Xbox One Console Reviews

no. stop. 2nd time you've done this w/ NO links/proof

quote from the"anonymous source" at Ubisoft Massive studio
"The game engine works well, it's not done, but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however,"

plus there actually no release date, just looked on both the game's twitter and Facebook.. they just said wait for the announcement at E3 this year

You know that it plays Halo games. You know it will run Gears of War. And you probably knew that it looks smaller if you stand further away from it. But did you know these other things about Xbox One?
You can see how much Internet your console uses

Go to Settings —> Network —> Bandwidth Usage and you’ll be able to track how much Internet bandwidth your Xbox One console has used each of the last several months and even how much it’s using at the moment.

Watch a game in action before you decide to buy it

The Xbox Live store features Twitch livestreams of any game that’s being played at the moment, so you can skip guessing, reading marketing copy or reading a Kotaku review and just watch some gamer play the game you are about to buy.

Play game, don’t save, power off, power on, resume playing

Who needs save points? Not the Xbox One. The system’s suspend-and-resume feature is one of its best tricks, but only brave gamers who shut their console down without saving their game will discover it. Only works if you are using the system’s instant-on power setting, so not an option if you’re looking to use a more energy-efficient mode.
UPDATE - 1:15pm: Readers tell me this pretty much doesn’t work with games that are using a persistent online connection. I hadn’t experienced that, likely due to which games I play on Xbox One, but I have experienced that issue on PS4’s own recently-added suspend-and-resume feature when I attempt to resume playing an online-open session of Far Cry 4.

Do not worry about losing save files

Your save files automatically get uploaded to the cloud as you play. If you log into another Xbox One with your Xbox Live account and then start a game that’s on disc or that you own, the system will pull down your save. No manual uploading and downloading of save files necessary (please take note, Sony!). Logging into a new system will also automatically pull in your pinned shortcuts.
Virtual green screen!

Using the console’s Upload Studio app and a Kinect, you can do more than just edit gameplay clips, talk over them or do picture-in-picture. You can use that Kinect to create a virtual green screen. Like this:
1243371447006938403.gif

To do this, just start recording a Kinect-type video in Upload Studio and choose “change effect.”
You can keep an eye on desired Achievements

Not only can you snap a stack of achievements on the right side of your TV screen, but you can then prioritize the ones you want to track. To snap Achievements, either tell the Kinect to “Xbox, snap achievements” or, if you don’t have a Kinect or are shy, just double-tap the Xbox button on the controller and select the Achievement option.
1243371447090097699.png

Then highlight any Achievement, press A and pin that Achievement to the top of the stack. A progress bar showing how close you are to landing that Achievement will fill up as you play.

Think of the menu button as right-click

Not so much a feature as an epiphany! As Xbox One boss Phil Spencer told me about a year ago, you can get a better handle on what the menu (three-line/hamburger) button on the Xbox One controller will do on the system menu and in various apps if you think of it as using right click on a mouse. This clears up a lot!
1243371447316871203.png

Use your phone as a controller

If you’ve got the Xbox One SmartGlass app on your phone or tablet, you can sync it to your console and then use it as a controller as you swipe through the system menu or apps such as Netflix. No proper controller or Kinect needed.
1243371447379640099.jpg

Access HBO faster

Some video apps, namely the HBO Go one (maybe others?), let you pin specific shows or movies to your system dashboard. Just hover over, say, the listing for The Wire, right-click to bring up the option to pin and do it. Instant shortcut to a show worth watching.

Use the Xbox One controller on your PC

You’ll have to plug it in with a micro-USB cord, and you’ll need to download these drivers.

Ubisoft's upcoming open-world role-playing game, Tom Clancy's The Division, is getting some additional development help from the team behind Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell multiplayer, the publisher announced today.

Joining existing teams Massive Entertainment in Sweden, Red Storm in the U.S. and Ubisoft Reflections in the U.K. is Ubisoft Annency, the French studio that has lead development on recent Assassin's Creed multiplayer games.

"The team in Annecy is delighted to be collaborating with Massive, Red Storm and Reflections on Tom Clancy's The Division," said Rebecka Coutaz, studio manager at Ubisoft Annency. "We are bringing our previous experience in multiplayer online games and this project is allowing us to build our technical knowledge in other areas and become experts on this incredible brand. The collaboration with the other studios is going very smoothly, and we're working together to ensure we meet and exceed the high expectations players have for this new title."

A post on Ubisoft's official blog says the Annency team's role is being kept secret for now, though it's not unreasonable to assume that it will contribute to The Division's multiplayer, given Coutaz's comments. Multiple teams contributing to one title is commonplace at Ubisoft; last year's Assassin's Creed Unity featured the work of 10 Ubisoft teams.

Tom Clancy's The Division was announced at E3 2013. The open-world shooter is set in New York City in the midst of a viral pandemic that has led to the collapse of the U.S. government.

Last we heard, The Division was coming sometime in 2015 to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

Though The Witcher 3 doesn’t officially release until May 19th, many gamers around the world already have access to the beast-hunting game. The reason? Some stores are selling the game early.

