Thor: Love and Thunder - Spoiler Alerts not necessary

This movie is almost too silly to watch. I started it and stopped about halfway through. Just not into it at all.

I'll finish it though just to see what happens, but this shit is just childish.

Its weird as hell, cause for comicbook readers, the Gorr storyline is the darkest storyline Thor ever went through, but someone at Marvel decided it would make a good kids movie.

The movie debuted on Disney+ on September 8th.

Watched it last night with one of my sons.

Not gonna get into to many detailsbut to simplify it….the film falls under the category of “Mindless Entertainment”.

They basically tried to follow the successful formula of “Thor:Ragnarok”. This is one of those times that just because it worked once, good chance it won’t work a second time…..it didn’t work with this film.

The subject matter was too dark for that formula to work, which is the main reason it’s not as good as it should have been.

Christian Bale was completely underused in the film. More should have been done with his character and less time with the relationship between Thor and Jane Foster.

Also, there is a section of the film that is done in Black and White with them in the Shadow Realm. I think the whole film should have been done this way.

Introducing Zeus starring Russell Crowe was a disappointment with him acting like a buffoon with a Eastern European accent.

And they did a big WTF with Omnipotence City. When Thor leaves, there are two Celestial’s seen at the window. One of the Celestial’s is Arishem who was in the Eternals. I was scratching my head on why they were there cuz in the comics from the 70s/80s when I read them, they were seen as above the Gods. Definitely opens up a big plothole with that scene.

The highlight of the film was the last 15 minutes introducing The Temple of Eternity.

The temple had a giant bust of Eternity and he looked exactly like he does in the comics. There is also six other busts in the temple and they were

Left Side

- The Celestial leader known as The One Above All
- A Watcher (unclear if it’s Uatu)
- The Living Tribunal

Right Side

- Death
- Eon
- Infinity

Marvel has stated that Phase 4/5 will be heavy in the celestial aspect of the MCU. Showing these in the film most likely means they all will make appearances in future projects.

Their appearances may fill in all the plot holes that are coming up since “WandaVision”. All the series and movies since WandaVision have made no sense and they don’t reference each other in any way.

I gave my theory on it recently in the Eternals thread. That theory is making a little more sense after seeing this flick.

I’m hoping we get some answers on what actually is going on in season 2 of “Loki”, the next Ant-Man and GOTG film.

We will wait and see….

Not sure if anybody caught the biggest plot hole in all the MCU projects.

But this movie had a cameo of Lady Sif.

The plot hole is Where The Fuck Has She Been?

The last time we saw her in a actual MCU project, was the after credit scene in “Thor: The Dark World” handing over the Reality Stone to The Collector.

Lady-Sif-Volstagg-Thor-The-Dark-World-Post-Credits.jpg

The next time we saw her was her two cameos in ABC’s “Agents of SHIELD”. Her last appearance on the series had her leaving to Asgard escorting Lorelei. Marvel has confirmed that the show does not connect to the MCU, so technically her appearance on the show is void….at this time.

a11.jpg

Lady Sif was no where to be seen in “Thor:Ragnarok”. She should have had a one on one fight with Hela.

Lady Sif was no where to be found in Avengers: Endgame. She definitely should have been included in the scene with all the female hero’s attacking Thanos army.

Lady Sif technically should have been promoted by Thor to lead New Asgard, she is more qualified than Valkyrie.

Her next appearance was in “Loki”, but that was mainly a Easter egg cuz it technically wasn’t her, it was the TVA using her image to Fuck with Loki.

loki-sif.gif

Then out of no where, she pops up and appears in this flick, with no explanation on where the Fuck she has been or WTF was she out there by herself fighting with no other Asgardians with her.

That right there has to be the obvious clue that there is more going on in Phase 4 than what we are seeing. There is no way in hell that Disney/Marvel would make a major mistake of putting her into this movie like this with no explanation.

I’m starting to suspect they are setting up for a big WTF that is going make everybody look at Phase 4 completely different from what we are seeing.

The best decision they made was to keep it under 2 hours.

It was dreadful in parts and overall a hodgepodge of...idk what.

When you need a narrator to explain the plot during the movie, you're in trouble.

When the play-within-the-movie is better than the movie, you're in trouble.

Kevin Feige let Taika Waititi have too much latitude for this one.

I know characters are never really dead in the MCU but it looks like they wasted several really good actors.

I only know Brett Goldstein from Ted Lasso but he is brilliant on there so as Hercules...well, we'll see.

All in all, this was a trainwreck of a movie that I'll be happy to forget.

Sooner or later ya gonna eventually agree that thanos was right and that this is how endgame should’ve ended

they killed thanos and mcu has went to shit ever since endgame

well us agent show was pretty good

Movie was awful. I did however like those screaming goats. Probably would have ate one. The last few movies have been too heavy on a female savior/hero. Dr Strange movie taken over by two females. Eternals. Dumb plot and same shit. Now this movie. Next up Wakanda Forever and Namor is an Aztec? Ok. Gorr didn’t kill anybody during the movie which is ridiculous. She Hulk is trash. Also too much LGBQT shit. Marvel is letting me down. I’m glad I didn’t pay for any of the last few movies or I’d be real upset. Lastly, no Beta Ray Bill but now Adam Warlock is showing up after the Infinity War. Good job assholes!

i was explaining this to my sister the other day. im like they fckd this story line up bad. this is one of thors most hardcore story arcs and they played the shit for laughs. scust!

I HOPE what you are saying is true. I truly do.

