NBA Live 15 delayed

NBA LIVE 15 Open Letter from Sean O’Brien

NBALIVE15_Header_OpenLetter.jpg

Hey everybody,

If you’re anything like me, after following all of the storylines leading up to this year's NBA Draft, a really entertaining NBA Summer League and all the other basketball news this summer, you're excited for the upcoming 2014-15 NBA season. It should be amazing.

The team has been pushing hard all year to make NBA LIVE 15 both look and play great, and I couldn’t be prouder of the work they’ve done. You may have seen a few early preview pieces pop up from our visits with press or our recent trip to Gamescom, and we’ve been getting some great feedback from our conversations with the media, as well as from all of the play testing we’ve been doing over the last few months.

It was great to see such a positive response to our Visuals Trailer that we released last week. We think we’ve come a long way since the launches of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 last November, and we’re still working on tuning certain areas in 5-on-5 gameplay. The team took on an incredible amount of work this year literally touching every single system in gameplay, focusing on providing improved control and responsiveness, as well as animation that both looks and feels great. That will be our calling card moving forward.

Considering all the work that’s gone in so far, we will be taking a few extra weeks to polish the game and make sure you get an incredible NBA experience from the moment you first boot up the title. This extra development time means we will be moving our launch date to October 28 to line up to opening night of the 2014-15 NBA season. This was a hard decision, but it’s the right one, as we are totally committed to delivering the highest-quality game we possibly can. You’ll be hearing a lot more from us over the coming weeks, starting with a brand-new gameplay blog that will give you the first details on all the ways we plan to deliver on our promises to build a better experience.

As I said, we’re very proud of the improvements we’ve made in NBA LIVE 15, and we believe with some additional time, our game will reach its full potential.

We’ll also be providing additional blogs, videos, deep-dives and more in the coming weeks as the game comes together and we prepare for launch. And as always, I encourage all of you to make up your minds and see for yourself by playing the trial when it becomes available closer to launch.

October Update Preview for Xbox One

Xbox One System Update Preview: Improvements to Snap, TV experiences

This is a big month for Xbox One as we launch some of the features you’ve asked for most including better multitasking while gaming, more ways to stay connected with friends, new options for accessing your media, and more. Over the past couple months, we’ve been rolling out some great new features to Xbox One through our system updates, and we have been thrilled with the positive feedback we’ve received from all of you. Keep it coming! There’s more new features rolling out to Xbox Live members in our preview program starting today, and over the next week or so, in two major themes.

New Snap and Friends functions

o Snap Updates – We’ve updated the Snap Center to include quick access to many of the things our fans wanted faster access to when playing a game – Friends, Messages, Game DVR, clock, and battery indicator – as well as making it easier to close and open new snap apps when playing a game. A double tap of the Xbox button on your controller will bring up a menu that allows you to open a new app in snap mode, close the current snapped app, or switch focus between your game and your running snapped app. Additionally, two apps have been optimized for Snap mode:

 • Friends Snap App – Access your friends list without leaving the game. Quickly check your friends list to see who’s online right now and take actions like send message, invite or join.
 • Messages Snap App – You’ll be able to open, read and respond to messages in Snap mode, and messages will now be displayed in a threaded conversation view.
o Achievements App – Updated to enable sharing of achievements you’ve unlocked with captions, see a list of friends who have unlocked specific achievements, and an updated achievements Snap landing page that that shows Achievements on recently played games, when a user is not actively playing a game.
o Friends section – The new Friends section enables you to see at a glance what’s going on with your friends. You can stay up-to-date with their current activities, the most popular games your friends are playing, and a Gamerscore leaderboard to see who has improved their Gamerscore over the last 30 days. The new Friends section has been available for select preview members for a few weeks and now we’re bringing it to everyone in the program, with plans to roll out this feature for all Xbox One owners with the October system update.
o New SmartGlass features – You can now see a list of your top games in your profile. You can also see a list of your friend’s most popular games in the Friend’s section of SmartGlass.
Improvements for TV and video

