor fight any more short wrestler types. He owns them.
I feel ya...but in THIS case & fight BOTH these guys where exactly the same size..Connor had the 4" reach advantage but def NOT the short wrestler type in this fight.

Watchin the fights now, all off the chain so far:

Damn, how did thompson survive the choke in round 4?
Woodley gave this fight away not being aggressive in 2/3/5. One of these tied = easy victory

You try being aggressive in the 5th round after holding a guillotine for damn near 2 mins straight in the 4th lol

I think he can. I'd like to see it. In order to touch him Conor would have to reach out like he did Diaz. I dunno, I'd just rather see him go against taller guys who have a strong striking base. I think it's a good matchup

This is McGregor's natural weight division (155), even though his natural weight is a division up (170). He's supposed to do well. He said himself, a fighter would have to have some physical advantage to offset his skillset. Neither Alvarez or Aldo had any such physical advantages. Woodley would punch a hole clean through McGregor's torso. He should stick to fighting men his size or smaller. We see what 5th ranked Diaz did to him.

So was all that talk that EVERYONE was talking about EDDIE never gets rattled and he's been here and that Connor could NEVER deal with a fighter like Alvarez blah blah blah..are you saying that ALL that talk was Frivolous?aka BULLSHIT?

I'm not a UFC fan so last night was the first match I've seen of Alvarez. Not knowing his history, Alvarez looked out of place and nervous (pacing back and forth quickly) while Conor looked confident.

Moreover, it appears Alvarez was at a reach disadvantage so I'm not sure why he didn't stick with the low kicks.

Overall, Conor made that shit look too easy. I noticed he started in a low stance which leads me to believe he's heavily influenced by Capoeira. The Capoeira influence may explain his composure and counter strategy.

Size does not make fights, reach does when you have a fighter or coach that can't get past it. Frankie Edgar was the LW champ and they say he could even fight at 135. Woodley is a bad fight for him..but my point to you is that what Nate did should not be a sign for people the way they say it is. Nate has beat the shit out of many a LW
and has one of the best chins ever. He has only been stopped once and that was a headkick after a terrible camp where he came in out of shape. Nobody really tooled Nate in striking unless they ran from him. He gets beat by wrestling.

He'd be practically unbeatable :itsawrap:
Conor is going to take the Chuck Liddell route. Don't even participate with the ground shit. Strong take down defense and the ability to get back to your feet is all you
really need, because at the end of the day pretty much all these fighters are too sloppy on the feet..the ones that are a bit more precise are too small or weak for Conor and guys that are absolutely lethal on the ground are going to beat most guys, not just Conor. But if he catches them with the left ahead of time...game over.

Conor is dope. He cracks me up and he can fight his ass off. The only thing that irks me is that he can be over the top and be cheered because he is white but a black fighter needs to be humble at all times to still get booed. Not Conor's fault but it just annoys me.
I feel like people cheer their own for the most part. I know, I love when fighters talk that shit..I loved Mayweather for it..the Irish support their boy..whites loved Sonnen.
But the UFC crowd is full of NASCAR type people. If you have been watching a while you will know they love to boo black fighters. Rashad wasn't half as bad as Conor, but when he knocked out Liddell he automatically became the bad guy.

Of course, size alone does not make fights, but size does in fact make a difference in a fight. Again, even Conor McGregor himself said size makes a difference in a fight against him. HE said that. Are you disagreeing with his statement about himself?

@55:21 he ain't fucking around. he about that equity

"this guy has never once tried to re-negotiate his contract, not once " -Dana White.

"if they want me to keep doing this, they need to change my contract. I feel i've outgrown that contract. I want a piece of equity" - Conor mcgregor

Enjoyed the card. Had to focus at the out-of-town party as there were many people and plenty of background noise. People talking constantly, etc.

Some definitive stoppages during the televised prelims.

A solid fight with Edgar and Stephens.

Tate and her nice titties apparently retiring after losing the lead-off fight on the main card.

Good fight and great knee from Romero in his fight with Weidman. GDamn ... he blasted him like Michael Page did Cyborg Santos earlier this year in Bellator.

Another good title fight from Joanna J'. She's an elite fighter, but it's cool to see her past 3 opponents hanging tough in there with her and going the full 25 mins. They are outclassed and outskilled, but it's damn impressive seeing them going the full duration with her, as we don't learn enough about either fighter with quick KOs and TKOs. Karolina put that bruising and/or hematoma along Joanna's temple too - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joanna_Jędrzejczyk#Mixed_martial_arts_record

Good scrap with Woodley and Thompson. Fun seeing the tides turn in there and Thompson barely surviving later in the fight, but regaining his composure. Big fan of both Woodley and him.

Conor McG is cashing some serious checks, damn. Hell ... imagine the PPV bonus incentives he's cashed last July and December, and this March, August, and November. Several being amongst the highest-selling cards in the sport's history.

Props to Ferguson earlier this month with his big win over RDA in Mexico too. Him and Max Holloway are amassing those major winning streaks in 145 and 155lbs respectively.

crazy how mcgregor punched eddie 4 times in the face as eddie fell
looking at it over and over, Conor knew exactly how Eddie comes in every time and knew exactly where to punch. And Eddie didn't even attempt to do anything different. It's one thing to be able to catch someone coming in, another to be able to HURT them coming in, and he does it damn near every time. That left hand is a WEAPON.

Khabib wants a shot, but the fucker has bailed out of fights like 4 times in the last 2 years.

His grappling is as insane as COnors standup. But the fights start on the feet

Some people like to hate on Conor McGregor but I like dude he's a professional at what he does and he's EARNED everything he Now has and IMO it's just ridiculous for ANYONE to hate on THAT!
