who is the greatest black quarterback in the nfl so far? THREAD FROM 2011... WHATS YOUR ANSWER NOW??

It's between Moon and Mcnabb. They have the best resume. Doug Williams has the ring and all but not the career to support him. Moon is already in the HOF and Mcnabb is going as well.......probably...lol

since when do championships not count??

Top Two?
So The First White Player to Win a Super
Bowl Should Be top two as well????
Doug Wiiliams Had Suspect Career Numbers
He is at best Top 10 Black QB's of all time

Doug Williams may have suspect career numbers but the one shot he got at a Superbowl ring he nailed. So his effort can't be discredited.

The only stat that matters is did you win? Doug won.

Moon
Cunningham
McNabb

Williams gets noted for being the first Black qb to win the SuperBowl but he doesn't make the list.

I still say there still hasn't been a Black qb to LEAD a team to a SuperBowl victory. Williams took over in the playoffs or very end of the season, can't remember which one.

If Williams is one or two on your list cause of what he did in the SB then Timmy Smith is in your top five of RB for what he did in the same SB, right?

waitaminnit... because williams didn't start the whole season that means his accomplishment doesn't count??

he took over the team when it really counted IN THE PLAYOFFS! LED THEM to the Superbowl and won. McNabb makes the list and he CHOKED in the Superbowl, Cunningham never even got that close. Now I'm not saying he should be number one but he damn sure shouldn't be less than two considering hes the ONLY one the list of ALL black quarterbacks with a ring.

We're talking about a body of work here.

What Doug Williams did was amazing, and it opened the doors. No one is taking away his accomplishment.

But, don't front.

And by the logic some of you cats are using-

Dan Marino never won a ring. Does that mean that Mark Rypien is better than him?

Barry Sanders never won a ring. Does that mean that Ricky Watters is better than him? ( If you think Ricky was better then Barry, you mad)

We are strictly talking about talent here.

Doug Williams IS NOT better than Warren Moon.

Never seen Moon play and only caught Cunningham during the latter part of his career so I'll go with 1.McNair, 2.Mcnabb 3.Vick. I always loved Mcnair's tenacity and toughness..before Vick he was the almost electrifying black qb to me.

That's a pretty dumb comment. That's like saying since you didn't see Jordan, you would put Carmello above him.

McNabb has all the most memorable let downs of any Black NFL QB, I'll give you that. He admitted to not knowing the rules when it counted. He doesn't work out hard, he just lasted a long time because of all the times he has sit out of games.

show me another black QB with a ring?

williams has done what mnabb, mcnair, moon and every other black QB couldn't do and hasn't done so far and they didn't have the pressure of being the first to have to do it.

I mean at the end of the day winning a championship has to account for something. Think about it if Lebron never wins a championship would he or should be be considered in the same breath as Jordan, Kobe and Magic?

I understand where you're coming from, but now are you saying that Williams was better than Marino?

A great game and a great career are two different things.

I reiterate that only one QB one everyone's lists here in in the HOF.

In fact he's in two, the CFL and NFL HOFs.

Case closed!

I didn't say it doesn't count, matter of fact I said he should be noted for it, your question is who was the greatest so far and I don't think his career was great enough to be on the top of the list.

Now answer my question or better yet two of them. Is Trent Dilfer one of the greatest qb to ever play the game? You know since he LED his team to a SuperBowl win.

At this point I guess its settled damn near unanimously that warren moon is the best hands down..what I'm talking about now is who is number two...

I say that should be williams...hell williams is barely on most peoples list at this point.

come dude.."he just didn't fuck up that year.":rolleyes:

a person who just didn't fuck up that year doesn't win MVP..or perform one of the best halfs of a superbowl EVER.:rolleyes:

Dude had a GREAT superbowl game, not trying to diminish his achievements, but that season was strike shortened, and his whole career was sort of mediocre outside of that one season. Give me warren moon all day. He played his ass off on some shitty teams.

OKAY TOP FIVE GREATEST BLACK QBs EVER (so far)

And its agreed thats Moon is number 1.

1. Warren Moon
2. Doug Williams
3. Steve McNair
4. Randall Cunningham
5. Donovan McNabb

He took a pathetic Tampa Bay team to their first winning season and to the NfC Championship.

Superbowls are TEAM accomplishments. We're talking about individual QBs and who's best. People get way too caught up the that bullshit since the media makes it a big deal. You don't have to see the field once to get a Superbowl win. I wish people would stop making that the end all be all of being a great QB.

Y'all know what Doug Williams career comp % was...? 49.5%...his QB rating...? 69.4...and y'all wanna put him above Moon cuz The Redskins (not Doug Williams all by himself) won a Superbowl, c'mon.

Moon is #1. It's not even close. Hell I'd put Marlin Briscoe over Doug Williams and I LIKE Doug Williams.

#2 would have to be Donovan McNabb. 5 NFC Championship games in 10 years. He has thrown for over 35,000 yards and 225 TDs. His touchdown to interception record is a remarkable 2:1. Definitely #2.

#3 in my opinion is Randall Cunningham. He played on an Eagles team whose best receivers were a fullback and a tight end. lol!

#4 for me is Air McNair. He was literally 1 yard away from becoming the second black quarterback to ever win a Superbowl.

#5 is Michael Vick... we'll see how his career ends...

#6 is Marlin Briscoe

#7 is James "Shack" Harris

#8 is Doug Williams

#9 is Daunte Culpepper

#10 is a tie between Kordell Stewart and Vince Evans

How the hell can you put Randall ahead of Mcnabb........Shit Randall would tell you Mcnabh had better career and got the eagles farther with less.

Doug Williams. The rest haven't really done shit. Warren Moon if you're going by numbers, but the nigga never got a ring.

Moon, Cunningham, McNabb...

the only reason I have Cunningham over McNabb is... Cunningham maintained decent stats and put up wins playing in the NFC East during mid 80s to early 90s... those defenses are legendary, he survived playing the Redskins, Cowboys, Giants 2x to 3x each a season.

The NFC East McNabb had to face was tough but it was just a shadow of the 80s and early 90s NFC East

Yeah, but when most of the good guy were on strike! :hmm: He was good, however it makes you think what if... :hmm:

My picks are Marlin Briscoe, James Harris then Brother Warren Moon. These Brothers had major shit to over come other than playing the fucking game. Brother Moon was paid better than the two Brothers that open the door for all of the other that followed. I'm not knocking any of my Brothers that has played the game. Most of us are changed from a Quaterback to something else when we get to collage so for a cat to be in the game in that spot in the NFL (Not For Long) says a TON for me!!! Stay blessed!

:yes::yes::yes:

Of all the black quarterbacks who is the greatest one since there've been black quarterbacks?

The question actually should be..

"Who is the second greatest Black QB in the NFL so far?"

Because Warren Moon is the greatest and it's not even close. We're not going to even throw in his CFL numbers... then it just gets gaudy.

I wish people would stop giving false info......
:hmm:

This conversation begins and ends with Doug Williams.

The thread title should say who is the second greatest black quarterback, only then can we start debating...
