VA HS runner attacks opponent with baton during relay race

Do the other families realize who she is?

I'm shocked they're letting her run still. Imagine a football player hitting another kid with his helmet and still being allowed to play in the state playoffs.
A lot of these families don't pay attention. They watch their child's event and take them home.

My son said the track teams know about her and they were making comments.

This was me, until I actually paid attention at this one meet.......

this lil ass white girl (like barely 5ft tall) was smoking everyone's boots in 100 and 200. Come to find out she's ranked top 10 in the state and is only a fucking freshman. She has a sister that's either a Jr or senior but not nearly as bad ass as she is.....

All the other parents were talking about her and how people really want to hate on her, but "she's too good, a nice girl and pretty. It's unfair! Can she have one struggle?!" Haha

Might not be but she sure got shit crisis management coaching, had the nerve to say at the outset of her interview that those are talking about the attacked’s physical health, but what about HER mental health? Get the fuck out of here.

The attacker, I checked her results, looks like she might’ve had a chance at the state championship this year in the triple jump, she can cancel those plans, I have to imagine her high school track career is over. Meanwhile, the kid who got attacked was second in the state in the 100M dash the last two years and the indoor state champ in the 55M. I hope she can get back to form because she has a future in the sport.

As I listened to the 'splainin, that's the part that confirmed INTENT for me, along with the video, of course. She had that online vitriol coming. Wasn't she still running after the victim fell from getting bashed on some twisted version on Kendrick Lamar's "WOP WOP WOP WOP!!!" strikes?

That kid is more concerned about pressed edges than the apparent intentional harm she caused an opponent.

They let Everett the hitter run in the Regionals. She finished 15th in the 200 and didn't qualify for the finals.

My son is there and he finished :04 sec off in the 100 to go to the finals tomorrow. He just ran under 23 sec in the 200, missed qualification by :10 sec. He is a sophomore and really enjoys track. I am going to spend the summer keeping him focused on his craft vs video games like he normally does.
Congrats to him. Get him in the weight room and work on getting out the blocks, the start will get him .10-.30 if he can master it, and tell him, don’t anticipate the gun, react to the gun.

His time qualified him for states in the 200m so he is excited about that. His starts are his main issue. Gets off slow and dont let someone false start, he loses all focus.

It's my fault I didn't think he was that serious with it since during the off-season he is not training. Thinks its just natural skill. After states he will take a week off to relax then I will be training with him til indoor track starts.

Good stuff man. Sounds like he’s got a gift and you’re up for the task to nurture it, that’s what’s up.

Get him a set of the professional Gill blocks, they are not cheap and if you take them to a meet they will get legs and you’ll never see them again, but get them and take him to the track and just do reps. Practice the cadence of different starters since some are 2 seconds after “set” before they shoot the gun, some are 3 seconds, etc. you might even be able to see if the athletic director at school will give him a set to use for the summer.

I told him last year I will buy him blocks. And he said he can just borrow the schools. I may look into it this year but im not spending $700, damn. My son will be the one to leave them at a school or on a bus and they disappear.

Smart move to just use the schools’ then, because them bitches get legs at a meet, QUICK.

You might have him join a local track club for the summer too, one that runs AAU or
USATF, but it’s a chance to get more reps in. Stars are about, in my opinion, process, rhythm and getting reps in to perfect the process.
