The movie debuted on Disney+ on September 8th.
Watched it last night with one of my sons.
Not gonna get into to many detailsbut to simplify it….the film falls under the category of “Mindless Entertainment”.
They basically tried to follow the successful formula of “Thor:Ragnarok”. This is one of those times that just because it worked once, good chance it won’t work a second time…..it didn’t work with this film.
The subject matter was too dark for that formula to work, which is the main reason it’s not as good as it should have been.
Christian Bale was completely underused in the film. More should have been done with his character and less time with the relationship between Thor and Jane Foster.
Also, there is a section of the film that is done in Black and White with them in the Shadow Realm. I think the whole film should have been done this way.
Introducing Zeus starring Russell Crowe was a disappointment with him acting like a buffoon with a Eastern European accent.
And they did a big WTF with Omnipotence City. When Thor leaves, there are two Celestial’s seen at the window. One of the Celestial’s is Arishem who was in the Eternals. I was scratching my head on why they were there cuz in the comics from the 70s/80s when I read them, they were seen as above the Gods. Definitely opens up a big plothole with that scene.
The highlight of the film was the last 15 minutes introducing The Temple of Eternity.
The temple had a giant bust of Eternity and he looked exactly like he does in the comics. There is also six other busts in the temple and they were

- The Living Tribunal
Right Side
- Death
- Eon
- Infinity
Marvel has stated that Phase 4/5 will be heavy in the celestial aspect of the MCU. Showing these in the film most likely means they all will make appearances in future projects.
Their appearances may fill in all the plot holes that are coming up since “WandaVision”. All the series and movies since WandaVision have made no sense and they don’t reference each other in any way.
I gave my theory on it recently in the Eternals thread. That theory is making a little more sense after seeing this flick.
Watched the movie for first time the other day with my kids. No need repeating what has been already said. It’s a slow burn movie, the first that the MCU has put out. I expect more like it in the future. Some of my pet peeves was trying to figure out who was who and the characters name. It...

I’m hoping we get some answers on what actually is going on in season 2 of “Loki”, the next Ant-Man and GOTG film.
We will wait and see….