o Media Player DLNA and MKV support – Members of the preview program who have also downloaded the latest version of the Media Player app will now have support for DLNA streaming. With this update, you will be able to easily access and play music, watch photo slideshows or movies stored on home media servers and devices that support the DLNA server protocols. Additionally, you will now be able to playback MKV files stored on a USB device or a device on your home network that supports DLNA streaming.
o Live TV Trending – Within the next week, you will be able to see what Live TV is trending based on your country and OneGuide settings. A new tab will be available in OneGuide that displays the top 10 most watched TV shows, with the list filtered down to the shows that are currently available to you based on your OneGuide settings. You will be able to tune to a specific show by pressing the A button. The Live TV Trending list will be updated approximately every minute, so you can easily discover shows that are popular with other viewers. This feature will initially be made available to preview users in the U.S., Canada and the UK.
o Xbox One Digital TV Tuner – Previously announced in August, this new accessory will be available for purchase in UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain on October 21. This USB-attached TV Tuner will enable users to watch TV on Xbox One, and pause Live TV for up to 30 minutes. There are a limited number of preview participants in this program due to hardware requirements needed for testing.

 • Stream TV to SmartGlass – If you have an Xbox One Digital TV Tuner, you will be able to stream TV across your home network to your smartphone or tablet using the Xbox SmartGlass app. You can also pause, play, rewind and change channels, without interrupting gameplay.
o Live TV MiniGuide – For markets where OneGuide is available, a new MiniGuide on the bottom of the screen will display details about the TV content that is currently playing. You can quickly change channels, see what’s on other channels, and tune to the previous channel or other recent channels.
o OneGuide in 12 new countries – Live TV listings and schedules will be made available to preview members on Xbox One and SmartGlass for Belgium, Chile, Columbia, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and Russia in the next few days.
o Internet TV Apps – Apps with live TV channels can now include their TV listings within OneGuide. In addition, other Xbox TV features such as channel changing using speech and Miniguide will work with these apps. These features are enabled automatically the first time you sign into a supported app. The first app to support this feature in preview will be Zattoo, a TV provider available in several European markets. We will be sharing more details soon with members of the public preview.
o Universal Remote Control in SmartGlass – If you are in one of those 12 countries, you will also be able use your mobile device to control your Xbox, TV, and/or Cable/Satellite box.
Other user requested features

o Updated Devices & Accessories page – To access the new page, go inside Settings, where you can Find, Assign, and Update Xbox One accessories. You can now more easily “assign” accessories to specific users, such as assigning a headset to a specific gamer.
o Firmware updates – You can update the firmware for an individual device. And, you can also more easily find (or identify) a controller by making it vibrate.
o Hide Games & Apps on your console – You can now hide items in the “Ready to install” list under My Games & Apps. This is a per-console setting and items will reappear in the list if they are installed again from the Xbox Store. To access the shortcut to temporarily show “hidden” items, press X while holding down both triggers and it will show all hidden items until you exit My Games & Apps.
These new features and updates are rolling out to all Xbox One preview program members starting today. We are looking forward to bringing Xbox One to new markets this month, and can’t wait to hear from fans in those markets who get to pick up and play Xbox One for the first time. Plus, these new features will be available in all of our new markets for Xbox One owners who join the preview program.

What we've learned so far about levelling, XP, weapons and ammo

Bungie's Destiny is now on sale worldwide, bringing an end to years of anticipation and speculation. On the surface, it seems a more serene, less bloodthirsty kind of shooter than Activision's other big action franchise, Call of Duty, but if you've played it for more than an hour or two, you'll know that it can be startlingly tough, particularly if you pick fights with enemies who are far above your level.
Help is at hand. I'm playing the game for OXM's review right now - I was up till 4am this morning making craters out of Gate Lord faces on Venus, don't you know - and I've put together a little list of tricks and tactics. We'll add more to the round-up as we go - if you have any advice to pass on, please do.

1. If in doubt, don't buy anything

In Destiny, pretty much every character who isn't another player or a character you only see in cutscenes is a shopkeeper. Fortunately, they're all very generous shopkeepers. Simply completing a story mission is generally enough to elicit some sort of reward from an admiring soul at the Tower - be it your Vanguard contact asking the quartermaster to fit you out with a murderous new gun, in recognition of your triumph over the Hive, or the Cryptarch bursting into tears of gratitude because you've dug up some old library on Venus.

you'll also scavenge new weapons and armour pieces faster than you can equip 'em. Resist the temptation to spend Glimmer early on, then - better to save it for rarer treats, such as new ship designs.

