Xbox One Console Reviews

Ubisoft has announced their fiscal quarter results today and has stated that The a Division is still on track to release in their Fiscal Year 2016, but it’s been moved to Q4 release timeframe. The fourth quarter for Ubisoft is actually between January and March 2016.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft stated the title was on track for this year, but it that seems to have changed. Ubisoft announced last week that four different studios are collaborating on the title, with Massive Entertainmemt leading development.
Rainbow Six Siege is still on track for a 2015 release.

That's a bad release window for The Division. I bet it gets delayed again.

Thats Ubisoft for you..always delaying stuff

yet them Frenchies have no problems when it comes to Assassin's Creed :rolleyes:

NEVERWINTER HITS 1.6 MILLION PLAYERS ON XBOX ONE

Infographic Wednesday continues with Cryptic Studios releasing initial numbers for the launch on XBox One. The numbers are big…surprisingly bigger than I would have expected. It’s only been a little over a month from Neverwinter‘s March 31st console debut and the free to play MMORPG has already pulled in over 1.6 million players.

......
............

......

To keep the drive up, Neverwinter plans to release 5 free expansions (modules) on the XBox One version of the game by the end of the year. These would include Tyranny of Dragons and Elemental Evil, already available on PC.

You have to spend money on gear and such, I'm doing best to avoid this as it my favorite RPG setting, Faerun.

:smh::smh:

looks like Ubisoft starting to take that step..

No More Assassin's Creed Games for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360

With the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One market continuing to grow, Ubisoft announced on Tuesday that it plans to release some--but not all--of its major franchises exclusively for the new consoles.

While Ubisoft will continue to ship Just Dance games on older consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, you shouldn't expect the company's other major series to come to those systems.

"On Just Dance, we will continue to bring old-gen console versions," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said during an earnings briefing this afternoon. "But on the other products like Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, The Division, and the unannounced franchise, we will not have old-gen versions."

Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Rainbow Six: Siege are scheduled to launch later this year for PS4 and Xbox One, while The Division is slated to arrive in early 2016 for those platforms as well. Ubisoft's unannounced game--which Guillemot interestingly referred to as a "franchise"--is due to launch before April 2016.

Syndicate, Siege, and The Division are also coming to PC. Ubisoft has not said if it is bringing any of those games to Wii U.

Last year, Ubisoft released Assassin's Creed Unity for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, while another game--Assassin's Creed Rogue--shipped for Xbox 360 and PS3 before later launching on PC.

Why would Ubisoft move away from Xbox 360 and PS3? The chart below sums it up well. For the company's most recent fiscal year ended March 31, PS4/Xbox One made up 52 percent of all sales, a massive swing from the year prior when those platforms made up just 15 percent of total sales.

Leaked footage of the rumored “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” has surfaced, showing off a snippet of the game running on an Xbox One.

EDIT: The video has been removed from its original location, but you should still be able to find it at this link. You’ll also find a second one right here. Scroll down to check out a handful of screen grabs.

The original video file was simply titled “Xbox One Game”, but the latest rumors suggest the new remastered shooter, which allegedly includes the original Gears of War game with improved visuals, will be called “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition”.
The original video appeared to be running at 60 frames per second.

According to earlier reports, the build currently being played is multiplayer-only and contains modes like Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, 1 Life 1V1 Shotgun TDM, 1V1 Sudden Death Gnashers Only, 4V4 TDM Single Round, and 4V4 KOTH Single Round.
We’ll surely hear more from Microsoft and developer Black Tusk Studios at E3 this year.

Microsoft Punishes Gears Leakers By (Temporarily) Bricking Xbox Ones

1252199281652104773.png

Did you know that Microsoft has the ability to turn purchased Xbox Ones into bricks? Some people are about to find out the hard way very soon.

Over the past couple of days, testers for a contracting company called VMC Games have been leaking out videos from their current project, the upcoming (unannounced) Gears of War remake for Xbox One. As you might expect, neither VMC nor Microsoft is pleased about these videos, and today, the two companies came down hard, telling testers in an e-mail that the leakers have been banned from VMC’s program and will lose access to their Xbox Ones entirely for a period of time to be determined by Microsoft in the future.

Yep, according to VMC, Microsoft has both permanently banned those leakers’ Xbox Live accounts and temporarily made their Xbox Ones totally unusable. If you didn’t think Microsoft had this power, you’re not alone. The digital present is scary. (To be clear: VMC contractors tell us they use their personal consoles for testing, not any sort of debug machines provided by the company.)

Here’s the entire e-mail, obtained by Kotaku this afternoon (emphasis mine):

Hi everyone,

In the light of recent events, we’d like to bring a situation to the community’s attention in attempts to strengthened everyone’s awareness and vigilance regarding the NDA which binds every single one of you to VMC.

Recently, multiple leaks were perpetrated by several GBTN community members. In one case, a member who was participating in that test shared a screenshot on Snapchat with their friend, who wasn’t part of the project, but tricked his friend by saying he didn’t believe him when he said they were working on the same project. Upon reception of the screenshot, the friend who received the Snapchat leaked it online, betraying his friend as well as his NDA with VMC Games. While the tester who first took the screenshot didn’t think he was doing anything bad, he was still going against the NDA, and was part of the cause why the information got leaked. Because of this, both members were permanently removed from the community and addressed to our legal department, as per the terms of the NDA.

