Thor: Ragnarok - Official Discussion Thread

Dr. Strange did his thing. Anyone else notice BiBeast, Beta Ray Bill and the others on the monument? I don't think Hela is dead. Surtur looked great, no reason to make Galactus a cloud again when he comes back.
Yeah, I saw beta-ray bill. I didn’t recognize/remember the others

Easily best of the Thor movies. I could actually see myself watching this one again. Valkyrie is freaking beautiful.

They showed Black Panther trailer, theater was totally quiet during the whole thing. Soon as it was over, these little white kids shouted "February!!!!!!!"
I raised my fist in the air when the trailer came on

Good movie, thought it would be corny. Wouldn't mind seeing again. Skipped the second one due to the first being aight. 4.5/5

watching this and couldn't put my finger on what the flick reminded of

then it hit me

I hear you man! I thought Thor Ragnarok was a great movie, and Flash Gordon was one of my favorite films as a kid.

Don't you think it's time for Hollywood to bring back Flash Gordon. I'm surprised they haven't done it already.

Talk about a forgotten character that is a part of comic strip folklore.

As a character Flash Gordon's popularity was second only to Superman and Tarzan.
I bet the millennial generation has never heard of Flash Gordon.

I hope some director or studio makes a movie about the character.

I saw it last night and it's definitely the funniest Marvel movie to date but that's not what this movie needed. Should've been a darker movie. All the excess jokes just felt out of place & overdone. Mainstream viewers will enjoy this but fans will be disappointed

That'd be a no go since muthafuckas just need da Lol's and sum'n to laugh at. But nevertheless, it was a scr8 movie.

Let some of these niggas tell it, if you don't like da love interest aspect of da movies, then you don't like girls.

Right. and Love interest is what's wrong in most of these movies if not done right.
Even Wonder Woman. because the love interest dynamic is almost always uneven. Where 1 person is always way more capable than their love interest and then said love interest is in peril and drives the story.

If Val was Thor's love interest in a movie it'd work just like how Hulk and Nat work.

And this time the hero despite all of his efforts did not defeat the villain himself. I like that. However I still would have love to have witnessed some sort of lord of the rings narrative. In Earths Mightiest Heroes some of the best episodes were of Asgard. Loved that show. They left that series unfinished with Surtur for this new trash they put out on the weekends.

Did anyone notice Loki when he walked by and glanced over at the tesseract. It left the door open for another Thor movie.

No, that was the leadup to Infinity War.

In the preview they showed at comicon you can see Loki kneeling and offering the tesseract to someone.

Also in the mid-credit scenes, it is so far assumed that its Thanos' ship that comes up in front of Thor's.

This third chapter focusing on The God of Thunder Thor is definitely the best and wittiest of the 3.
This time around he takes on Hela the Goddess of Death and has an incredible adventure on the planet Sakaar, where he runs into an old friend from work.

The entire cast does wonderful work here:Chris Hemsworth,Tom Hiddleston,Cate Blanchett,Idris Elba
Jeff Goldblum,Tessa Thompson,Karl Urban,Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins
Especially new comers Thompson and Blanchett.
I went in with the fear of the movie being overly tongue in cheek, but the humorous moments never become obnoxious in my opinion.

The 80's sci fi vibe coupled with synth music works in the film. There's also a connecting vibe in these MCU films that makes me feel im meeting up with old friends i havent seen in a few months.
Visually some of the scenes are stunning to look at like a painting coming to life.
I wished for some colorful side characters, and i definitely got that in a standout character named Korg
portrayed by Director Taika Waititi
The chemistry between Thor,Valkyrie and Hulk/Bruce is off the charts in several stand out scenes.
There are several great cameos i wont give away, some pop culture references and good dramatic turns.

Some of the action sequences were a bit choppy, there's a been there done that feel here and there and there were some seemingly epic moments on the horizon but i was dissapointed that they were very brief.

In the end Thor: Ragnarok is like the light and colorful handful of episodes in a TV series right before the mid season or season finale darkness prevails. But boy did i have fun.

Scale of 1-10 an 8

This movie was good. I was entertained, kids loved it, had to answer a question or two about some things (orgies, anus) like i did with Spider-Man (porn, marry kill fuck game)... but other than that another solid movie in the Marvel movie universe...

My only question is, does anyone remember the infinity wars trailer that leaked? I'm asking because i don't recall Thor having an eye patch or a missing eye when he crashed into the guardians of the galaxy ship, nor when they brought him inside the ship.

Good catch

They didn't have him lose an eye in any of the trailers for Ragnarok either. That was left out purposely for the audience's benefit. Because the Infinity Wars trailer hasn't officially been released yet... they can try to manipulate us and not show us everything. Now that Ragnarok has been released... the official Infinity Wars trailer will have him with the eye patch.

And another thing about this movie that you guys often complain about...the previews didn't give away ANYTHING.

Every time a movie come out bgol film critics bitch about the previews giving away the best parts of the movie, shit like that... this time they played everything close to the chest and it paid off...

Makes sense... looks like they're starting to hide things from the trailers so as to not give away too much in the trailers/previews...

Because had that mid credit preview not came out it would have led me to believe that Thor made it to earth safely, possibly went to Wakanda to get a new eye, then back to space to look for the infinity stones....

Good movie , watched it in 3d imax last week Sunday , first movie I have not fallen asleep in a while . Don’t bother with the YouTube trailers loads of misdirection in them .
Saw it last night and did fall asleep lol

Wasn’t horrible but felt forced with comedy and overall storyline.

I agree that Thor and Valkyrie would've made an interesting romance angle, but Hulk and Nat??

That doesn't work at all, imo. It came out of left field in Avengers Age of Ultron with not even one scene showing their budding romance.

To be honest, i thought Nat was just putting that seductive whammy on Hulk and didn't have real feelings for him. I thought she was just a means of control but i guess she really likes him :dunno:.

And that bullshit they say to calm Hulk down is dumb as hell. It works when men say it to him:puke: and even as a pre-recorded message :hmm:.

Movie itself was ok. I'm a big Thor comics fan so it annoys me to see him played as a joke. I think i like Dark World more than Ragnarok, but the first one is definitely the worst of the 3. The way they nerfed my boy Destroyer :smh:... this dude normally wrecks Thor and the hammer has no effect on him since he's a creation of Odin's.

But that's another topic lol

The most Kirby-influenced MARVEL film ever (so far).
My favorite MARVEL film after " CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER".
The humor totally worked way better than the two "GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY" films.
Cate Blanchett was AMAZING as one of my favorite THOR villain.
I've loved Hela since the late 60s.

It's not perfected but it works because she's not a damsel in distress
they haven't even explored it yet.
