on a dare i went job hunting just to see what the end results would be.

i applied at 28 locations in the past two weeks, went to 11 interviews and was offered jobs at 4 places, all paying more then $14 an hour in northeast ohio.

so what really is the problem????????

well, yeah....that's the whole idea of job hunting, finding a position where you utilize your experience/qualifications, etc.....





some stuff i learned looking for a job at other companies

1. most background checks are either 5, 7, or 10 years back. Major companies are the one's who usually go 10 years while most do 7 years.

2. not filling out the EEOE questionaire is usually more damaging then filling it out.

3. a well written cover letter makes all of the difference in the world

4. knowing something about the company you are applying for helps as well too..

5. business/work related references outrump personal reference every time.

it just came off like cats aint trying to me. im out here hustling to get put back on but shit is slow out here. i can get a little bullshit gig but i was making north of 65 before and it aint coming, I gave up on that dream but right now less then 20 is taking a unemployment pay cut.

I aint never been one to make excuse saying its the system cause its the same system that got me paid. its how a person handle they biz. Right now my game is off cause back in the day i could have talked these CACs into anything. Im still looking but im looking to start my own shit up.

Mixed bag depending on the person.

I can use my brother (28) and sister (23) as examples.

My sister is moving down here next week and has already had two interviews, one of which is a management position.

She has very little experience but knows how to network, has a very good resume and has no hang ups about working anywhere to bring in a check.

My brother has been in/out of jobs for the past year and a half.

He is working at a dollar store right now part time because he doesn't want to work better jobs that pay more money.

Neither one of them have criminal back grounds, just a bunch of speeding tickets.

Go figure.

places I apply to always call for references so I cant lie. It has to do with a confidence factor, when you have a job you have more confidence because you have nothing to lose, and I dont care who you are but when you dont have a job and you really need one you can try to be as confident all you want but that oomph that you had when you were working is gone.

yeah agg. assault., and i thought the same thing too, but like i posted earlier on here a lot of these places only go back so far, 5-7 years with a few of the bigger companies going back 10 plus.
