Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered edition is coming to PC and consoles

Surviving Mars with the aid of a sledgehammer

Vienna/Austria, March 29th, 2018; THQ Nordic Red Faction Guerrillawill be fully re-Mars-tered (pun proudly intended) and released on PC, PlayStation®4 and across the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X in Q2 2018. The game will go by the name of Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered and "destruction" will remain its middle name.

More information on the release date will be announced in due time.

One random yet fun fact about Mars (in real-life): At a height of 25km, Olympus Mons on Mars is the largest volcano in the Solar System and is nearly three times as tall as Mount Everest:

About Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered
Set 50 years after the climactic events of the original Red Faction, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to take the role of an insurgent fighter with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force. Red Faction: Guerrilla still defines the limits of destruction-based game-play with a huge open-world, fast-paced guerrilla-style combat, and true physics-based destruction.

Features

  • Open World Guerrilla Warfare - You decide who, when, where and how to battle. Utilize guerrilla tactics, improvised weaponry, and modified vehicles to lead insurgent attacks on EDF targets. Launch attacks based on your own gameplay style, take on missions in any order you choose, or engage in destructive activities to weaken the EDF's grip on Mars.
  • Strategic Destruction - Use destruction to your tactical advantage, setting ambushes or chain reaction explosions to attack enemy strongholds and permanently modify the game environment. Leverage fully-dynamic physics-based destruction to improvise on the fly: blow holes in a wall or floor to set an ambush or escape, take out a staircase to stop your pursuers, or drive vehicles through blown out walls.
  • Evolving & Emergent Gameplay - Carve your path through an ever changing landscape as you improvise your combat tactics - mixing gameplay styles, vehicles, weapons and explosives to defeat the EDF.
  • Epic Sci-Fi Setting - Explore the huge, unforgiving Martian landscape, from the desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of Eos; then tear through the fully destructible open-world environments swarming with EDF forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers caught in the cross-fire.
  • Multiplayer Combat - There is no place to hide when you put your guerrilla warfare skills to the test in a variety of highly destructive multiplayer combat modes.

Ask Undead Labs Anything About State of Decay 2 – IGN First

We've been covering State of Decay 2 all month long as part of IGN First, and to close things out at the end of the month we offered you a chance to ask the developers at Undead Labs your burning questions about the zombie-apocalypse-survival sequel. And now they have answered!

GIGGITY_G00 asks: Can other players kill you?

Other players might be able to create a situation that gets your survivor killed (accidentally or intentionally) but State of Decay 2 is focused on cooperative survival and there is intentionally no friendly fire and no deliberate PVP. The theme for State of Decay 2’s co-op is surviving together, and you need allies for that!

Ahmed Chandab asks: Is 4 player coop going to make to scale the games difficulty?

The game’s difficulty doesn’t scale dynamically with the number of players. Zombies still take a single headshot. The intent is that pulling other players into your game gives you the feeling of strength in numbers and that it might be easier to survive together. That said, more players typically means that you’re making more noise, which in turn attracts more zombies for you to deal with. In general, it’s usually advantageous to have a good fighter (and friend) watching your back.

Uneeda_Slap asks: How many vehicles are in the game? And will they be customizable with weapons and extra storage?

The game includes over 40 different vehicles (not including color variations). The game also includes vehicle upgrade kits which transform your car or truck into a specialized apocalypse-ready vehicle of mass destruction. You might occasionally find one of these upgrade kits available from a wandering trader, but more often you’ll craft them at home (assuming your community has the right mix of skills and facilities).

GurtX asks: Shared storage space between bases is a must and also I think traps and fence building would be a great addition. Are those in the game?

Each player has their own base, with its own storage locker. You have access to everything in your storage locker from your base, as well as from any outpost you’ve claimed. Whenever you relocate your community to a new base, everything in your storage locker moves with you. In multiplayer, when you open a storage locker in any base or outpost, you’ll see your own community’s inventory. Players can’t access each other's community storage directly, but can withdraw their own items and give them to others if they choose. Many “traps” can be crafted and placed in the world, from flashy distractions to explosive mines to other remote-activated goodies. Bases have varying levels of predetermined fencing and overall defensibility. Choosing a more-defensible base over a less-defensible base is part of the decision every player faces when selecting their home (along with the site’s overall size, special built-in facilities, and other aspects).

y2g2003 asks: What happens when you complete the story mode of this game? Does the game end and credits roll or can players keep progressing through the game?

