***Tripster's 2008 Investments (Ongoing thread)***

I don't use stockcharts except mostly for showing someone something on a chart or if I am trying to learn something.

For charting stuff I can use optionsxpress, Ameritrade and IB. I get streaming real time for can use QuoteTracker with all 3 also.

If I want simple charts and level II, I can use AMTD java based stuff. If I want to put the indicators on there and I don't want to use java based as opposed to software I use optionsxpress chart or interactive brokers (futures, index and options charts). When I want to calculate an options spread I use Optionsxpress. If I want to run a software I use AMTD strategydesk (has backtesting so I can test an indicator or strategy) or Quotetracker (easy to use. Lots of features on the chart including pivots, . Both of which are owned by AMTD anyhow.

I am not sure what you mean by overlay. But if you mean placing another stock on the same chart then that can be done on the AMTD, OptionsXpress and IB charts by just putting both in symbol in the chart seperated by a space.

chart_brkr_oxp_qqqq_overlayed_with_dia.jpg - 0.10MB

QT chart of ecbot@ym jun 08_113hr.gif - 0.05MB (IB Quote Source)

that chart on dell looked good i was about to ask if anyone uses stockcharts pay service i would like overlays on the chart but thats not easy to find any ideas kj? or anyone else

http://groups.google.com/group/bgstockwatch

stockcharts has an overlay of 9 indicators so you can see the on top of te charts, for the same way yahoo lets you see bollingerbands as an overlay is the way i would like to see RSI, stochastiscs etc, instead of above or below the chart.

No. All the charts I have been looking at have some stuff that are strictly lower indicators and some are upper. Most of the stuff that are lower, uses some of the stuff in the upper for their calculation. Part of the (one of the main) reason some of the stuff have to be lower indicator is that they use a different scales.

PoPo is it good time for CAGC??? Peace

CAGC looks oversold, and I'd see if it breaks under 2 & then start a position, many China issues have been hurt by the earthquake (some have benefited) but look for a area you are comforable on w/ the price,,,

I always tell people when you enter a position have $ investment in mind & then invest 1/2 of that amount, so if you intent is to invest 2k on CAGC, instead invest 1k & watch how your investment works,,,if it goes lower you can always average down,,,if it goes up you stand firm & watch your invested $

Curious, why is PAL doing so poorly? It sounded solid on here but im down a few thousand since getting in when suggested.Whats up with em and what are chances it will go back up past the $8 range?

Thats what I was most concerned about the earthquake and freeze on food prices and construction.China is in such bull mode. Taking a half position is always wise. I will. Thanks for your input.

There is more to it than that though popo. From what I am reading in that book; Millionaire Traders (referred/posted by Casca). They mostly average down when they are certain their call is the right call and at the same time they watch the trade to see if the premise they enter the trade on is still valid and whether the forces acting on it keeps it inline with their time horizon.

From what I have read so far in the book. They all average up though.

"Doing so poorly" i actually see it quite opposite, PAL ran from 3.50 at the start of the year to the low 9s, it ran while Palladium was moving from 400 to 580/oz, with that run in a short amount of time the stock became very overextended as did palladium, both corrected, PAL to about mid 4s(4.62), in the same frame Palladium corrected from 580 to 400/oz, Palladium is now back at 450/oz, & PAL is back to 6.75
Seems like you expected a straight line upward on the stock,,,sorry man,,not how it goes. PAL is a great play for the long term as South Africa struggles to power thier country thru the winter & Platinum & Palladium prices climb (fyi thier winter is NOT our winter, thiers starts in a month).....PAL will be higher, i'm glad the rally has subdued as it owuld have again become overextedned & then all you should expect would have been a pullback,,,right now it's well poised for futher upside....
PAL will do fine,...patience,,
........
in regards to averaging up/down, every trader have thier rules & what workd for them, what I suggested was indeed if you believed the upside was there, after all if it wasn't why would you even buy again...when you think a stock is a better hit than miss,,,,you tend to load up.

Good pickup man,,it's up nicely today...

TITN was up lovely today before the giveback,,

market has been a bit shaky of late...
the only stock i'm 100% sure about is PBR, SU a close #2

Scottrade fucking sucks when it comes to options. They denied me margin and options trading in a new account because of my credit report and worse of all is they don't have trailing stops for options. Because of no trailing stop I had to set a target for in HPQ puts and I got out pretty early cause I was being conservative. If I had that trailing stop I could still be in and doubling my money now.

ALL is unknown,,,just keep an eye on Palladium prices & you'll see the direction lil PAL is going,,,right now it's 461/oz, Platinum is $2199/oz, Rhodium (which has no investment trade value & thus sports true supply/demand price) is $9580/oz

Market was a bloodshed today...not much green to be seen as we watch oil go towards $150...told the board what to get in...not sure any listened,,lovely returns

Some Canadian coal stocks I got from my Canadian buddy who says he is making a killing off them. I met him a few years back. Sometime back in 2001 when we were trading penny stocks. He used to work in Alberta near the oil fields as a mechanic and made good money but he gave it up to trade full time.

He said "the main one is GXS, but the area plays around it are SMI, SWR, NAG, GXX.H, WGF, AXI..."

I got the whole convo on my page. http://www.bgol.us/board/showthread.php?p=4115908#post4115908

I am going to look into couple and see if I want to make a play. I am also still looking at IVN here to pick up at least 1 long term contract because of the write up a while back said that IVN would have some good news sometime this summer from Mongolian govt.

Dear KI,

I just spoke to Tony Sagami, who’s recently back from China and headed out there again in a few days.

He gave me an intense 20-minute briefing on his seven favorite China stocks, and it turned out to be one of the most exciting investment conversations I’ve ever had. I recorded every word, and we just posted the entire briefing to our website.

In it, Tony explains why he’s convinced that China’s unprecedented economic expansion is just beginning and he names each of the seven China stocks to help you grab your share of the great profit potential.

To listen now, just turn up your computer speakers and click here.

Very interesting. SINO made big moves,,shiping is good. I'll have to try and follow this dude picks.@chuppies!

Dawg thanks first but coinz got as low as 3.60ish if i recall not that I was in that low LMAO. I'll do a flat sell off tomm or early next week to be ready but like i said ill be out for 30-45 days at the most then right back on it.

I'm still kicking myself for not jumping into SINO yesterday. Up 12% in pre-market. Is it too late to get in? I'm expecting a huge selloff pretty soon.

On another note, did you see COIN's report? Terrible  Revenue of $260K, loss of $2.4 million. I'm staying clear of this one. Pure speculation. I'd say it was even better off w/o any earnings. Good luck

Consiggy...careful on ripping COIN apart, that report was actually great, this was a development stage company who jus managed to make 250k in a Q, w/o thier business being fully ONLINE, it was a GOOD sign (something that suprised me) they are NOW revenue generating & with the Woodbridge plant soon to come online it should make for an interesting few months, realize the O/S on COIN is 5.44M w/ a 3.91M float, once fully operational this company could net over $3 in EPS..so while you see a LOSS..there is a bigger story behind it..a $2.4M loss is not that big...COIN i think has a shot to be a big winner,..but, yes you are right it is speculative & it was always tagged by me as such when reccomending it...then again,,,which stock isnt? lol

My buddy is thinking like 30-50 on SINO but I would just use a stop/loss.

popo. Coin kinda remind me of IVN. They could be a real big winner but it's going to take some patience. In the mean time you have to trade the news until the potential is tapped.
