If you’re trying to rush Actress Sanaa Lathan down the aisle, don’t. She isn’t rushing herself. The Nappily Ever Afterstar opened up to Health recently and revealed that although she’s very happy being single, she isn’t opposed to the idea of getting married one day. “I always wanted—and I dream about having—a life partner, but I am completely happy, and I love my freedom,” Lathan candidly shared. “I do date, but I do not want anything less than something that’s amazing,” she said. “And if it’s not gonna be that, I’m just gonna keep being my free-spirit self. I was talking to a friend of mine who’s around my age, and there is a thing when people look at you, and they’re like, “So…” as if you’re failing because you’re not married. I have so much love in my life. And maybe I will have a life partner. But I don’t know.” As it relates to her outlook on life, the actress admitted that with–or without–a life partner, she will always choose herself over just being in a relationship to say she is in one. “I love about not being wrapped up in the fairy tale. It’s kind of [the message] you’ll see in Nappily Ever After—saying, ‘You know what? I’m whole already. I don’t need somebody to complete me.’ So if there is that person who is a partner out there, then bring it on. But I’m not gonna be with somebody for the sake of what it looks like.”

She’s had a great career. She’s 54 years old and still very attractive. Unfortunately, she had to make a significant sacrifice for her acting career: remaining single and not having children. It definitely cost her something—or perhaps she never wanted kids or a life partner in the first place. :dunno:

Kizzy in " Roots " just could not see herself with a man that bows to white power. Her dad had put in her we never give up on overcoming the devil.
She has had success in the white man's world. But there has got to be another side to this.

Plenty of successful actresses were able to get married and have kids. I don't know a woman that appears truly happy that has never been married or had kids at 54. Marriage and kids add so much depth to life. Even if successful, 50 year old single women are very lonely.