State of Decay 2 doesn’t have a typical “story mode”, but each Community has its own story that is composed from a dynamic narrative system. Every player’s experience is unique to their decisions and the consequences of the choices that they’ve made. We’re not quite ready to reveal the specifics of what happens when you choose to end your Community’s story, but you definitely have control of when that happens, and if you want a specific Community to continue indefinitely, you can do that.

MonPrince asks: Can we not play Story mode right from the beginning? I don't wanna play it right away...I need some practice before jumping into campaign mode...is it possible? Like start in any of the 3 maps!!??

State of Decay 2’s story is heavily simulation-driven and, for the most part, it’s your choice to engage with it at whatever pace you please. You can select any of the game’s three maps at the end of the game’s tutorial.

55223Dylan asks: Will State of Decay 2 have anything to do with the story of the first game, and if so, will it take place before, after, or during the first game?

State of Decay 2 takes place roughly a year and a half after the events of the first game, and it assumes that the general events of the original storyline (including Lifeline) took place.

Blackiechan123 asks: Does this game require internet all the time, or can I play offline on my travels?

The game does not require internet access to play single-player. Even if you don’t want to play co-op, you will likely have a better experience if you are connected and can download all the latest content as we continue to support the game after its launch.

Deviljho434 asks: Will there be an Assault shotgun in the game, and, if so, will there be special ammo types for it (slug, explosive, spread)?

We have a few assault shotguns in the game, though they’re rare. They use the same basic shotgun ammo as other shotguns (no slugs or other fancy ammo types out of the gate), but they are able to fire in semiautomatic and fully automatic modes. An assault shotgun is also one of the items that comes with the State of Decay 2 Ultimate Edition. All of our shotguns fire multiple pellets within the spread of the reticle. You can find or craft “chokes” (a kind of muzzle attachment) that reduce the spread of any compatible shotgun.

JusDeKiwi asks: Since Undead Labs has previously stated that State of Decay 2 will ship with three maps (each roughly the size of the first game's map), will these maps each be environmentally different or will they be similar environments to what we've seen thus far in IGN's State of Decay 2 coverage?

Each of the maps has a distinct theme and visual identity that represent the local (pre-apocalypse) culture and climate. The overall setting of State of Decay 2 retains the original game’s “small-town Americana” theme, with each map putting its own spin on the concept. The three maps you’ll encounter are the Cascade Hills, nestled at the base of the mountains; Drucker County, which is situated next to a huge gorge; and Meagher Valley, featuring pastoral farmland.

benjaminrw asks: Will there eventually be mod support and what are your thoughts on a custom map creator tool?

We don’t plan to actively prevent mods, but we don’t plan to support them, either.

Fruzy asks: Can human enemies come to your base and raid it?

State of Decay 2 includes many situations where human NPCs may act against your community’s interests, either directly or indirectly.

SODfanboy123 asks: Can you change your survivors clothes or are they permanently how you got them like in the first game?

You cannot, currently, change any survivor’s outfit.

SebastianGreene asks: In developing State of Decay 2, what was one aspect or creative choice that the team found most difficult to agree on?

There was a lot of serious discussion on different aspects of the game. The structure of the dynamic narrative systems that drive the game and whether or not we should do something more linear. Whether or not PvP was appropriate for the game. How multiplayer looting systems should work. The amount of agency that other players could have over your base. How dark the nighttime lighting should be. State of Decay is a massive game with a ton of interlocking systems and changing one of them can have significant repercussions on several others. All game development is a collaborative art project with folks that can be incredibly passionate about their vision for what is best for the game. As a team, we always try to do our best to be receptive to each other’s perspective and feedback while pushing for the decisions that align with our overall goals and vision for State of Decay 2.

