well, yeah....that's the whole idea of job hunting, finding a position where you utilize your experience/qualifications, etc.....

some stuff i learned looking for a job at other companies

1. most background checks are either 5, 7, or 10 years back. Major companies are the one's who usually go 10 years while most do 7 years.

2. not filling out the EEOE questionaire is usually more damaging then filling it out.

3. a well written cover letter makes all of the difference in the world

4. knowing something about the company you are applying for helps as well too..

5. business/work related references outrump personal reference every time.

You are an entrepenuer and have large scale management experience.. most of these cats just have degrees with little experience. For many jobs degrees can get you in the door but experience gets you money.

$14 an hour aint shit for a lot of us who lost jobs. better off staying on unemployment for as long as possible. you talking bout right out of high school money.

10% of the country out of work, and you asking what is the problem?

What type of work you applied for?

I've been searching for several months and getting no replies but cold letters.

$14/hr is relevant to the area i stated (NE Ohio) cost of living is extremely low.

And i ask because we always say (i've said it too) it's the system that keeps us down but to the eyes of the people that interviewed me, i'm a:

30 something dark skinned black male
felony conviction(even though it's beyond 10 years ago)
i even lied about where i live

$14 is decent for NE Ohio. Why don't you guys become cable tech's. I never asked him his pay but with all the overtime he racks up, he makes about $50,000 a year for sure.

He's only been working there a year and just got a promotion. He says they hire any and everyone which I do believe after having a few tech's come to my house for shit.

I see where you coming from.

it just came off like cats aint trying to me. im out here hustling to get put back on but shit is slow out here. i can get a little bullshit gig but i was making north of 65 before and it aint coming, I gave up on that dream but right now less then 20 is taking a unemployment pay cut.

I aint never been one to make excuse saying its the system cause its the same system that got me paid. its how a person handle they biz. Right now my game is off cause back in the day i could have talked these CACs into anything. Im still looking but im looking to start my own shit up.

It's easier to find a job when you don't NEED a job....That is because your attitude is different...Finding a job is like finding a woman....If you search for one with an air of desperation, it's going to be much harder to land something.

i put in "some" of my experience, not inputting any of the business i own or anything like that.

i was talking to someone in a human resources dept and they told me that alot of places she's worked at treat not answering those question as a sign or being a minority.

That's interesting, especially since most HR professionals tend to be minorities/women.

These losers want handouts and they want to blame everyone but themselves for failing in life.

Mixed bag depending on the person.

I can use my brother (28) and sister (23) as examples.

My sister is moving down here next week and has already had two interviews, one of which is a management position.

She has very little experience but knows how to network, has a very good resume and has no hang ups about working anywhere to bring in a check.

My brother has been in/out of jobs for the past year and a half.

He is working at a dollar store right now part time because he doesn't want to work better jobs that pay more money.

Neither one of them have criminal back grounds, just a bunch of speeding tickets.

Go figure.

try that shit in a overcrowded ass city like atlanta and i would like to see your results

maybe people need to move where the jobs are with that being said maybe i should move to OHIO.....................

Zackly.

sure its easy when your out there job hunting when you dont actually need it, but its different when you are out there and you really need it.

Then act like you're employed when you're unemployed.
places I apply to always call for references so I cant lie. It has to do with a confidence factor, when you have a job you have more confidence because you have nothing to lose, and I dont care who you are but when you dont have a job and you really need one you can try to be as confident all you want but that oomph that you had when you were working is gone.

Its like what that dude said about girls, its much easier for me to get pussy from new females when I have a girlfriend than when i'm single.

Wait bruh, don't you have a felony conviction for violent shit(I know it was a bullshit conviction but still). Isn't violence a big no when hiring?

Also you forget one important thing, most people are just like trained circus animals. They know how to do a job but they suck at marketing themselves and have the charisma and interviewing skills of a zombie. Most people are average so most people will have a hard time finding a job.

I'm interested in the positions that you interveiwed for and did not get offered the job. I'm willing to bet you were very impressive during your interview for these positions based on your expertise the telecommunications feild.

yeah agg. assault., and i thought the same thing too, but like i posted earlier on here a lot of these places only go back so far, 5-7 years with a few of the bigger companies going back 10 plus.