2. If in doubt, grind

Destiny walks and talks like a shooter, but at heart it's a role-playing game. Enemies have levels that correspond to the mission level you're attempting (though there are wildcard high level enemies dotted around each world, most of whom can kill you with a couple of shots). So if you're having a hard time beating a mission, go back and try your hand at something lower level to build up the XP points. Patrol missions are good for XP grinding - they give you more or less free run of a planet.

3. If in doubt, aim high

Of course, if you're feeling bold you could always tackle higher level missions (badged Hard and Very Hard) for bonus XP. Gunning down a foe who's a level or two higher than you does wonders for one's character development, I've found. It's possible to kill certain top-level enemies without too much difficulty using dirty tactics - the Titan's flashbang grenade should stun a heavy-duty foe for long enough that you can line up a headshot through an overpowered sniper rifle. You can also lure creatures to their doom in certain areas, like the cliffs at Old Russia - try knocking the beastie over the edge with a Sparrow while a friend draws its fire.

4. If in doubt, come back later

The game checkpoints progress within a mission even when you return to orbit, allowing the struggling player to warp back to Earth, decrypt or unlock some new gear, and return to the fray without too much of a break in flow.
5. If in doubt, check the colour of the shield

Midboss-level enemies such as Vex Hobgoblins, Fallen Captains and Hive Wizards are equipped with personal energy shields that are very resistant to your quaint Earth bullets. Fortunately, weapons that deal Solar, Void or Arc damage are far more effective and easy to come by. Watch out for the colour of your opponent's shield - if it's orange, Solar damage is the right way forward, if it's Blue, Arc is the right choice.
6. If in doubt, don't stay still

This becomes especially important when fighting the Vex, a race of bio-mechanical entities who are able to teleport around the map - either in large groups to predetermined spots, or individually and in short bursts to avoid incoming fire. Don't get comfortable on the high ground, particularly if there's plenty of room - an entire platoon may materialise behind you. While battling the Hive, you'll have to deal with suicidal cursed Thralls who detonate when they're close. Fallen Vandals, meanwhile, are partial to cloaking devices and vicious blade attacks.

7. If in doubt, clear your inventory

A clean-thinking Guardian is a Guardian who won't get confused while trying to select a different weapon in a firefight. You can destroy an item in return for very small handfuls of Glimmer by holding X while selecting it on the menu screen. However...
8. If in doubt, save your rare weapons

You'll find Basic items that have a higher core value (i.e. defence, attack) than Uncommon or Rare varieties, but Basic items can't (in our experience, at least) be upgraded, and don't confer any secondary perks such as increased reload speed or a boost to melee power when you're hit with a grenade. Rarer items also tend to look nicer than the run-of-the-mill variety.
9. If in doubt, don't change weapons

It's possible to change loadout in the field, but you'll lose all the ammo in the magazine or clip when you do so. So pick an option and stick to it.
We'll have more to pass on over the course of the week. If you have any advice to share, do share it.

I didn't realize the NEW Borderlands was coming out the following week after Destiny. Borderlands will have me on CRACK again. Now Im wondering if I should wait to get Destiny

Microsoft said to be buying the maker of 'Minecraft' for $2 billion

Minecraft-MarvelAvengers1-X1-Screenshot-01-png.0.0_standard_800.0.png

The deal could close this week, according to the Wall Street Journal

Microsoft is nearing a deal to buy Mojang AB, makers of the Minecraft video game franchise, according to a new report. According to the Wall Street Journal, the deal would value Mojang at more than $2 billion and could be signed as soon as this week.

Microsoft and Mojang declined to comment to the Journal. As the Journal notes, the move would be surprising given that Mojang founder Markkus "Notch" Persson, is a darling of the indie gaming scene who has avoided taking venture capital. He has also criticized Microsoft's Windows 8 for potentially being "very, very bad for indie games."

Minecraft, which first came out in 2009, has sold more than 50 million copies. Stockholm-based Mojang had $100 million in profits last year, according to the Journal. It's a reflection of the fact that Minecraft, an open-world game where players can build almost anything they can imagine while avoiding spiders and other dangers, has become a multi-platform global phenomenon. The Journal argues that owning Minecraft could "invigorate" Microsoft's Xbox business, though the game has long been available on that platform.

Mojang has been seen as an unlikely target for acquisition because its small team of about 40 people makes a highly profitable game in Minecraft and whose leader has expressed a desire to invest those profits in unusual new games. Persson has also been critical of large corporations in general; he canceled a planned version of Minecraft for Oculus Rift after the virtual reality company sold to Facebook.

