Umars dreams are unreachable. It's going to cost 100k just to keep the lights on. Plus his rep has taken a huge hit. He's trying to save it by rushing to buy a school and that shit will be disastrous. The same niggas who said where is the school will celebrate the school failing. Umar is done.

It would be similar to me posing as a black Civil Rights Activist, calling MLK a fraud for stealing SCLC money. Than claiming as a preacher he is having wild sex parties. Now you cultivate these assets in the black community. They will talk about white discrimination all day but will be overly critical of prominent black leaders. They will falsely claim fraud or misrepresentation of their credentials.
Another tactic is trying to get to know you, after working with you they denounce you which was their plan all along. They use their encounter with you to bolster their propaganda.

What I mean is: credentials, degrees, work experience, donation info, all specifics regarding the school - all that should be transparent if he is sincere and really respects and cares about Black folks.

I think once people see something in motion that is working they would

Both Tariq and Umar are self centered and ultimately only care about their bottom line. The only thing that seperates them is their presentation styles.
These brothers take advantage of the weak minded and are not really doing ANYTHING to help the conditions of our people.
Boyce could have been much bigger if he had the guts to remove himself from the gossip and drama. He tends to think he needs to put himself in the mix, just to get more views, hits, likes etc. He should just focus on economic empowerment and financial advice.

Yes, Umar does need all those things. He owes that to the community - those he purports to serve.
Anytime I've seen serious GoFundMe's that were wanting donations for a serious project, there was complete transparency around them. As Umar's proposed school goes, of course people would want to know WHAT they are financing and WHO it is that people will be entrusting their kids with, exactly where the money is going, how things will be paid for, who he's working with, if there's a board of directors, etc.
Umar is not some GOD who is never to be questioned, analyzed or critiqued. He is merely a man - someone capable of having good motives and a pure heart just as he is also capable of being a wolf in sheep's clothing.
A man who is pure in his motives would be transparent out the gate and if he is sincerely working for the people, he would be prepared to answer detailed questions from the people about who he is and what exactly he is proposing. Matter of fact, that information should have long ago been publicly available so that folks wouldn't have to question him so much. Being transparent means that people can see exactly where your progress is in your journey and offer themselves and their skills and resources to help you reach your goal in the best way possible.
(Unless your motives are to con people and you don't want folks in your business)
Others who have devoted themselves to the work have done exactly that. Why not him too?
When someone starts getting defensive and attacking and trying to shut people down who ask logical questions relevant to the work they claim and the projects they're asking people's money for, that's a major red flag.
What Alex says makes sense to me too... IF Umar's being sincere and his intent really is to build up the community and make a school.
From my perspective that's a big IF.
This is not hate. This is love. Love for Black people. The fight for the liberation of our people from oppression is a thankless job. Many, many, many people have started independent Black schools for children. Those schools are thriving, and guess what? You don't see the founders of those schools plastered all across social media and YouTube. Their work is tangible, visible and speaks for itself. These folks are respected within their communities. They didn't create titles for themselves. They didn't seek attention. They organized together and did the work.
If we truly love our people and ourselves, we need to fully vet those who present themselves as leaders of Black people. If you are constantly hearing more about the proposed leader getting into public squabbles with other Black folks, calling other Black folks coons and playing victim more than you're seeing actual evidence of their work manifest itself...
...Then it's time to leave that person to their drama, gossip and bullshit and align with people who are about the work and not about the cult of personality.
... and that last part goes for not only Umar, but for Tariq, Boyce and any other hoteps and fake conscious people on YouTube who dedicate video after video to stoking the flames of this stupidity.

I like Tariq's work but his intentions are definitely self motivated. First he was a rapper, then a "pimp", then a "game advisor",then a social commentator,then a documentary producer,then a movie producer(that horror film),then a political pundit,then a gossip podcast guy(most of "izm" is gossip and reality show criticism). He seems to attach himself to everything hot but contradicts himself often. He says black people should "stay on code" but engages in drawn out public bickering with other brothers when they insult him. He claims to be a "player" and "pimp" but there are multiple photos of him taking a well known porn star on an international vacation and pictures of him in a Brazilian whore house.He also lies about his age and seems to really keep up with all of the latest Reality shows he claims to despise. He claims to love our people but he clowned Sotomoyer and Umar for their dark complexion. Everyone knows "crispy" is what people called dark skinned people and never was about them being ashy.I'm not looking at either of them too closely, but neither of those brothers even look excessively ashy.They are just dark skinned brothers. Once someone insults him, he clowns them for shit he really shouldn't have tolerated in the first place. If he knew Umar was a fraud and stealing from other Black people, why didn't he say it until Umar insulted him? There were times people called his show asking about Umar and he defended him. If Umar never insulted him, Tariq would likely still be defending him to this day.
I will say Umar did have a good point when he talked about the all white film crew. Numerous times Tariq advertised to brothers for work but always said he would pay them with "money in the brown paper bag". Obviously this means on discount and under the table all cash. I do wonder if he paid that all white film crew with all cash,under the table and on discount like he was offering to pay the brothers. There are numerous brothers that have very legit film credentials in LA. But like the white film crews, they would like to be paid their regular rate and above board for tax purposes and more credentials.
That said, I do like the Hidden Colors series and 1804 and will continue to support.I also liked his macklessons podcast. I just wish Tariq would turn that ego down and concentrate on the work.
He seems to always throw random gay references and jokes in too. He also seems to really be up to date on all of these reality shows that sistas watch too.All of this coupled with how emotional he is, definitely raises an eyebrow.