This means that if you want to go into the game fresh, you maaaaay want to be careful about what you look at on the internet. Just to be safe.

Already there are a number of Twitch streams of players who have PS4 and Xbox One copies of the games, though Twitch says players streaming the game early will face consequences:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is not allowed for broadcasting until May 19, 2015. Broadcasting before this date is subject to DMCA guidelines.</p>&mdash; Twitch Support (@TwitchSupport) <a href="https://twitter.com/TwitchSupport/status/596786183511810048">May 8, 2015</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

To wit, a few streams I was watching earlier today that had thousands of viewers got banned shortly after broadcasting footage:

Regardless, there are already screenshots and videos floating around the web, and popular hubs such as Reddit and neoGAF are having discussions about spoilers. We’ve reached out to CD Projekt Red to ask about how they’re dealing with the situation, but they did not respond in time for publication.

Last year, the developers had their files hacked—which resulted in the leak of major Witcher 3 plot points and endings. At the time, the developers “strongly advised” players to avoid spoilers if they could help it.

A few months ago, a YouTuber gained access to The Order: 1886 prior to launch and uploaded the entirety of a playthrough online, for everyone to see. The leak ended up derailing the launch of the game, as players saw what they considered to be unfavorable footage. Occurrences such as these are not uncommon of course—games leak all the time. What makes newer leaks interesting is that they’re happening in the age of YouTube and Twitch, when everything can and will be documented. Publishers and developers haven’t really adapted to this reality, and instead try fruitlessly to shut down or punish leaks from gamers as best they can.

Thanks to your continued feedback, a new month means we get to deliver a new set of fan-requested features on Xbox One. We’re streamlining your gaming experiences even more this time around, whether you’re looking for an easier way to power up the console or connect with distant friends in real time through voice messaging.

Let’s dive into the full list of features rolling out today in the May system update:

Voice Messages – You can now send and receive voice messages from the Xbox One messages app. This is the No. 1 feature requested in the Friends and Parties area on the Xbox Feedback site > “Add audio message …”

Power On/Off from Xbox One SmartGlass – The Xbox One SmartGlass app for Windows, Windows Phone, iOS and Android are being updated to let you power your Xbox One on and off when your devices are on the same home network as your console.

User Selectable Power Mode – We are also altering the initial setup experience on Xbox One worldwide to enable you to select your preferred power mode between Instant-on or Energy-saving mode.

Dedicated Servers for Party Chat – We will start to expand the availability of the party chat relay services beyond preview members to a broader audience as we continue to fine tune the feature and scale out the servers needed to support party chat relay services.

Fore more information on the Xbox One May System Update, read this article at Xbox Wire.

Keep the suggestions coming at Xbox Feedback, and we’ll continue to make Xbox One the best place to game.

A retailer listing has been spotted showing a new Xbox One model with a 1TB hard drive.

Spanish retailer Lamee listed a new, unannounced SKU for Xbox One. The retailer called it Xbox One Basic and it features a 1TB hard drive.

The listing has since been removed, but it did mention a release date of June 23. The date could just be a place-holder, but it more than likely means Microsoft is set to unveil the new SKU at E3 in June.

The price is showing as €449.99, €50 higher than the 500GB model. The only other 1TB SKU available is the limited edition CoD: Advanced Warfare one.
Here it is thorough Google Cache:

Xbox now takes action against hateful/harassing messages now. After i beat some cheesy ass bums on 2K over the passed weeks i've sent them some shit talking messages. I got a email about 3 weeks ago from Xbox saying that your account has been flagged and certain privileges will be unavailable to you for the time being.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt encompasses what I hope is the future of RPGs. It stands out for its wonderful writing, variety of quests and things to do in the world, and how your choices have impact in interesting ways. Usually something is sacrificed when creating a world this ambitious, but everything felt right on cue. I still think about some of my choices and how intriguing they turned out – for better or worse.

This is obviously a huge game, but unlike a lot of open worlds, it's also one that feels lively. The developers at CD Projekt Red have spent a lot of time ensuring that it's not just a collection of towns connected by empty space. Even outside of the quests I stumbled across, there was a lot to do out in the world, whether hunting monsters or exploring ancient ruins. The game is so beautiful and so full of surprises, that I rode my horse most places instead of using the fast travel option that lets you zip around the map. I didn't want to miss anything. I absolutely loved just trotting around, watching the sun set and rise over the mountains, lakes, or wherever I happened to be at that moment. It's a nice palette cleanser after dismembering some ghouls in a bloody swordfight.

Ubisoft has announced their fiscal quarter results today and has stated that The a Division is still on track to release in their Fiscal Year 2016, but it’s been moved to Q4 release timeframe. The fourth quarter for Ubisoft is actually between January and March 2016.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft stated the title was on track for this year, but it that seems to have changed. Ubisoft announced last week that four different studios are collaborating on the title, with Massive Entertainmemt leading development.
Rainbow Six Siege is still on track for a 2015 release.
