Weight Loss/get in better shape journey thread

I'm thinking about this... I don't know about $140, gotta use it religiously if I'm gonna spend that on a jump rope.
  • Heaviest Jump Rope: At 7.5 lbs, it is the heaviest jump rope available, providing maximum resistance.
  • Patented Flexible Metal Core: Ensures durability and a consistent, effective workout.
  • Durable Construction: Made from the same 100% poly rope used in the Hyper Rope battle rope.
  • Comfortable Handles: Ergonomically designed handles provide a secure and comfortable grip.
  • Versatile Use: Suitable for cardio, strength training, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).
  • Portable: Easy to carry, making it perfect for home, gym, or outdoor workouts.

Edit: $120 on Amazon:

So I did ten minutes with my normal weighted rope today and there’s no need to go chasing waterfalls when I haven’t mastered the rivers and lakes. The heavier one will definitely have me sore.

The one upside, as a subpar jump roper, is I think the thicker rope will be easier to anticipate and not fuck up executing the jump.

I lost 45lbs in 11 months by walking 10 miles a week and eating under 1800 calories a day with minimal sugar.
I wanted a method that I could maintain. No rigorous exercise, no restrictive diet.
The expensive part is having to give away expensive clothes for a smaller size.

Good stuff bro...Congrats!

Homer Simpson at 240 is notable… I once weighed 240, that was my worst but I didn’t realize it was Homer Simpson territory.

sharing a quick update
started going to HIIT gym in November 2021 (got sold using a black friday sale)

in 3 years since I've joined; i've gone to almost 1,000 classes, lost 55 lbs and cut my 5k time from 42 mintues to 32ish
I've also partcipated in quite a few fitness events including Spartan 5k race, Deka strong and Hyrox Doubles

i am doing shit I never thought I could do let alone in my early 40s

one thing that has been alil frustrating is that many of my family and friends are quick to compliment the progress I've made but when I suggest joining me or finding something that works for them...crickets. Its really disheartening cause most of my family/friends are black men and we have the lowest life expetancy in the US. (my dad died at 60) Its not all bad. My younger sister has joined one of my gyms and we work out together 3-4 times and my wife goes to a HIIT gym 2-3 times a week (i try to join her once a week when possible).

also unforunate that the gyms I go to are pretty expensive so they are predominately white ppl/non black ppl. Not a deal breaker and I have made some friends but always appreciate seeing my ppl there even though its few and far apart

but i just found a predominately black running club I plan to join

goals for next year include losing another 20-25 lbs (i've kinda plateaued and looking to run more to compensate), getting under 30 minutes in 5k, running (walking) a 10k and competing in doubles Hyrox again but improving my team

to all by brothers keep up the good work
if you aint getting busy living, you getting busy dying (choose carefully)

Did my testosterone panel my shit at a 462
The dr said for my age (45) acting advice 425/450 is good
But 800 is where they would like it
So now I’m starting this specialized series to raise it and help my body produce it more

Are there any symptoms you noticed that would indicate low testosterone?

Got off to a bad start yesterday. About half way through my run, I took a nasty fall. Took me about a minute to get up and my hands were bleeding and I waited about two more minutes to stop my clock and try again, which ruined my time.

But when I got up, I annihilated the remaining nearly 3 miles. I was really satisfied with my speed since I'm usually better for distance than speed.

7.5 miles an hour, not bad over three miles.

Then what did I do today?

Basically 6 miles, 8.5 miles per hour.

And I'm not even back in shape yet. Watch what my next post, coming soon, looks like.

Lemme know how it works
I drive trucks and do food delivery so I can’t be on the toilet all day
If you want to detox just start eating whole foods. All try and drink a galloon a day or as much as possible. Also do intermittnet fasting it will help big time. Its not magic formula you just have to let the body heal itself.
Just getting older
Nothing sexually but man my energy levels be trash and I don’t eat Fast foods like that but a guy put me on with the VA and says it changed his life
Yeah the energy levels and mental focus be off.

There’s one piece of information that’s important to cats trying to lose weight. This is something I think people overlook cause it seems so small but they’re so major!

Cut out on or at least cut back on all SAUCES!!! I’ve been doing research on the calories in sauces and I’ve seen anywhere from 60 to almost 200 calories per service. Use sauces that have low to no calories!

I think many people overlook sauces cause they’re so focused on cutting out foods from their diet. Sauces are sneaky calories we gotta be aware of and people wonder why the scale won’t go down or keeps going up!

Also, be cautious of the butter, milk products and substitute milk products as well. They’re sneaky calories too.
