Odd Tease In The Division 2 Spills The Beans On The Next Assassin's Creed

An unusual teaser in Ubisoft’s loot shooter The Division 2, highlighted weeks after the game’s release, reveals that the next Assassin’s Creed game is all about Vikings. Kotaku can independently confirm the same.

The Division 2 launched on March 15, but it wasn’t until this week that discussion about a possible teaser located within the Potomac Event Center in the game’s version of Washington DC started generating buzz. As first made public by YouTuber JorRaptor, there are numerous posters all over this event center, picturing what appears to be a Norse god or traveler adorned with the word Valhalla.

What’s particularly interesting is that said traveler is holding what appears to be the Apple of Eden, a pivotal piece of technology in Assassin’s Creed lore.

So does this mean that the next Assassin’s Creed, confirmed by Ubisoft to be skipping 2019 and going straight to 2020 (just in time for the expected release of next-gen consoles), is all about Vikings? Well, yes. Yes it does. A few months before this teaser emerged, Kotaku learned from two independent sources familiar with the game that 2020's Assassin’s Creed, code-named Kingdom, does indeed star Vikings. We don’t know much else about the game, but after the phenomenal Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we’re stoked to see what’s coming.

Ubisoft declined to comment.

This teaser is a strange one. Ubisoft has a long history of sticking teases for future games in its current ones, most infamously with Pioneer, a project that was shown off in a Watch Dogs 2 mission before it was canceled and then brought back to life in a different form. A new patch for Watch Dogs 2 also dropped a major clue for Watch Dogs 3, telling the world that it would be set in London (which it is).

What’s unusual about this tease in The Division 2 is that it’s subtle—who would’ve thought to look for the Apple of Eden in this poster?—yet it’s also in your face, with dozens of copies of this poster hanging all throughout the event center. It’s not clear whether it was officially sanctioned by Ubisoft HQ or just stuck in there by a cheeky artist, but it’s fascinating nonetheless.

Fans had long theorized that the next Assassin’s Creed would be set in Rome, after an old 4chan post that accurately revealed Assassin’s Creed Origins before it was announced said it was part of a trilogy including games in Rome and Greece. Several recent rumors had given traction to that theory—rumors that are almost certainly incorrect. Vikings and boats and pirate raids are the route Ubisoft is headed in 2020.

I don't think Bioware will survive now. I wish Microsoft bought Bioware before EA. :smh:

There is still a chance that Microsoft would buy them back EA but yeah... I think it's a wrap for them.

I was excited when Casey Hudson originally left Bioware to head up Microsoft studies awhile back and was kind of tripping when he left to go back to Bioware... when the OG founders left...

but now I understand why.. Dude is part of the problem.

Man Bioware could do no fucking Wrong.. for Decades.... and as soon as Microsoft let them out to fly their wings... they have been shitty..

I think the same thing for Bungie.

I don't care how popular Destiny 1 and 2 are.. the Bungie Magic is gone.

I was straight coming in to post it....

The Article makes perfect sense and explains why Andromedia was problematic....... Andromedia was also in the Frostbite engine...

Even some of EA Sports's titles using it now wtf..

EA needs a takeover. So many good studios dying there and franchises being wasted.

Disney never shouldve given them the Star Wars license IMO..

If that Jedi:Fallen Order game thats in development doesnt have strong enough sales(as well as Titanfall 3 doing the same)they may shut down Respawn..then again only thing saving that studio now is Apex Legends

yea i agree as i stated in my post above yes sony has the best exclusives we know this but just as a all out system xbox has it beat.and exclusives aside and a game comes out on both ps4 and xbox what console you buying it for?XBOX and why? XBOX ENHANCED 4K BABY!.no i know youre thinking im a xbox fanboy but youre wrong i have all the systems and play on all but TO ME i think the xbox one x is the better system between the two.lol oh i forgot one thing lol its 2019 and why the heck cant you video chat your friends on the ps4? or even skype.:cmonson: :ssshhh:

I’m late to comment but these are facts....

For the older gamer... The Xbox One Is probably the best thing I’ve ever seen.
It’s started off wonky but this is a damn beast... now and it isn’t even just cause of the games... I use this thing for everything now.

I sense a disturbance in the micro transactional dark side....

I foresee 5.99 customization options and power up shit...

Want your dude to flip over a tie fighter and slice in half....

Well that move is going to cost you 1,000,000 force points ..... but for the low price of 29.99 you can buy 800,000 force points now.
That Dev said there isn't any. It's EA but for now let hope that they can keep them out of it.
