Jesus white Christ. Man lol. 1st you can't compare a school to a home. Secondly a person that purchased a 700k isn't purchasing and expecting to maintain it with donations. Finally he's building a traditional residential school so speaking of educating 25 kids is a moot point. Please show me the examples of all these successful schools that people have done it with less. Hell they're closing charter schools that get state funding due to the high costs.
Why can't you? They both have four walls and a roof. The only difference is what usually takes place within those walls.
Donations will maintain the building and I guess the salaries of however many teachers he needs (but for 20-25 students, you would need what... 2 teachers?!), but blacks folks can't rely on donations currently in this climate. The mentality and generosity of people would have to change in order for that to happen. When the Real Housewives and other reality shows like that have a blurb at the end saying that they donate a potion of the show's proceeds to private education such as this, and they invite you to do the same, then we would have truly arrived, because obviously people would have started to actually care by then.
Besides, it's not about proving me wrong, as I just have ideas. It's about holding the presenter (Umar) accountable for taking money, not delivering on his promise, and providing different viewpoints on how it could have happened, if for nothing else, to show that he tried or is trying. He'd get WAY more money (or just continuous donations) if he had SOMETHING, and just needed to keep it open, versus having nothing and whining about it.
This is why we are saying that he needed all along to have been transparent. People are asking HOW is it going to be accomplished/paid for/maintained/sustained? How will salaries be paid to workers? How will the kids be fed, clothed? How will learning materials be acquired? Computers? What will be the curriculum? Do you have a planning committee, a board of directors? Who are they? What is the process? Who are you allied with?
As I said before, complete transparency is only right and just. If you are doing it for the people, then let the people in on your project, especially since you are asking for their money.
Be transparent about your progress. I cannot stress this enough. There is nothing wrong with not knowing everything or not having everything on point. Transparency let's people know where you are at on the journey so they can meet you there and help you make it the rest of the way - whether it be in the area of finance, tech, curriculum prep, grants, property, legal, whatever.
Transparency also shows you are above board and lays to rest any suspicions of you being a scammer.
If you are married and your wife claims to be faithful, yet she regularly comes in 2 hours late from work, always goes straight from her car to the shower, shields her phone from you when she sends and receives texts, goes into remote parts of the house and talks with her caller in hushed whispers, ALWAYS keeps her cell on her - in all likelihood she's cheating on you, true? Now that wife might have all the best excuses and delivers them with big sincere eyes with a tearful break in her voice: "I'm doing overtime baby, so we can have nice things!", "It ain't nobody on the phone but my cousin, she's going through some personal stuff with her man. I'm just trying to be there for her, baby!", "I'm just grimy from the day baby. I want to smell fresh for you!" All good sounding excuses, but when you put all the clues together, it equals out to her most likely having a dude on the side. The smart man who values himself will act on this accordingly.
So why are Black folks abandoning common sense when it comes to Umar? He's shown us over and over that he's evasive, hostile, narcissistic, has a persecution complex, belligerent, a liar and thin-skinned in spite of the degrees he brags about all the time.
It's because he spits that PREMIUM conscious GAME. He portrays himself as a martyred messiah, invents conspiracy theories, presents himself as the first, most requested, only, etc., brags about his personal accomplishments and labels his critics and those who question him as enemies, turncoats, agents and coons. All this around promising a school and requesting/demanding/threatening donations ("or else, why should I help you when you come to me about your child?"). Yet, he has repeatedly become hostile when asked transparency related questions. And because he speaks SO convincingly people ignore ALL the questionable stuff, make excuses for ALL of it and continue to revere and believe in him. This is insanity.
