What dream car did you nearly pull the trigger on?

911 Carrera GTS

Looking for a 2020. I can't afford a new one. I can pay for it, but I can't afford it. I almost pulled the trigger in March, but some unplanned expenses came up. I'm gettin that car though.

The more searches I do on the C8 the more I them being traded in at or before 3,000 miles. Tons of Z06’s have less than 500 miles and already either sold back or traded in. YouTube is saying a transmission issue on the 21-23 models, with a few saying the warranty jerked em around before eventually giving them a new transmission.

Crazy story. I knew a 72 years old lady who was trying to sell her deceased son's H2. She had no other living relatives. I offered a low ball offer of 12k. She was like let me think about it. A few days later she tried to drive it on the highway and ended up flipping it. She was ok but the truck was totaled. :fuckyousay:

I can’t say that this was my dream car but I liked and wanted one since I saw the H1 in the early 90’s.

Once I saw the H2 I knew that I had to have it.

Like I said it wasn’t my “Dream” car, but I did eventually get it and sold it years and years ago.

Man I’m at the dealership getting an oil change. The garage is PACKED with C8 corvettes. PACKED! I step outside and they were lined up behind the service area. In the pull-in area, they have em fitted like puzzle pieces. It’s a scary sight. I asked my guy is there a recall or something and he said, no. Goddamn.

Porsche 911. Test drove one in 2015 after my first big paycheck
Soon as I hit the accelerator, I knew I wasn’t mature enough to handle that…,

But I know I will probably get one in the next few years
I remember my first ride in a Porsche 911. It was a 964 Carrera 4. Acceleration from the 3.6 boxer engine was astounding and the handling was impeccable, but the first Porsche that I drove was a stolen 930 Turbo, the widow maker. I had to take it 40 miles up the motorway to it's destination. 2nd gear doing 90mph overtaking other cars. When that turbo eventually spooled up you better be ready because that thing will throw you into the wall.
My Co-D back in the day had the first ever Boxster that I saw. Guards Red. He had it imported from Germany, Porsche wern't even selling it in the UK at that point so nobody knew it was what was later known as a hairdressers car. That 2.5 boxer engine had some grunt to it but 911s pissed all over it. The brakes and the handling were amazing though. That car got us a lot of status on the roads to. The big boys were offering to drop parcels on us on consignment, nothing up front. It also got us a lot of attention from the authorities, guys off the block who had been pinched were coming back to us and telling us that once the tape recorder had been switched off the cops were asking them what are the guys in the 2 seater red Porsche about? That car opened a lot of doors because it impressed people. The crazy thing was my mate held that car for 18 months and only made 2 payments on it. Don't be influenced by what material things people have, it may not be what or how it seems!

Bro that weirdo @‘s me and mentions me in every thread like a jealous whore. It’s stalking at this point. He’s obsessed with my pockets too. I have private convos with niggas on here .

Looks like an M550. I had a 2018 that I bought as a CPO and traded it after 2 years and some damage caused by a truck backing into it. It was never the same after so I moved to a Lexus ES 350. I'm pretty much done with luxury or premium cars now. The thrill is no longer there, I'm back to the ugly ride is better than a pretty walk mentality now.

Where are Corvette guys on the board? I’m obsessed with the C8 but it’s plagued with issues; mainly transmission and electrical. I’m seeing craaaazy deals on 2022’s and damn bear MSRP on 24s. But even with the warranty I worry about my car sitting at a dealer for a month waiting on a transmission. Sadly, there’s few other cars I truly want.

Once you get what you think you want you’ll get bored . No matter how fun and dope it was the first few months or years. At this point I just see cars as an appliance and refuse to waste money on that shit.

They end up in scrap yards in a few years anyways . I bought new back in 2021 now I’m like meh the car is a car. I’ll only buy used and cheap going forward. Unless you’re into impressing gold diggers and men nobody gives a fuck what you drive.

this is so true.

back in 2011 i copped a 2009 AMG S63 and nobody could tell me anything....

i got bored with it real quick.

When I was in High School, these were my dream cars. I've more or less owned both. These days my dream cars are just updated versions of these:

Came across a low mileage used 2005 for around $98k, but heard they're not great for city driving as it affects the transmission. Came down to about $1k/month after my trade-in. Glad I didn't pull the trigger because the following year things went left with a few of my main clients that put me in a bind. Everything happens for a reason. I'm tip toeing around getting the C8 but the issues got me nervous. If money was no option though, I'd have a McLaren 570s.

I keep telling myself NO because of those transmission issues but :pain:

The 2025’s hit the lots mid September, so either I’ll cop a discounted 24 or pick a 2025 right in the pussy.

I remember as a kid trying to convince my father to buy a Lexus coupe at an auction.

The guy is very impulsive and actually took a bid.

Thankfully he lost the bid as Im sure he would have brought up to my mom how I had some part in it.

I've a C7 Z06. I looked at the C8's, but I'm 6'4", so it was already a NO for me..... :hulksmash2:

Secondly, I've also seen a few cooling and transmission problems with the C8 Z06.

I believe that they rushed the design and did not work out all the bugs with going from a front to a mid-engine platform.

They did the same thing with the C7 Z06 and improved on it each year. Mine was built in early 2016 and already had the bigger radiator and such, so fortunately, mine skipped the cooling issues. ASK me about wheels though.... LOL I'm on my 3rd set and went aftermarket because the factory wheels tend to crack.

I have a Z06 too. The C8 tranny is trash. People make so many excuses but the shit is so bad that I see posts twice a week in the corvette groups where their shit crapped out the year they bought it. I have a dealer hitting me for a 2024 convertible for 70k. Has 1500 miles on it. But even under warranty, who wants to ride scared?
