fuck xbox 360, the original xbox works like it's supposed to and why can't my got damn 360 do the same.

this will be my 3rd fucking box to be replaced, if it fucks up again, i'm getting a ps3.

I'm debating on getting a 360. I already own a ps3, which I love to death. I just want the "best of both worlds". But hearing all these RROD type of shit is not good on my end. I don't want to invest my money on something thats most likely going to break.

Alot of people are saying the newer models don't have this problem and it was a first gen problem.

Also, someone mentioned in another thread that he purchased a 360 from best buy with the $50 replacement plan warranty thing. If the xbox breaks, he brings it back and gets a new one on the spot.

definately get the warranty. its just easier. its a more expensive alternative but its piece of mind. i got mine exchanged in about 5 minutes.

the newer models rrod less. i know i dont play my current 360 often but when i got it back i did and after about 8-10 hours on it didnt get that hot. it is loud as a motherfucker though.

there are still some rrod's happpening with newer models, elites/halo edition/hdmi arcade and premium

but its happening less. it will be better when the next motherboard is released probably.

i would say the majority of the reports still coming are still from older machines (look at the Bully game issue its only with older 360's)

i wont stop someone from buying a 360. you cant deny the ease of xbox live for match making and the large library of games but

not exactly it's inluded in the support if the studio wishes to use it. so if liongate releases a dvd and wants to use vc-1 blu ray players must support it. but the movie studio does not have to use it. sure the group that reps vc-1 has a win by being added as a standard but it has to get used.

I had a problem with my PS3 due to the router dropping the connection during an update and it fucked up the system, I got a replacement one a week later.

basically anything can happen, but I didn't trust MS enough to give them a second change like I did sony and Im not a fanboy, I had the PS2 and the Original Xbox and actually like the Original Xbox more thats why I was drawn to the 360, now I'm probably gonna stick with Sony.

Although I must say the people on Sony's offical playstation forums are a bunch of bitches and they provide no help when you need it they seem to think that it's wrong for people to come to the site when people need help, When last time I checked thats what A FUCKING SITE IS FOR.

Seventy Percent Failure Rate



CheapyD mentioned while our distinguished guest on Aeropodcast 24 that he had posted a new poll asking Xbox 360 owners if their consoles had failed. On CAGcast 110 this week he reveals the results. Out of a whopping 3000-plus respondents to his poll -- all of whose responses are made public and are site registrants -- the percentage of users whose Xbox 360 had died was nearly 60%. Sixty percent! He goes on to say that if you count the number of units that had died the system failure rate is actually 70% due to some people having had multiple 360's die on them.

This is a stupendous number, something that CheapyD and Wombat readily admit is a horrendous embarassment to Microsoft. The kicker? They still haven't fixed the problem yet. Apparently the Falcon motherboards being put into the refurbished Xbox 360's are to some extent experiencing the RROD, but the jury is still out as to how much more reliable the new design is than the old one.

As you learned during our podcast, CheapyD did opt to send in his Japanese 360 for repair and he tells the story of its pickup and when he expects to see it again during the CAGcast..

Home made Xbox 360 heat pipe GPU cooler​

I wanted to have a nice heatpipe cooler, like the people who got one after they had sent in their xbox for RROD repair. So I made one myself

For this I used two heatpipes and the brackets from a Zalman heatpipe HDD cooler. The brackets proofed to be a good tool to bend and straighten the pipe to my needs.

Once the pipes were bent I used pliers to flatten the pipe to make it fit into the GPU-sink. Then I soldered the pipes onto the sink. For this I used the kitchen stove to get it hot enough. I guess the next pictures speak for themselves:

know it looks kinda sucky, If i where to do it again it'd probably look a lot better. The heatsink has suffered a little from experimenting, but hey it works all great . The additional fan that I placed now blows directly on both the CPU and GPU heatsink, great isn't it?:

As for the temperatures, the fans don't start to blow very loud after a while anymore. This proofes that the temperatures are lower because that's what triggers the fans to run faster.

Besides that I also modded the psu brick. Mine had a very noisy fan in it and hardly produced any airflow. My idea: remove the fan and add a lot of ventilation holes:

About 230 3mm holes, and no fan . It was kinda tricky to make it work because the psu won't start without an rmp signal from the fan. Luckily this could be fixed easily: just connect the blue rpm wire to the black ground wire and then the psu and xbox boots without hesitation.