Microsoft and Insomniac Games have just announced a Season Pass for upcoming open-world shooter Sunset Overdrive. The Season Pass will include the first three major add-ons for the game, as well as six exclusive character outfits, two Amps and two Traps, which will become available to Season Pass holders as soon as the game is released.

The Season Pass offers players two campaign DLC packs that will "each deliver new locations to explore, stories to experience, and bosses to battle." It'll also include a Weapons Pack add-on, as well as new challenges and Chaos Squad objectives.

It'll set you back £15.99, which saves you around about 20% if you buy it instead of picking up the three DLC packs individually.

Tips For Playing Destiny

py1plqmlg6kgzki6prtg.png

Greetings, Guardians! You've picked up Destiny for your gaming console of choice, loaded up your pulse rifle, and you're getting ready to head to the Cosmodrome to fight The Darkness. It's dangerous to go alone, you know.
We've been playing the game since the servers went live yesterday morning, and have amassed a bunch of starting tips to help you on your way. Notes: These tips are mostly focused on the single-player/co-op stuff, and not on the crucible multiplayer. Also, these tips will doubtless evolve somewhat over the weeks to come, and in their current state are aimed mostly at players starting out, not at anyone concerned with high-level play or endgame stuff.
Ready? Let's hop on our speeder bikes and set a course for knowledge.

Don't Worry Too Much About Your Class

Unlike in some other types of RPGs (or RPG-like games), your class in Destiny doesn't make a huuuge difference. It's mostly about what kind of abilities you want to use - the Titan gets an aggressive ground-pound that puts him or her out in harm's way, the Warlock gets a superbomb that he/she can toss from a distance, and the Hunter gets a golden gun that does a ton of damage. They have stat differences, but once you've put on some levels you can choose to focus on different areas. As far as we can tell from our time with the game, the class you choose comes down largely to personal preference.
If you want to know more, IGN has some terrific wikis dedicated to each class: Warlock, Hunter, and Titan.

DO Worry Too Much About Your Hair

Destiny has the best video game hair we've ever seen. If you're going to spend a long time on something, spend a long time deciding on your character's hair. Sure, it'll spend most of the game hidden underneath a helmet, but in cutscenes and when walking around town, it's worth taking the time to make sure you look pretty.
Don't Forget About Loot Chests

This might seem obvious for anyone who has explored games with big maps or a heavy emphasis on weaponry—think Borderlands or any MMO—but it's particularly noteworthy in Destiny, because chests are pretty rare. There are, as far as we can tell, roughly five gold chests per planet. They usually come with a stack of glimmer—Destiny's currency—and either some armor or guns.
If you're not sure how many chests you've found, don't worry. The destination map from your ship's command will clue you in.

Expand
The Chests In Russia Are The Same As The Beta

Back during the Destiny beta, there were five gold loot caches that would give you good gear. Those caches are in the same places in the final game, and they're worth picking up on your first time through those levels, since they'll give you some solid stuff.
Loot Chests Do Not Level With You

You'll definitely want to get chests your first time through an area, since chests don't level up with you - if you come back for them once you're above the general level of the patrol zone, you'll wind up with gear you don't want.
Engrams, However, Do

If you get an encrypted engram, it actually does level with you - it's locked to whatever rarity it was when you discovered it, but it won't be assigned stats until you have the cryptarch in town decode it. So, if you're about to level up, wait to have the cryptarch decode it until you're sure you're ready for an upgrade of whatever weapon or armor type it is.
Dismantle The Gear You Don't Want

Happily, you don't have to go to a shop to sell extra gear in Destiny - you can dismantle it directly from your inventory and get cash in return. Do so often, particularly with common weapons that you've long since outgrown.

