Man, I just had to go back to that part to see it. He called it. And I thought 50 cent's son's mother was able to brainwash her kid. This kid set off a fucking nuke AFTER seeing his monster mom attack his dad.

How fucked up is it if the kid is the person people want to see killed? That's some good writing IMHO. I haven't felt this way since children of the corn. The Strain is definitely a great series.

to be fair this is very close to the source material.

But they took the easy road making Zach this cartoonish...

they had a chance to give a great child actor (obviously someone besides THIS kid) a once in a lifetime career defining iconic role.

It wouldn't be THAT hard to have that kid be just continually conflicted with his allegiances to his father and mother

with the world crumbling him

every attachment he makes just dies

just constant roller coaster ride of emotions and heartache and blood

where the AUDIENCE sympathizes and understands his decisions even if they dont AGREE with them.

I remember there was a time people HATED Carl on Walking Dead.

There was a method to Joffrey's madness. There was also a direct line from his mother to explain why Joffrey was the way he was. Joffrey was still deserving of death, but he could be understood in a terrible way.

Carl was a brat, but I don't recall calling for his death. I think people hated Lori more than Carl.

Zach is just a piece of shit. There's no way to convince me that he had such a terrible life, even with a father who didn't pay the necessary attention to him, that would warrant setting off a nuke. There's no explaining Zach in a meaningful way.

They set Zach up. You could tell in the conversation. Nazi puppet showed Mom how to detonate the nuke in front of Zach. Zach did exactly what The Master wanted him to do. His Mom's death was the catalyst to tap into his darkness is what it seems.