Far Cry 5 Breaks Franchise Sales Records

Ubisoft announced that Far Cry 5 more than doubled first week sell-through of Far Cry 4, making Far Cry 5 the fastest selling title in the franchise's history. Digital distribution accounted for more than 50 percent of those sales. Far Cry 5 now represents the second biggest launch ever for a Ubisoft game, following only Tom Clancy's The Division, with $310M USD in consumer spending through the first week.

fc5_infographic_stats_week1_en_321552.jpg

In addition to the strong first week of sales, record-breaking numbers of people are engaging with Far Cry 5 content. People streamed more than 55,000 hours of Far Cry 5 on Twitch and YouTubers' videos earned more than 117 million views. Both are records for a Ubisoft title in a week following launch, and evidence of the impact user generated content is having in convincing players to join the Far Cry community.

"Far Cry 5, like the real Montana, is a vast and gorgeous playground filled with colorful stories for players to enjoy and share," Laurent Detoc, President of Ubisoft, Americas. "We're grateful to newcomers and fans of the series who have joined us in Hope County and have collectively grown our community."

Set in America, a first for the franchise, Far Cry 5 offers players total freedom to navigate a serene-looking yet deeply twisted world as the new junior deputy of fictional Hope County, Montana. Players will find that their arrival accelerates a years-long silent coup by a fanatical doomsday cult, the Project at Eden's Gate, igniting a violent takeover of the county. Under siege and cut off from the rest of the world, players will join forces with residents of Hope County and form the Resistance.

"I'm proud that the culmination of years of passionate work from the team is paying off, and that Far Cry 5's experience resonates with so many people," said Dan Hay, Executive Producer on Far Cry. "We are humbled by players' reception of Far Cry 5 and fired up to keep growing and supporting the Far Cry community in the months and years to come."

Far Cry 5 is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For more information on the game, check out our previous coverage.

ok this is a rant but im sure some might agree.this rant is about the xnoxone x.yea its a cool system and i love it but was it really worth me to pay $500 on top of the xbox one s i just bought?the way they made is sound when phil first announced it was like its gonna be worth the upgrade and it is kinda but the old xboxone is holding the xboxone owners back.example pubg runs great on the xbox one x but its at 30 fps all because of the old xbox one.it can run 60 fps but ol phil was like it would be unfair to the older xbox one users.so now we have to suffer because they cant upgrade there systems.i understand everyone do not have a extra $500 for the system but really all i'm saying is what have we seen different?ok a little better graphics here and there so is that it?no special features, no exclusive apps, games, add ons.i know im not the only one thinking this.let me know what yall think.

Yeah the X is a good system. I wouldn't pay 500 for it though. You can find bundles in stores and websites for as low as 450. If you're trying to get one look for those deals. The S and the OG xbox one is holding the X back. The X is a good system but the developer's are not taking advantage of it. The system can do 4k 60 but the developers have to put in the time to get it there. Look at Far Cry 5 on the X it looks way better than the PS4 Pro. You don't need a 4k tv for the X, but it looks so much better on one. Microsoft should have released a 1st party game to show the power of the X, but they didn't. The games load much faster on the X. If developers don't take advantage of X there's no reason to get one. Microsoft is going back and enhancing old 360 and OG Xbox games, but that may not be enough. Microsoft needs to have their 1st party games show the X power, but they are not putting out any 1st party games. Games like Sea of Thieves, Crackdown, and State of Decay don't show what this system can do. The only other 1st party game coming out this year that may show the power of the X is Forza Horizon 4. Those are all the 1st party games coming out this year for Xbox.

They could've put out a Halo or Gears title with the XBox One X to show case the power of the machine, but every time they talk about those titles people complain about them milking those games. When
Nintendo releases a system or hand held they drop a Mario game or Zelda game with it or with in the year on the console release year to show case the machines abilities. Yet no one complains about Nintendo milking their AAA games. :dunno:

Right now Microsoft is depending on 3rd party to show case the machines power. ex Far Cry 5, Tomb Raider. And those games are sequels LOL, nobody complaining about those games being milked.