Consider The Robot

There is a sad, lonely robot in the hallway between the town plaza and the lady who sells ships. He stands there all day and night, tirelessly sweeping the same spot on the ground. When you pass him, pause to consider the robot. See how he ceaselessly repeats the same activity over and over, how unaware he is of his own insignificance? Perhaps we're more like the robot than we'd care to admit.
Remember That You Can't Pause

You can't pause in Destiny. Ever. Don't forget that! Otherwise you'll proooobably get killed in an embarrassing way next time you get up for a pee.
Master The Boost-Jump

The boost-jump is one of Destiny's most mechanically interesting tricks - after you get a few levels, depending on your class, you'll get an ability that lets you make special jumps. Each character has a specific sort of move, and they all take a bit of getting used to. For example, as a Warlock, if you tap the jump button twice quickly, you'll get the maximum boost - don't wait until the pinnacle of your jump to press it, or you won't get much juice. However, there are times, particularly in competitive multiplayer, where you won't want to ride a full boost, since it'll leave you vulnerable up in the air.
Eventually you'll level up enough to unlock the ability to control what direction you float in, too, or upgrade its speed. It's worth taking some time in a safe area to practice and get a feel for getting around.

Play A Dangerous Drinking Game

Every time Peter Dinklage reads a line in a way that indicates he has no idea what the words he's speaking are supposed to mean, take a drink. Warning: Only play this game if you've had something to eat first.
You Don't Always Have To Be A Hero

On missions, you'll occasionally enter an area where there are no respawns. That means that if your whole team goes down at the same time with no one to revive them, you'll have to start back at a checkpoint. Sometimes, your teammates will get aced out in the open, and you'll have to risk your neck to revive them. Remember, however, that they also have a countdown respawn timer. If you're safe behind cover, it can be smarter to wait for your teammates to respawn on their own, rather than risking dying to revive them, since if you die, you'll all have to start over. You'll feel guilty leaving them out there, but it's okay - you have your team's best interests at heart.
Keep Up With Bounties

Bounties are basically challenge-based quests—sometimes with specific orders to carry out or just a specific enemy to kill—that offer substantial XP boosts and can really help boost your level.
You can only hold a certain number of bounties at a time, so you'll want to prioritize. Are you planning on spending the next few hours in the Crucible for rounds of competitive multiplayer? Then you'll want to take all the Crucible-specific bounties so you can (hopefully) knock them out in one or two gos. If you're planning on spending a lot of time on the Moon, it makes sense to carry only the Moon-based bounties so you don't have to do too many return trips. Also, remember that the bounty robot refreshes its stock every so often, so check back whenever you're in town.
Get A Bounty For Patrol Missions

You can usually get a bounty that gives you an XP reward for completing six of the "patrol" sidequests on each planet, so it's a good idea to wait to do too many of those until you have a bounty that'll give you extra rewards for completing them.

Expand
Remember To Check In With Your Vanguard

Each class has a specific Vanguard character that they can check in with between story missions. That person is usually waiting for you to turn in trophies after completing major quests, and it's a very good idea to check in with them on the reg. Not only will they give you a reward of a good piece of armor, you can also buy some really powerful gear from them for cheap, provided you meet the level requirement. It's also smart to look at the loot you can't afford to use yet, and make a mental note to come back once you've reached the appropriate level.
Give The Crucible A Go, With Bounties

Some players will likely skip Destiny's player-vs.-player Crucible multiplayer entirely, preferring to focus on the co-op grind of the campaign stuff. (Of course, other players will probably focus only on the Crucible.) If you're one of the former type, push yourself to give the Crucible a shot. You can earn some hefty XP rewards in the early goings by taking bounties to complete a certain number of matches—which, crucially, you don't have to win, just complete. As it just so happens (clever Bungie), that number of matches is right around what it takes to get yourself familiar with Crucible multiplayer, and likely get interested in playing more.
Pay Attention To The Waypoint On Your Mini-Map

This might sound silly, but it's actually pretty easy to forget to check the waypoint in the upper-left corner of the screen and spend a while cruising in the wrong direction. Destiny's waypoint-checking system is a bit annoying, since you have to take out your Ghost to get the markers to appear on the screen, but once you get a certain rhythm down, you can check pretty easily.
Un-Check Waypoints Before Hopping Off Your Sparrow

When you're on your Sparrow speeder bike, it's easy to hit the button to make your mission waypoints pop up. However, if you just hit the button once, you'll have your ghost out (instead of a weapon) if you hop off your bike shortly afterward. Which is annoying. Get in the habit of pressing the waypoint button twice, which will "put away" your ghost (and waypoints) so you're ready to rock in case you need to quickly dismount.

