CNN contributor Scott Jennings got into a heated back-and-forth with Tiffany Cross on a panel discussion Wednesday night during which the pro-Trump commentator reminded the former MSNBC host that she was let go from her gig at the Comcast-owned cable network.
The tense debate took a personal turn during a segment on “CNN NewsNight” when Jennings, who recently signed a lucrative deal to stay at the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned outfit, brought up Cross’ abrupt exit from her former network.
“You got fired from your job. How relevant are you?” Jennings told Cross during the discussion.

The tense debate took a personal turn during a segment on “CNN NewsNight.”
In 2022, The Post reported that Cross was not brought back to 30 Rock after she ignored multiple warnings from management to refrain from making inflammatory comments about conservatives and supporters of President Trump.
The conversation began as a debate on Trump’s tariff policy and evolved into a broader conversation on US foreign policy.
Cross criticized what she characterized as a “colonizer’s attitude” surrounding Trump’s past suggestion that the United States purchase Greenland from Denmark — a proposal that was widely dismissed by both countries at the time.
“It’s a colonizer’s attitude to say, ‘I like it, I’m just gonna steal it,’” Cross said during the segment.
“You cannot just go and say, ‘I like it, it’s mine now.’ It doesn’t work that way.”
Jennings, clearly amused, interrupted. “Steal what?”

“Land, land,” Cross replied, continuing, “That is what they’re trying to do. And in this new world order –”
Jennings interrupted again with a laugh. “What?”
Cross doubled down: “Yeah, absolutely. When they’re looking at Greenland and say, ‘I like it, I want to take it for mine.’ That is a very colonizer attitude.”
Jennings countered, “I have never, ever said we’re going to go to Greenland and ‘colonize it or steal it.’ That’s crazy.”

Jennings took issue with Cross’ criticism of President Trump’s suggestion that the US acquire Greenland.
“I’m not even talking about you,” Cross fired back. “You’re not a member of government. So you’re irrelevant on that point. I’m talking about the president of the United States.”
That’s when Jennings responded with a stinging retort: “You got fired from your job. How relevant are you?”
Cross attempted to steer the conversation back to policy. “Scott, if you wanna engage in personal insults –”
“I don’t, but you do,” Jennings replied.

“What you lack in the legitimate point, you make up for it in personal insults,” Cross said.
“I don’t. You do,” Jennings repeated.
Despite the heated back-and-forth, Cross continued making her case, stating, “The point I am making is in this new world order, we are looking at countries — whether or not they’re an adversary or ally — it is being determined on what kind of deal we can get. And we cannot govern.”
“We cannot legislate that way. We are increasingly isolated on the world stage,” Cross added.
Jennings disagreed, saying simply, “No we’re not.”
In November 2022, MSNBC parted ways with Cross, opting not to renew her contract after nearly two years as host of “The Cross Connection.”

Her departure came after repeated internal concerns that her commentary didn’t align with the network’s editorial standards, according to multiple reports.
Cross had stirred controversy with provocative language and blunt criticism, not only of conservatives but also Democratic leadership.
In an interview with Charlamagne tha God shortly before her MSNBC exit, Cross referred to Florida as “the d–k of the country” and added, “It’s shaped like it, and the people there behave like it.”

After the acquittal of Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse, Cross expressed outrage: “This is what white supremacy looks like. Not just the killer, but the system that validated his behavior.”
Earlier this year, Cross blasted her old network for firing Joy Reid and urged black viewers to shun the channel.
She went on to accuse morning hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski of having “bent the knee” to Trump.
