***Tripster's 2008 Investments (Ongoing thread)***

Do to unfortunate catastrophic events China has frozen all food prices until...not lowered...not eased...frozen at already inflated prices. How will this fair for rice stocks?

you might have nailed it on that one, the stock as well as CAGC have been beaten down a bit, one thing I can see from CNOA on the charts is that it is prone to STRONG rallies 50-100%...we'll see how it goes, but I think i will look to get some more here...especially if it dips below .90

PAL...is gearing up for a nice move (slow this time)
other pics ...HOGS-10.50 (not bad),CALM(nice movings there up to 35..40 in short time), GENC(got slammed after a huge move up to 30+, The AGS well are fine, the OILs are better (PBR/RIG/SU/CVX and all my other OIL recc'd)....money to be made folks just got to pick a few winners.....

craziest thing i saw today....RIG on 5/14 closed @ 147.20, down $1.87 from 5/13, it forced May 155 Call contracts down to .10c to close that day....on 5/15 RIG shot up $8.2o to close at 155.40, and those .10c contracts closed at $1.75........... a $500 investment turned into $8,250
a 1,650% gain....ONLY on option expiration week can you get those sorts of gains.

so to the fella askin about can small loot make you something,..well nuff said

here's the thing, options get very cheap in the expiry week, so something you were pake 5x for before you're now in that week only paying x & the volatility in the week is INSANE stock swing like mad..so you can actully buffer both ends very cheap(straddle) so you could have put $500 down on 145 puts & $500 down on 155 calls, meaning if the stock moved bigon either side you'd havea great % return...its amatter of knowing which stocks can do that (the major runs,(RIG/SU/APA/etc) In option trading i find the easiest money is made in the expiry week, becuase the volatily is so insane that you quickly get 100-1000% spikes but you have to be fast & you have to know the stocks that have that kind of action,,,RIG is perfect for that,,not sure if this answers anything LOL, but look , this am you could get APA 140s call(APAEY) for .45 now they $1.00+ 120%+ in about 10minutes...only happens on expiry week like this tho. there are tons going off bigtime right now...correction another 10 mins & you get 2.20/////

One thing you have to remember is markets are manipulated, & come option expiritaion week you see volatily take one a whole new meaning. the swings are extremese the low/highs are wide, the major runs & major downturns excessive ALL in an effort to put puts & calls that are near the money into the money & those make option traders come out nicely. in the last week you see easy 100%-1000% moves, its jest always been like this, so you find your runners & u essentially bank them on 2 sides when they get cheap & should they run you get very nice retrns, then you can play it to the opposite side..the expiry week is the only week you have for these opportunities & say today APA was inplay, those .45c Calls went to 2.20, then you had the puts then got from .50 to 1.00, easy money...in fact if you never trade options, the BEST time to trade them is expiry week where the contracts are dirt cheap (<1.50)...simply put options on expiry week can make you 100-1000% gains,,,

in the last two days i've seen 1)RIG 155s calls move 1700%, 2)APA 140 calls move 1100%...

money to be made,,risks to be taken,,or,,,cop that 2% CD lol

BTW someone must be lovin the TITN movement today...+$2.52 11.5%
PAL up .20 (slow creepin') PD/PL - S/Africa is starting to feel the effects,,,prices 2150/455

Hey as much as I like getting referrals. I have to point out to you that Tradeking does do options because that's all I buy with them. It seems when you signed up you didn't sign up for the works. I usually like to do all one shot. Margin, options, futures (if available), Global trading (if available). That way I don't have to go back and request. Also if they change the requirements later I don't have to worry because I already have them.

TITN is so close to its 52week high. damn what to do..greedy ot not to greedy:confused:

Sell enough to cover cost of entry & then RIDE the rest as free shares,,,TITN never holds its gains, the secondary they offered seemed to have gone over well & they actually overalloted..so shows theres good demand for the shares....

On the options..the occurances i laid forth happen once a month, so come that time you have to be prepared to throw some dice..

The volatility you see at times is just pure manipulation..but profiting from it is very good. I find the week of expiry to be the easiest to make money & easiest to walk away from a position, as you know time is not on your side & you have 5,4,3,2,1 day to be OUT,,so gains get took quick, often times you can't or don't ride out the top but get out midway. All a learnign experieince but i say its good to observe how things move that week...

PAL & PAL+ are heavy in my holdings & i while recomending it here in the high 3's did not get in till later..so I like many of you am waiting, but I know what's there to wait for & i know the capacity of the PMGs...have TGB as well & am holding it AT the 52 week high (lol) no concern...

Got to keep on the commodity wagon, as that bull has YET to run free....

Well ipi went back positive for me today, im thinking about moving out of it some next week, i saw a few mentions on it recently how do you guys like it for the future?

Education Station...
Broaden your knowledge w/ some of the following...
http://stockcharts.com/school/doku....hnical_indicators:relative_strength_index_rsi
RSI - always good to tell you when things are getting "toppy"
& this
http://stockcharts.com/school/doku.php?id=chart_school:chart_analysis:introduction_to_candlesticks
which I myself am now entrenching myself in..

run any chart on stock charts & you'll see the effects when RSI tops 70+ & the runs after it buckles under 30...will give you a sense of your stocks are likely near a top (or bottom)...tricks to the trade gentlemen,,,

I dumped 100% of my IPI. Made $1600, could have made more if I pulled out earlier. I was going to keep a few shares that I got for $45, but fuck it, the company is too new, and volume is too low for me. It will prob do good when the AG's start coming back, but for now, im out of the AG world.

TITN got their overallotment subscribed to...so looks good for it.
Price reacting nicely...

PAL is looking strong,,,hoping it cools a bit before it runs too fast & becomes over extended..

PAL..looks to be getting over extended as stated by the RSI, hoping it cools,,,a down day is necessary for a longer uptrend. While I am long,,it's better to hold a tight range then break out..rather than just go stright up...

read my prior posts on RSI for better understanding,,,i use a 2 period RSI ..

Good look!

i saw TITN going steady at 3.3% earlier, CNOA recovered with a 15% bump still didnt hit my sell point though I'm thinking of moving to a lower % than just 10 10 10, there have been too many times I'ben at 8 and 9% and feel back. ipi for me is SO CLOSE to a break even

I am going to look back over that RSI thing Popo they had it calling intel to be one way or another so i want to see how solid that was and lok at stochastics too, my thing on stochastics is during the day its really hard to read and bounces a lot but im learning none the less.

Word thank for this. Im finding time each day to get into the links you suggested. I use Scottrade and they hvae this feature called SmartText where it shows charts and reads them for you suggesting either overbought, oversold, bullish bearish, how the trend is...sometimes its accurate. They give samples on Yahoo! finance when you enter a ticker its on the right hand side of page. Its a cool feature but a bit of a handicap if I cant understand for myself. Thanks for the info Im ready to learn.:D

Anyone know what site is best to get On-balance volume (OBV) and Relative Strength Indicators (RSI) in real time? Im using Scottrader and their program, but I dont think im able to do these, only moving average and volume.

Open up with Ameritrade account if you want nice charting tools. They have a great charting program called strategy desk. Scottrade is not the most friendly for charting and quotes. Rates are good though for OTC stuff.

BETTER YET if you don't want to open another brokerage account use http://quotetracker.com very freaking good charting software and you can use the real time quotes from Scottrade or whatever broker you have. Here is an example