Consider Playing The Story Missions Solo

Kirk: I've also found that the story missions are generally pretty enjoyable when played solo, and you won't wind up in the annoying position of having a higher-level friend doing all your killing for you. Destiny co-op is at its best when either running around doing patrol missions or going on intense co-op "strike" raids; if you're going to set aside time to play with your friends, prioritize that stuff. That said…
Try To Start At The Same Level With Your Friends

Kirk: That said, if you're going to play the story missions in co-op, I've found it's more fun to play along with people who are around your level. So, while it's annoying, if you're planning to play through the campaign with one or two friends, try to start out together and don't get too far leveled when you're apart.
Consider Setting Your Fireteam Visibility To Public

Tina: I much prefer taking teammates with me on strikes and missions if I can help it. I find it's even worth making your fireteam public, which you can change in the character roster menu. If you prefer to keep things solo, or play only with friends, that's of course your choice. But public matches can work well, and most of the co-op stuff doesn't require chat for a team to work well together.
(We obviously don't entirely agree the optimal way to play the campaign stuff, which really just means everyone will probably have their own preference. Solo, co-op, some blend... go with whichever sounds better to you.)
Be A Brawler

Your melee attack is one of your most useful weapons, and careful tactical use can help you dominate the battlefield. Enemies will usually stick to one piece of cover, so if you can clear a path up and around that piece of cover, then melee the enemy who was hiding there, and you'll have headed off one of the flanks of the battlefield, killed a hiding enemy, and wound up safely behind cover. Provided you've spent points building your character in this way, you'll also be granted some kind of bonus for each melee kill.
Aim For The Head

A slightly obvious tip, but: If you're taking on a bunch of the Fallen or the Hive, remember to aim for the head. You can one-hit-kill a number of enemies that'd take a few body shots to go down. That can be particularly useful when dealing with the Hive's running melee attackers, since you really don't want to let more than one get within swatting distance.

Expand
Go In One Level Up

Especially if you're playing solo, Destiny becomes a lot more fun if you're just sliiightly higher level than the enemies you're fighting. If there's a level 10 story mission, hit it at level 10 or level 11. If you go in at level 8 or 9, it'll be much more of a slog. That said, if you're really good at the game, or have a few high-level friends, going in too early is a good way to give yourself a stiffer challenge.
Leave One In The Chamber

Remember to reload your weapons, particularly your special and heavy weapons, in between encounters. Nothing's worse than whipping out your rocket launcher to hit a massive boss, only to find yourself hiding behind a rock because you forgot to reload the last time you used it.
Use Secondary Weapons Or Lose 'Em

It's tempting to be stingy with your grenades and secondary weapon ammo, but it's actually best to use both liberally. You'll find secondary ammo lying around all over the place, so it's pretty easy to use your shotgun/sniper rifle/whathaveyou more often than you might think. Obviously, save your grenades for groups of enemies; it's rarely worth it to waste a grenade on a single enemy, unless it's a big raid boss. You may also want to consider saving grenades for crowd control when things get too chaotic for comfort.
Ration Your Super Attacks

Once you've played a few hours, you'll have a good collection of abilities at your disposal. You'll have your primary weapon, your secondary weapon, your special weapon, your grenade, your melee power-attack, and your super attack. Learn to inventory each of those separately, which will give you a sense of what you've got "loaded" at any given moment.
You'll want to ration your special attacks so that you aren't wasting overpowered weaponry on lower-level enemies. Almost every encounter builds to a crescendo with a boss or a mob of powered-up regular enemies, so keep that in mind. If your super is charged midway through a wave-defense challenge, save it for the boss that's likely just around the corner.

Don't Pick Gear Just Based On Basic Stats

It seems like an easy calculation: This pair of gauntlets has 80 defense and this other one has 110, so...obviously the higher number, right? Destiny's weapons and armor that are categorized by either a blue or green icon are upgradeable. So if you're a fan of Auto Rifles and if that 80-defense gauntlet has an upgradeable perk that works specifically for Auto Rifles, it actually might be more useful to you to build on the setup you want. Before the upgrades are made available to you, you can view them by clicking for details on each item. It's a good way to plan ahead and think a bit deeper about how you want to customize your loadout.
Keep Two Different Secondary Weapons On Hand

Your primary weapon will be something like an Auto Rifle or Hand Cannon or Scout Rifle or Pulse Rifle. The secondary weapons are a bit more diverse, like energy weapons, sniper rifles, and shotguns. It's important to keep both a sniper rifle and a shotgun on hand for both the campaign and the Crucible.
At any point of time, you can swap between items in your inventory. When you're trying to pick off enemies from a distance, you can rely on your sniper rifle. But at the end of that raid, when you're likely in a more enclosed area stuck with a raid boss of some variation, the shotgun becomes incredibly useful. Same goes for multiplayer matches, which will occasionally call for different tactics based on which map you're on.