Now, new wording is about to reach the community regarding this particular event. The nature of the leak having had occurred through Xbox One, actually also went against the Microsoft EULA, which is agreed upon when creating an Xbox LIVE account, or any other type of Microsoft account. This being said, as per that agreement with the testers in fault, Microsoft also permanently disabled their Xbox LIVE accounts (as well as other suspected accounts present on their Xbox One kits) and temporarily blocked all of their Xbox One privileges – meaning that for a period of time which Microsoft decides on depending on the severity of the offense, their Xbox One is entirely unusable.

The reason behind the Non-Disclosure Agreement is not only to protect our clients and our program, but also our community, and to make each and every single one of you aware of the severity of revealing confidential information which you’re entrusted with. One screenshot, message or even conversation shared with someone else can easily snowball into a situation that goes out of control, and not only penalize the offender as well as anyone else directly involved, but sometimes far beyond that. In certain cases, there were consequences which had affected people which had no malicious intentions but ended up entwined within the legal case - we’re fully aware that this also targeted very faithful, hard workers who had been with us from the start, and this situation crippled the entire community. We do not want to go that way ever again and are constantly in search of better solutions to single out perpetrators before too much is at risk. The community itself is growing stronger, and often times leaks are reported by community members to us – and we’re extremely thankful for that as it not only speeds up investigations drastically, but also shows us that this community is tightly knit and merely contains a few bad apples, who unfortunately ruin the experience for too many participants already.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that this is a community. Your actions and behavior reflect on each other as well as on us, and acting selfishly has the potential to ruin the experience to everyone. Please be mindful of others throughout your actions.

Thank you,

GBTN Coordinators

That polygon review had me worried.

Ed's Note: Our review of The Witcher 3 is based on non-final PS4 code provided by CD Projekt Red. In our time with the game, we saw significant technical issues, including hard crashes, endless load screens, major framerate drops both at random and during more crowded fight scenes, and failures by the game to trigger even scripts which would halt forward progress within a quest until the game was reloaded, or, on occasion, the console restarted entirely.

CD Projekt's review documentation stated that there were a number of bugs on their list to be addressed in time for the retail release of the game, but at this time, we cannot speak confidently as to the release state of The Witcher 3 in this review. As such, this score will remain provisional until we have a clearer understanding of the game's reliability at launch.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was reviewed using pre-release debug code for PlayStation 4 provided by CD Projekt Red. You can find additional information about Polygon's ethics policy here.

When The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt arrives on May 19, players will be prompted to download an update that makes various technical improvements, including better overall frame rate.

Responding to a fan on Twitter who mentioned that frame rate issues were cited in some reviews, CD Projekt Red community manager Marcin Momot said, "Frame rate will be better once we official launch the game."

He went on to clarify that this update will be automatically applied when the game arrives.

A CD Projekt Red representative confirmed to GameSpot that this patch will be available on all platforms. It will also include "overall performance improvements" such as fixes for texture pop-in issues.

Separately, CD Projekt Red has released a teaser trailer for a new Witcher 3 video called "A Night to Remember." The full video will be available tomorrow, May 14.

Microsoft Denies Disabling Xbox Ones for Terms of Use Breaches

Microsoft responds to reports that it completely disabled consoles belonging to people who violated a non-disclosure agreement.

Following reports today that it had disabled Xbox One consoles belonging to individuals who broke a testing agreement with the company, Microsoft has denied that it does so for Terms of Use violations.

"To be clear, if a console is suspended from Xbox Live for a violation of the Terms of Use, it can still be used offline," a Microsoft spokesperson told GameSpot. "Microsoft enforcement action does not result in a console becoming unusable."

The question then becomes what warrants a console being banned from use online. "Suspensions for both consoles and accounts are determined by looking at a number of factors," the spokesperson continued. "To avoid enforcement action including suspension from the service, users should follow the Xbox Live Terms of Use and Code of Conduct."

This statement comes on the heels of a report from Kotaku that Microsoft had "bricked" consoles belonging to people testing the remastered Xbox One version of Gears of War. These individuals were allegedly responsible for the footage that's appeared online from the as-of-yet unannounced game.

An email sent out by the company employing these testers, VMC Consulting, indicated that these testers had violated both a non-disclosure agreement and Xbox Live's End User License Agreement. The email said that, as a result of violating Xbox Live's EULA, the offenders' Xbox Live accounts had been permanently banned and their consoles "temporarily blocked." According to the email, this meant their systems were "entirely unusable" until Microsoft decided otherwise.

This prompted concerns from Xbox One owners that Microsoft has a killswitch that allows it to completely disable any Xbox One console. Microsoft's statement suggests violating the terms you agree to when using the system will only result in the console being banned from use online.

Microsoft did not directly address the bans supposedly handed out to these testers, so it remains to be seen whether their consoles have been rendered unusable offline--something that may have been stipulated by the NDA they are said to have broken. The NDA remains an important wrinkle, as these individuals were subject to rules that ordinary Xbox One owners are not.

We've followed up with the company to find out if it possesses the ability to disable a console altogether, but have not yet received a response.
