i still haven't figured out this "menu" situation with my wdtv..
cus I have a MediaMate Media player (i have this before i got my wdtv box)and it just hook it straight to my tv and play my movies. thats how i know the .ISO movies I have includes the menus cus i watch a movie every night.. but if i play those movies via wdtv box it doesnt let me access my movie menus. weird.
My cousin got one of these and they are HOT!! Especially for the price. WD HD Player $99, 500GB HD $149...downloading and watching vids in HD...PRICELESS.
Anyone that DOESNT have a PS3 or cant afford one should get one of these!!
If you got PS3 you need nothing else, dvd player, cd player, mp3 player, bluray player, and HD media file player all in one!!
Need help....using thumbgen...Do the movie files have to be the exact movie title name? Thanks..
Q: What is the functionality provided by the remote application?
A: The application allows you to browse and search your media collection and play selected movies, songs or photos on your WDTV. Additionally, the application allows you to stream SHOUTcast radio to your WDTV. You can stop, pause, play and see what's currently playing on your device and also adjust the volume.
Q: What are the requirements for using the application?
A: WD TV Live HD Media Player, connected to your home network and a UPnP enabled media server (e.g. Windows Media Player 11 or above, Twonky Media Server, Buffalo LinkStation, MediaTomb and many many others). Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UPnP_AV_MediaServers
Q: What is UPnP?
A: The term UPnP is derived from plug-and-play, a technology for dynamically attaching devices directly to a computer. he goals of UPnP are to allow devices to connect seamlessly and to simplify the implementation of networks in the home (data sharing, communications, and entertainment) and in corporate environments for simplified installation of computer components. Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Plug_and_Play
Q: Can I use iTunes to stream my content to WDTV?
A: Not directly, as iTunes does not support UPnP. You can, however, use a bridging software. Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UPnP_AV_MediaServers#Software
Q: Can I use play content stored on my locally attached hard drive (via USB)?
A: No. Currently it is not possible as the WDTV does not advertise the locally stored contents via UPnP, at least not using the stock firmware. A modified firmware can establish that though.
Q: Which types of video/audio file types are supported?
A: The remote control application does not add any constraints to the playable media formats. What it basically does is asks WDTV to play the content directly from the media server. So, in essence, what's playable are all the formats available to the WDTV, as long as your UPnP Media Server makes them available.
Q: Which typed of media servers are supported?
A: All UPnP media servers are supported, as long as they are following the standard. As there's a very large number of implementations out there, it's not really practical to certify the applications with all of them. We did test the applications with some of the popular ones. For a list of available media server, have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UPnP_AV_MediaServers#Software
Q: Do you support playlists?
A: We do, WDTV does not. The most update WDTV Stock firmware has a bug which prevents it from playing playlists of UPnP.
Q: Do you support anything other than iPhone?
A: Not currently.
Q: Which types of internet radio does the application support?
A: Currently only SHOUTcast.
Q: Do you support YouTube?
A: We will in an upcoming version. Version 1.0 supports only internet radio.
Q: Can I use the WDTV stock firmware?
A: Yes. We do suggest, however, that you upgrade to the latest one. The application was not tested with earlier version of the firmware.
Q: Can I use the modified WDTV firmware?
A: Yes. It was also tested with B-RAD's modified firmware.
same here. my dvd player gets less play than Greg oden