Dance Like No One's Watching

It's maybe our favorite thing to do in Destiny, and we've certainly captured enough GIFs of it for our own amusement...but there's something so pleasant about exchanging a hurrah amongst strangers turned comrades. You've emerged victorious—while it's smart to do a quick run to check for ammo and loot, it's still worth taking a few seconds out to do a dance with your new friends. It's actually surprising just how much more fun and meaningful a bit of goofy interaction can make Destiny feel. Embrace it!

Those are our tips for starting out in Destiny. We hope they're helpful, and if you have any other advice (or want to pick a bone with anything we've got here), we hope you'll sound off in the comments. Good luck out there, and keep an eye out for us. We'll be the ones dancing like idiots.

Before you shoot a single moon wizard in Destiny, you'll have to choose a class. Titan, Hunter, or Warlock...pick one.

As time goes on, it'll get more common for people to make a couple of alternate characters in different classees, but for your first time through, you gotta pick one and stick with it. So, I thought I'd see which class people went with.

Poll time! If you have more than one class, don't worry about it too much, just vote for the class you'd say is your "main" one.

Warlock 38.96% (902 votes)
Hunter 33.91% (785 votes)
Titan 27.13% (628 votes)

We already covered some of the class stuff in our tips post today, but if you've got any further thoughts on how the three classes stacks up, I hope you'll share 'em below. If you've got a screenshot of your character, feel free to share that, too.

Ray_Rice_EA_Sports_Removed_Madden_15_NFL.jpg

Ray Rice was released by the Ravens and the team is doing all it can to wash their hands of him, including scrubbing tweets and offering jersey exchanges.

The virtual Rice will disappear soon as well: EA Sports told CBSSports.com the former Ravens running back will be removed from the game.

"With Ray Rice's indefinite suspension from the NFL, he will be removed from Madden NFL 15," an EA Sports spokesperson told CBSSports.com. "This roster change will take place by this Friday."

EA regularly updates the Madden rosters and Madden NFL 15 is no different.
Rice is technically a free agent, so he would be removed from the Ravens roster anyway in the latest update.

But because he's listed as "Free Agent/Suspended by Commissioner" after his indefinite suspension from the NFL, EA will remove him from the game.

Microsoft said to be buying the maker of 'Minecraft' for $2 billion

Update, 9:51 p.m.: Bloomberg reports that the deal is more likely to be wrapped up next week. According to Bloomberg, talks between the companies began when Persson reached out to Microsoft a few months ago to explore the possibility of a sale. Microsoft believes it can make Minecraft more profitable by increasing its user base and doing more licensing agreements for toys and movies, the report said. Perhaps of greatest interest to Minecraft fans is that Persson will stay with Mojang through its transition to Microsoft but plans to leave beyond that, according to Bloomberg.

Notch should stay off twitter for a couple of weeks. I bet the SDF are tweeting him every minute.

Way to wait until the game was finally released on Vita before sellig out like this and stopping to support the platform. Scared that your years of failing to put out a new game might have just bit you in the ass huh? Fuck you if you think I'm paying for this now after you sat on your thumb for literally YEARS waiting to port a 360 game to other platforms. That's going to hold up, right?Fucking sub-PS2 assets upscaled onto the PS4? You're a bunch of clowns. I take it as a personal insult that you mouthbreathers are allowed to make decisions with regards to how franchises I used to really love are handled. Your asses got bailed out when Bethesda decided to settle out of court because their lawyers, like all of you, was a complete and utter mook. I make two better executives than your entire company combined in the toilet every morning before I go to work. I look forward to the day that MS crashes and burn your company into the fucking sea, only to make you make Kinect games for the rest of your days.

That's assuming you asshats don't run your company into the ground on your very own, which you probably will because you give fuck all about releasing new games, to say nothing about just how little regard you hold towards the fans who made you what you are.

As the owner of a PS4 and a Vita please go get eaten by a creeper.
