He's still talking about Umar

For anyone who observed that awkward situation between myself and Dr Umar Johnson, I share these three things:
1) I still don't hate him or dislike him. His commentary is some of the best I've ever seen. That is not going to change and I'll be glad to work with him in the future if things ever evolve for the better.
2) Black people can disagree without the world coming to an end. Although I don't plan on touching on this issue much in the future, it's OK to have a difference of opinion or even a nasty argument every now and then. Sometimes, family members have to let their feelings be known, even if the problem isn't resolved at the dinner table.
3) Never, never, never feel that you have to make a choice between supporting me or supporting Umar. It's perfectly fine to do both and our little spat should not make anyone ever feel like they have to make a choice. Whether you disagree with me or not, you're always welcome into my family and you're also welcome to correct me if you think I'm wrong. While we may not always see eye-to-eye, I respect your point of view and I will always listen to the people more than anything or anyone else.
I just thought I would share this in order to clarify where I stand; the disagreement with Umar is kind of the elephant in the middle of the room, and it would be silly to pretend like it doesn't exist. Yes, I was definitely disappointed in Umar, as my videos showed, but I do not hate or even dislike him. In fact, I was probably most upset because we never had a chance to work together. Despite any imperfections (which we all possess), Umar is still a brilliant and inspirational man, as he always will be. That is not going to change.
Thank you for listening, I appreciate each and every one of you. Now let's get back to building black empires!
Sincerely,
Dr Boyce Watkins