You're right Gemini, if they had released a Halo or Gears title with the X the other fanboys would be crying that's all they got. Now the update for Gears 4 looks great in 4k as well as Halo 5 update. Nintendo spams the hell out of Mario and Zelda. True Microsoft is depending on the 3rd party to show the power of the X, but they should be doing that with their 1st party. It all depends on the 3rd party developers, putting in the work on those games to make them stand out on the X.

I love my x....i traded my s and a old ps4 and i got it for 60 bucks.....i would do it again...

New Splinter Cell game

EXCLUSIVE: Microsoft to have marketing rights for Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Splinter Cell, Battlefield V and more

Last year before E3 2017 our sources gave us intel on ReCore Definitive Edition and the Xbox One X which turned out to be mostly accurate aside from a slight price conversion mistake on the X, and now we are back with some more information.

We are about 2 months away from Microsoft’s E3 conference which could have quite a few surprises when it comes to 3rd party titles. Our source has given us a list of 3rd party titles that will have exclusive marketing rights for Xbox One.

Here’s the list of titles that Microsoft should have marketing rights for:

Splinter Cell

Metro Exodus

Cyberpunk 2077

Borderlands 3

Battlefield 5 WW 2

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Anthem

Elder Scrolls 6

Madden NFL 19

There are some titles here that stand out such as a new Splinter Cell which has been rumored for a couple months now, and with fans clamoring for a new entry and Ubisoft’s recent surge of stellar titles, we think now is one of the best times to bring back the series. Borderlands 3 is another one that is more than likely to happen this year as it has been heavily teased in the past, Gearbox Software even going as far as calling it ‘Borderlands 3’ at a panel last PAX East.

Some more obvious ones include EA’s Anthem which had it’s full reveal at Microsoft’s E3 conference last year, and Madden NFL 19, a series which has a long history of Xbox partnerships over the years. Battlefield 5 (name not final) is also set to be revealed this E3, and is supposedly taking us back to WW2. This title and its setting were recently rumored and reported on by various news outlets. EA and Microsoft have been very close business partners recently, so these having exclusive marketing rights with Xbox makes sense.

Crystal Dynamics Shadow of the Tomb Raider is also set to be marketed by Xbox, a move that is much better than having timed exclusivity rights like the previous entry Rise of the Tomb Raider. Timed exclusives are generally viewed as being anti-consumer and fans of the Tomb Raider series will be much happier knowing they won’t be locked out for a year if they chose a different platform.

Metro Exodus is another obvious one, being showcased at Microsoft’s 2017 E3 conference it is more than likely staying on their stage yet again.

CD Projekt RED’s highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 is also set to receive Xbox marketing, and those who have been eagerly awaiting news on this ambitious RPG title shouldn’t have to wait too much longer.

Finally, Elder Scrolls 6 is a big one on that list. Bethesda and Todd Howard have been very quiet on the next entry in the series, but it may finally be close to it’s big reveal. Whether or not it will release this year is unknown (more than likely not) but it is set to get the Xbox marketing treatment. With both the Xbox E3 Briefing and Bethesda’s E3 conference taking place on the same day just hours apart, it is possible that it will get a teaser at the Xbox conference, with gameplay and further details later that night at Bethesda’s event.

Keep in mind this list does not include Xbox exclusives set to be revealed by Microsoft at the conference, plus the chance of a few surprises and changes to their showing. If this were to be the bulk of Microsoft’s 3rd party titles at their conference, would you be satisfied? Let us know and as always stay tuned as we prepare for the fast approaching E3 conference and the news coverage that comes with it in just 2 months!

same future bullcrap.i bet this will be garbage too.

Just started playing WW2. Haven't really played since Modern Warfare 2. I'm only playing the story anyway. Fuck that future crap. I do miss the quotes about war that COD 2 had each time you died.

I actually liked Infinite Warfare's campaign :dunno: as close to a videogame version of The Expanse as one could get..even though they pretty much merked half the characters towards the ending

and speaking of endings  Uibisoft pulling some Mass Effect 3-type mess with Far Cry 5's ending choices
