Thor: Ragnarok - Official Discussion Thread

saw it. i thought it was the best thor flick. idk where in the mcu i would rank it yet. i thought i get more in the post credits.black chick is bad ass. couple other surprises if you're familiar with the source of where some of the storyline is borrowed from.

I saw it last night and it's definitely the funniest Marvel movie to date but that's not what this movie needed. Should've been a darker movie. All the excess jokes just felt out of place & overdone. Mainstream viewers will enjoy this but fans will be disappointed

Saw it last night at the 7pm nerd special showing. Enjoyed it although it falls just outside my top 5 marvel movies. Great action comedy as others have said. If u liked guardians, you will like this. Has comedy moments in the same vein. Actually this was probably funnier. The director of the movie plays a giant rock guy and steals every scene that he's in. I laughed out loud several times which is rare for me.

Only 2 things I didn't like was Hella not being quite as ruthless of a villan as I wanted her to be and not enough teasing of Infinity War.

Overall I give it a solid 4 outta 5 Quaid belly faces.

The first movie was so fucking boring to me I almost didn't finish it. But now that I got my MoviePass coming in the mail I'm going to see that shit opening night
I saw it opening night as I said. Moviepass is the shit. I've seen four movies in the past week with this thing. All I got to say is that if you go see two movies a month then it more than pays for itself

By the way, the Thor movie was hilarious, and Tessa Thompson is fucking gorgeous and I'm typically Team DarkSkin Chicks

we're doing the same thing today driving down to columbus ohio to see it at one of the dine in theaters
Only bad thing I can say bout the dine-in theater is that those Barca-loungers......:smh:......suck the goddam life outta you....:smh:.....that and being in a dark theater........a full stomach....:smh:...like being shot with a tranquilizer dart set on hippo !!!!

Loved the 80's retro feel of this movie. Very stylistic, with a good story. Marvel keeps winning.

I'm not going to accept any Thor Slander
It was the perfect way to do the movie. The 1st 2 tried to make him Fabio and centered around love and shit. NO that's not what he's about or what the movies are about
Thor is care free. Thor is OK I'm trying to do this so let's do this. Thor is smart on Asgard but kinda dumb everywhere else simply cause he don't know about other planets customs and shit.
Right mixture of laughter and seriousness. Right mixture of OK let's FIGHT and let's let the story develop
Cork was fucking dope and perfect comic relief.
Tessa was dope
Loki was dope.
Banner was dope, both of them Hulk and himself. Man this shit had me rolling several times. Banner just being human and all petrified about everything going on. The fucking "It's my birthday" song on the ship
No complaints about Thor at all.

Disagree fully
Every Marvel character ain't dark and gritty and all of that. There's time and place. Thor is glam rock with an edge.
He's not a thinker. He's not someone who's going to be calculating or any of that shit. He's going to simply see a problem and try to fix it. The dark parts were his sister. She was very dark.
The rest is he's trying to get back and save the world it went great. None of the jokes were forced, it just finally allowed the characters to be "people" imo.
Instead of just serious all the time sometimes ppl say stuff that's funny. Sometimes Thor is a bull in a china shop. His entire interaction with Dr. Strange was wonderful and Strange couldn't be bothered with EITHER of them.

When Banner was like "he tried to kill me" and Thor told the story about the snake cause it clearly still haunted him and Loki was shackled up laughing like "yes I did do that huh?"

or when Loki found out Hulk was the champion, his reaction to it was fucking hilarious.

They did Thor right.

No love

Just Glam, action, good time out.

Panther will be gritty

I respectfully disagree with your rebuttal and this coming from someone who isn't a fan of Thor like that but is familiar with the character overall. Yeah he's not a thinker. He's a warrior and the Ragnarok story arc itself in itself is dark. Hella is dark but I still feel all the comedy took away from how dark she really could've been. The movie is definitely funny but I would've preferred this be along the lines of Winter Soldier than GOTG.

Thor movies usually suck. This movie propelled Thor into my top 5 marvel movies. The movie is ducking fantastic.

Thor ain't winter soldier though man.
It can't be winter soldier
there is no spy game element to Thor or his world. It's not that
It's warrior shit. Fight for right or wrong. Power or no power. Blood lust or no blood lust. It isn't complicated and layered like winter soldier. We gotta stop saying things need to be like winter soldier if the characters aren't in the same position as they were in winter soldier

Thor and his sister didn't know each other and her introduction is I want to rule everything and I broke your hammer.
There was no more layers after that
She wasn't a long lost sister whom he once loved and was lied to by his father saying she was dead only to find out she's not and then she came back on the evil side of things so he's torn as to what he can do to his sister forced to decide whether to see the good in her and believe its still in there or accept who she's become and try and stop her though it may hurt him to do it because of their loving history.
see how it can't be winter soldier imo?

The comedy was just normal things. It wasn't slapstick stooges stuff. Most of it were just making things not perfect and flawless.
Sometimes when you jump out of the plane trying to turn into the HULK you don't time it PERFECTLY and land on your feet and attack the dog like a perfect hero

Not everybody likes to wear their pants as tight as Tony Starks

Like. Even Tony gave him the code name Point Break and if you've seen the movie then that really says everything about him.

He is a warrior who is forthcoming and sometimes that forthcoming leads to awkward conversations and funny interactions.
When he was telling Tessa it was great that there was an all women's elite fighting force and trying to be P.C. that's just Thor man and it was hilarious and it wasn't on some I'm trying to be a comedian...
when he was telling ol boy in the beginning wait until he spun back around.. that was just him being the asshole that he is lol

Every movie ain't dark and you're talking to the guy that loved the dark angle of superman and the killer camo batman

MMMaaaaannnnn... this was the sssshhhhhiiiiizzzzzznnnnniiiitttttt!!! The last time I laughed this hard was with Girls Trip!!! The whole gladiator fight sequence was one of the funniest in movie history (in my opinion).. Loki was shook.... "I need to get off this planet".... "now someone knows how I felt"....

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Movie was weird and a big let down. It was trying to out Deadpool, Deadpool or something with all the comedy. It felt odd. I thought I was watching Family Guy or something. Thing with intense comedy is that is masks the lack of a good story...

Odin* except for the scene in Asgard as Loki, was lame.

One of the best parts of the movie for me was Dr. Strange. He "HANDLED" them. I wish that scene was longer and he showed up again.

The scenery and props looked fake. I didn't like how phony things were.

I wish it had the tone of Game of Thrones or even damn Harry Potter.

To me Dark World was a better Thor movie.

You must have been high. What drug is that? I need some. Either that or you are a simpleton. Which is it?

Or you just wasn't tripping off of him having PTSD from getting smashed by The Hulk in the 1st avengers movie so much so he was visibly shaken and actually enjoyed his brother getting smashed similar to him to the point of screaming out "YES THAT'S HOW IT FELT!!!"
