Back again for the MaY BeaT BaTTLe
This month's theme was making a the best "jiggy/shiny suit era" beat using a 70's or 80s funk/disco loop. Feedback is always welcome and encouraged both good and bad. (Actually feedback is half the reason we do this)

Has Fake Dr Truth ever joined these competitions? Isn't she supposed to be an "established" producer?

And you are faggot? I'm sorry but if your bitch ass knows what's best for you you wont mention my name again or I'll embarrass the shit out you on here.

I liked Self Science the most but for the theme have to go with Skinny

Honorable mention to WTF

Good stuff brothers.

Its good stuff in all of these beat battles...but I gotta ask....is every one gonna be sample based? It's very one dimensional and there's a whole world of production that doesnt include the use of samples. I'm just wondering if the scope of the beat battle will ever broaden.

They are not going to all be sample based. We had a participation issue beat makers/voters so I took over management. The way I got it set up the winner decides the stipulation. I was going to do a west coast beat battle but I opted to tread lightly until we got more participation. I almost posted a Linn Drum kit and told dudes to make a beat with that but like I said my first go around as coach I had to make it both easy and fun on both beat makers and voters. So yeah that's the plan.

I think Skinny brings up a good point. Our participation already treads to non-existent at times. Personally, I am no position to make a beat without a sample. I do not have the kits/equipment to make a beat without sampling 'something'. Plus I have a real stubborn earn for music, so my versatility does not veer much outside what I am use to listening to.

I think you did right homie. Shit isn't always going to be gravy and you're definitely not going to satisfy everyone's choice of battle. In my opinion, these battles are a "get in where you fit in" type thing. Nobody is winning prize money or record deals, but it been fun. Like Silenking mentioned, there is a broader world of beat making. I'll never know what I am capable of doing unless pushed to those limits.

cool...makes sense. I usually end up missing them cuz I just dont check the thread enough...but I try to at least vote. Most of my gear has been in storage for a while but I got joints on my drives I could enter. Look forward to more battles. Good luck with the management.

The majority ruled. Looks like WTFruLookinAt won with the Patrice Rushen flip. Also winning the right to decide stipulations for the next battle. Congratulations.

Thanks fam... I appreciate it...gotta give it up, you got serious skills...all love...

SelfScience, thanks, bruh...I'm loving what you cats brought to the table...much respect.

Let's piggyback off of Skinnie & Silentking's idea...Let's go without using any samples...drop your hardest, dirtiest, grimiest beat using just drums and Instruments...and live vocal recordings if needed...if vocals are used, cats should post a clip of your vocals so we can all verify that they're not sampled.

Let's get it...
