Thor: Ragnarok - Official Discussion Thread

Yo Jeff Goldblum :roflmao3:

Man when they were playing the Willy Wonka fucking song on the ride and then they were like you will meet the master in 5 seconds then shit went read and Thor started screaming
then he was just in the seat in front of everybody
oh man

Master was like... I don't like that word.. come on..

she was like ok prisoners with jobs

i was crying

Dr. Strange did his thing. Anyone else notice BiBeast, Beta Ray Bill and the others on the monument? I don't think Hela is dead. Surtur looked great, no reason to make Galactus a cloud again when he comes back.

Surtur looked fucking dope!!!
I like how he was dead then he appeared right where he needed to be
he was talking mad shit to an empty world hahaha

I am your reckoning!!!

while everybody was on the ship like...yea we know

Dude, Hella looked um hella fuckable. I guess it's the costume?

Let's do "get help"

Warriors three got that work, but Hogun was OG. Only thing I didn't like was Skurge. He should have been epic. Also, Meik was better in the comics.

Agreed but I also think they're trying to start to introduce some characters which is a huge step
They limited Thor in the 1st 2
they rule 9 realms and he spent majority of his time on fucking earth chasing 1 woman then she found her way to asgard.. they fucked thor all the way up
Now he's basically galaxy hopping, like he should and expanding his universe. So since Miek and Skurge aren't dead maybe they'll play way bigger roles in the next one along with Valkyrie
also maybe she'll be in Infinity wars now as well..

Movie was weird and a big let down. It was trying to out Deadpool, Deadpool or something with all the comedy. It felt odd. I thought I was watching Family Guy or something. Thing with intense comedy is that is masks the lack of a good story...

Odin* except for the scene in Asgard as Loki, was lame.

One of the best parts of the movie for me was Dr. Strange. He "HANDLED" them. I wish that scene was longer and he showed up again.

The scenery and props looked fake. I didn't like how phony things were.

I wish it had the tone of Game of Thrones or even damn Harry Potter.

To me Dark World was a better Thor movie.
Dark World was better. Such an odd response.

Thor ain't winter soldier though man.
It can't be winter soldier
there is no spy game element to Thor or his world. It's not that
It's warrior shit. Fight for right or wrong. Power or no power. Blood lust or no blood lust. It isn't complicated and layered like winter soldier. We gotta stop saying things need to be like winter soldier if the characters aren't in the same position as they were in winter soldier

Thor and his sister didn't know each other and her introduction is I want to rule everything and I broke your hammer.
There was no more layers after that
She wasn't a long lost sister whom he once loved and was lied to by his father saying she was dead only to find out she's not and then she came back on the evil side of things so he's torn as to what he can do to his sister forced to decide whether to see the good in her and believe its still in there or accept who she's become and try and stop her though it may hurt him to do it because of their loving history.
see how it can't be winter soldier imo?

The comedy was just normal things. It wasn't slapstick stooges stuff. Most of it were just making things not perfect and flawless.
Sometimes when you jump out of the plane trying to turn into the HULK you don't time it PERFECTLY and land on your feet and attack the dog like a perfect hero

Not everybody likes to wear their pants as tight as Tony Starks

Like. Even Tony gave him the code name Point Break and if you've seen the movie then that really says everything about him.

He is a warrior who is forthcoming and sometimes that forthcoming leads to awkward conversations and funny interactions.
When he was telling Tessa it was great that there was an all women's elite fighting force and trying to be P.C. that's just Thor man and it was hilarious and it wasn't on some I'm trying to be a comedian...
when he was telling ol boy in the beginning wait until he spun back around.. that was just him being the asshole that he is lol

Every movie ain't dark and you're talking to the guy that loved the dark angle of superman and the killer camo batman
We'll just agree to disagree

Dude. It was Dark and had better acting, story and character development.
The scene where Figga died and Loki is in the prison.. then Thor visits him and tells him "no need to hide who you are"..
That scene alone had more depth than the entire film "Ragnorak".
Loki had nothing to do in this movie. He was lame and his hair looked dumb.

Skourge was an interesting portrayal though.

The part when he was like on any other planet I would be millions of years old , on this planet...
He just started blinking lmao

I agree with you bro. They should have tried to make a good movie instead of making Deadpool 2 before Deadpool 2 came out.

That's not what they did though. A huge problem is always trying to compare movies to one another instead of just looking at the movie for what it is.
They didn't change Thor's character. In fact he was the most true to who he is in this one than the other movies.

It was a story that somehow revolved around Natalie Portman.
it was not better than this movie.
It was a Fabio drama
The fact that Thor ain't even discover he could use Thunder until now speaks volumes to how underdeveloped he has been in 2 feature films
It'd be like Tony finding out Jarvis was A.I. in Ironman 3

Already pulled a profit.

Ok just got back. I'm a huge Thor fan but this movie was just meh to me. Thor without his hammer just isn't as compelling to me. Seeing Thor use his hammer when dealing with Surtur was cool but it was missed with the rest of the movie.

Hela was a pretty good bad guy. She was powerful enough that you weren't sure how they'd handle her and to be honest they didn't.

Banner jumping out the shit to change and hitting the ground was fucking hilarious.

Finally the real question for BGOL:

Who won the fight between Hulk and Thor?

I liked how they showed his hammer doesn't need to be a hammer when it was the umbrella a ton of people didn't know that.
I can agree the hammer is tied to his identity but as you can see they wanted to give him a complete makeover so I get it but also understand. New beginnings no long locked dude just trying to settle down with an earth girl type shit.

Hela was dope. Didn't kill her. in fact I think that it's setup so that she'll be in infinity wars because _____ actually _____ her.

Banner was so dope. underrated performance as being disorientated. He's literally like "Tf?" for most of the 2nd act as Banner.

Banner"I got this."
Val:"What?"
Banner"You'll see"

*splat

hell hound felt sorry for him too haha. sniffed him like damn aww poor thing.

One more funny thing. The look on Grandmaster's face the first time Thor hit the Hulk back and knocked him through half the fence in the arena.

He was like WTF?!?!?!?!

Saw it last night. I went to the 10pm showing an I was praying for that damn movie to end. That shit was like 30mins TOO LONG

If it's the end of their world then it should be epic .imagine if it was Lord of the rings with their large scale battles

But it's not lord of the rings it's Asgard and its a goddess they have no answer for they fought her as much as they could were no match and said we gotta blow up the entire shit.
It was literally unfair- how powerful she is in relation to them.
They did all of that, destroyed the planet and I bet she's still alive.

Banner talking about the planet is designed to stress him out and Thor is like you're good then he gets hit with green powder and the entire planet is basically chanting encouraging him to turn into the hulk

Thor's disguise..
"I can see your face"
"Not if I do this you can't..nvm"