They’re letting you down? Brother, look at the box office receipts. This is what inclusion and integration looks like. Do you think they give a shit what one or two lousy viewers think? You’re disgruntled, decrepit ass wasn’t even a factor in the green lighting and marketing of the film.

You should continue telling the world how you feel about things you have no control over.

The Mouse is laughing all the way to the bank.

Are you going to see The Black Mermaid?

They sold you the perm for your hair. Sold you the Afro for your hair. They sold you the blonde highlights for hair. And now you’re now old with alopecia but you still have coins in your hand. So now they’re going to sell you wigs for your scalp. That’s what capitalism is: the destruction of your dignity at a cost only to come back and sell you your humanity at a cost.

Aside from the last line of the movie, when was it mentioned that Gorr's daughter is named Love?

The fact that this movie was known as Ragnarok part 2 before it even came out should get critics to set their expectations straight.

Thats because no one is going to see a dark Thor movie. The comedy model is what is selling tickets.

Uh, oh.
Now you've done it.
You've just "outed" yourself.
The fact that you're dissatisfied with the current direction of Disney/MCU and are calling them out on their bullshit now means:
- You're an incel.
- You can't get pussy.
- You're against diversity.
- You hate strong women.
- You're a Trump supporter.
- You're against representation.
- The MCU is no longer for you.
- You have a "White savior" complex.
- You can't handle seeing LGBTQ characters.
- You should quit complaining and just not watch these films or series.

Never mind you've just given a sound, logical, fair and honest assessment of your (and many, many people's feelings) on the disappointment with the current MCU... :dunno:

The fact that I've seen the movie twice and I still can't remember how that scene ends is a testament to how forgettable it was. I can't recall if Sif dies or it's just another throw away joke.

For the record, I loved Lady Sif in the first two Thor movies and I was glad she didn't get killed in Ragnarok. But she minus whale have been since they clearly don't have anything for her to do in this in-look phase 4 comedy Thor films.

That fool has about 3 months left on this planet and will have a whole thread made about him in another part of the forum while the children of today are projected to live for 400 years. And he’s worried about what? The Mouse doesn’t care what you think about his old shit. You’re only supposed to buy his new shit. Do you remember when Avatar came out and the fools out there bought a 3d tv for $9000? That’s what this is about.

I remember watching Pochatas as a child and feeling angry. I remember watching Avatar and feeling dumbfounded. White people don’t have an original bone in their body. It’s why they can’t write a second season of The Watchmen. It’s why we are getting Avatar 22. And it’s why we have MAGA.

Thats fine if they want to make a family friendly comedy, but Gorr is the wrong villain and the wrong storyline to use for this comedy.

And thats just one of the many problems with the film.

They crammed the Gorr storyline on top of the Mighty Thor storyline making that neighter character got enough development or time to shine.

I can go on but overall the movie just didnt match.

This is about selling little white girl dolls called Love. And in 20 years they’re going to be selling little LatinX dolls called Love.

You want a culture that advances a tv show on incest gives a shit about character development?

You did all that research but you do not know what a plot hole means.
Lady Sif isn't crucial to the plot.
Answer is scheduling conflicts? The actor appears when she can.

How about this “Plothole” in the below picture…..

eternals-celestial-tiamut.png

If you saw the Eternals and how that scene played out getting to that point…..

Don’t you think it’s odd that every project since “Endgame” not one character has made any mention to it?

Eternals takes place roughly about 6 months to a year after “Endgame”, along with all these other projects we saw…..

- WandaVision
- Falcon & Winter Soldier
- Loki
- Hawkeye
- Moon Knight
- Ms. Marvel
- Moon Knight
- She Hulk
- Shang-Chi
- Spider-Man No Way Home
- Doctor Strange Multitude of Madness

We saw no visible damage anywhere or anybody making any mention of a Celestial as big as Mt. Everest sticking out of the ground.

And then there is Wong and Dr. Strange. Both of those characters should have been aware of a event like that happening. Neither one of them made any mention of it.

No way in hell that was a “Plothole”.

Kevin Feige cancelled all the TV shows and Netflix shows to put everything under one continuity cuz the shows were throwing everything off causing plotholes.

All this shit is under one continuity supposedly. When they write these projects, all the writers have to be under one direction to keep things together.

Yes, there are minor, unimportant things that might get overlooked, but Lady Sif MIA for 10 years and a damn Celestial sticking out of the Earth…..no way that can be a plot hole.

Something bigger is going on in Phase 4 and 5, hopefully they reveal some clues here soon or Disney is gonna create a fucking mess with this shit.

She Hulk referenced the celestial, but the others you listed, didn't

That also isn't a plot hole. You do not know what a plot hole is man.

For the record, She Hulk mentioned Tiamut the sleeping Celestial.

Now you doing off the deep end. I do appreciate your research though it is thorough and you seem smart and organized.

Just because something isn't being shown at the current moment or shown to you, does not mean it is a plot hole.

  • Have you seen the Avengers celebrate their birthdays?
  • Have you seen them sleep?

No we haven't seen that but just because we have doesn't mean it is a plot hole.

All it means is the story tellers have decided not to show that story.

Lady Sif was in the background all the time. She wasn't the center of most stories so they chose not to show her.

The sleeping Celestial could have been discussed by everyone off camera.

How do you know there wasn't a major meeting and conference about it?

Because YOU want to see it on camera NOW doesn't mean that it is a plot hole or will not be discussed in the future.

Keep taika waititi from all super hero movies for now on. Anybody who thinks this movie was good or decent you are only lying to yourself.
