VA HS runner attacks opponent with baton during relay race

My son was there he was running in the upcoming relay. He had told me about it and I said yeah right. Then he showed me the video, damn my bad. He said she was on the ground for about 30 min holding her head.

WTF..lol I ran track in hs & college and coached for 6 yrs. Batons aren't that heavy gauge metal they weigh 1.76 ounces so why in the hell was she on the ground for 30 mins?

Damn. Yeah I read in a Reddit thread there was an audible “ding” heard throughout the stadium when the baton hit that girls head.

I don't know if that is true or not, do you know how loud folks are cheering/yelling during those races

They aren’t, and that said, the girl swung down at the other kids head while running full speed, and if she caught her on the side of the head and/or caught her flush with the top of the baton (the lip of a baton is rounded and more metal that than the shaft), the assaulted could have been pretty out of it, the kid ain’t get a concussion from anything else…. :dunno:

I don't know he is 15 so he prob don't know the timeline. She did say her docs said she may have a fractured skull. She did swing hard though. Correct I ran track also and those batons are lightweight.

Also, the Portsmouth NAACP shows yet again why the influence of that organization at a national level is a joke. They are defending the assailant?? What about the kid, who is ALSO black, who got attacked? I can’t stand these morons leading some of these orgs, sometimes sitting one out is the right move.

Said that to someone yesterday.

Reminds of this race:

He was just trying to help buddy cross the line faster. :giggle:
That part, too.

The behavior from this family is a bad look. No accountability.
Their best chance of ending this would've been to take accountability immediately and called out their daughter out for the hit then offer to pay any medical expenses. Playing dumb is gonna have them paying for years. I've spoken with people in their 30's that have had their wages garnished since their 20's after having a judgment against them. There might've been an off chance that their homeowners insurance could cover this incident, but when criminal charges are filed it's a wrap.

Her and her family are making this a mockery. She cant even cry right. The other athlete has doctor notes and medical bills. A Gofundme will be set up after the court hearings.

Outdoor track just started I will be checking to see if they let her run.
I could see right through her with those fake crocodile tears.

that's why it's funny people supporting her having some sympathy when she deserves none of that.

But we shouldn't be surprised about his.

This shit's getting a bit ridiculous, ok it's all the way ridiculous.

Just admit that you bashed the girl by mistake because she got too close and you got mad and move on .

All this community support's ridiculous and make them look foolish.

Here are their track times. Kaelen may have a future so I can see why her parents are pressing charges. But Alaila is not so fast but she does about 7 events so there may be a college that gives her a chance.

Kaelen

Alaila

Alaila might have to give up Track &Field and focus on something that better suits her talents like

What’s crazy is how this reminds me of the George Floyd case. Like, we looked at the damn video and saw him get murdered in cold blood. But yet, you have those folks like “let’s wait for the facts” while the accused is now playing victim.

humans are crazy as fuck.

Yes humans a

Yes humans are crazy as fuck!

Nobody’s calling the woman a murderer, we just believe she hit the woman on purpose.

And she’s going on news outlets talking about how she’s a great person, never hurt anyone and personally makes all of the Girl Scout cookies! :roflmao:

She just needs to say that she made a mistake and move on, and spend the next 10 years in prison for attempted murder

We're in times where truth is quickly eroding. What used to be factual or objective truth is no more. We could be looking and touching a bright red car at the same time and I can argue it's technically pink when viewed from a different angle.

They let Everett the hitter run in the Regionals. She finished 15th in the 200 and didn't qualify for the finals.

My son is there and he finished :04 sec off in the 100 to go to the finals tomorrow. He just ran under 23 sec in the 200, missed qualification by :10 sec. He is a sophomore and really enjoys track. I am going to spend the summer keeping him focused on his craft vs video games like he normally does.

Congrats to your son!

And yeah, the hitter's not as fast without a stick in her hand!

She finished 4th in the 100m hurdles and will run in the final tomorrow. She finished 2nd in the triple jump with a 36-4. She is a senior and does about 6 events so colleges may still grab her up.

Do the other families realize who she is?

I'm shocked they're letting her run still. Imagine a football player hitting another kid with his helmet and still being allowed to play in the state playoffs.
