Marvel boss Kevin Feige won't be involved with Star Wars series despite his new movie

Feige isn't planning a major push into Star Wars beyond the movie he's producing.
By Nick Romano
March 19, 2021 at 02:00 PM EDT

No, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is not planning a major push into the Star Wars space, even though he has his own movie in the works.

As previously reported, the architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is developing a new Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm. But the man himself tells EW in an interview for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier that his involvement with the galaxy far, far away will not extend to the multitude of TV shows now in the works for Disney+.

"No. That's all Kathy Kennedy," Feige said, referring to the president of Lucasfilm. "I'm involved in as much as I stay up until midnight L.A. time to watch new episodes of The Mandalorian when they drop."

Disney announced in September 2019 that Feige, a known Star Wars fan, will produce a new movie for the franchise with Kennedy. "With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together," Alan Horn, co-chairman and chief creative officer of the Walt Disney Studios, said at the time.

Since then, Star Wars has followed Marvel's lead in far expanding its cinematic universe across movies and TV. The Mandalorian will now soon be just one of many, with shows like Lando, Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the works.

Feige's duties at Marvel have him pretty busy these days. After the first season run of WandaVision on Disney+, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier debuted on the streaming platform. That is to be followed by Loki, What If...?, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and more.

AMC Reportedly Getting Advice From Kevin Feige About Expanding The Walking Dead
By Christian Bone 1 day ago

There’s no question that Marvel Studios has totally changed the movie and TV industry, with everyone wanting a piece of the MCU’s success by attempting to ape the franchise’s ever-growing shared universe concept – usually with mixed results. The latest one to try it is The Walking Dead, as while the post-apocalyptic drama will be wrapping up with its eleventh season next year, AMC has plans for multiple spinoffs and offshoots. And it seems that the network has spoken with the master for advice on how to expand the TWD universe effectively.

According to our sources – the same ones who told us Luke Skywalker would show up on The Mandalorian and Ben Affleck was returning for The Flash – AMC execs have reportedly talked with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and picked his brain about how to build up a successful universe.
This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard that the superstar producer has imparted words of wisdom to other franchises, of course, as it’s been revealed that he had some sort of background role on Sony’s Venom and he’s also attached to a Star Wars project, so expect him to be of help to Lucasfilm going forward. Warner Bros. probably wouldn’t mind getting a bit of advice from him about their DCEU, too, but it’s unlikely that Marvel would wish to share secrets with their number one rival.

As for TWD, AMC is moving ahead with those Andrew Lincoln movies, not to mention two confirmed TV follow-ups to season 11 – a spinoff for Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride and anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead. Countless more are in the works, too, but they just haven’t been officially announced yet. A Marvel-like crossover event is expected to be on its way as well and it’s easy to imagine that AMC asked Feige for tips on how to pull this one off in particular.

The Walking Dead season 10C airs its latest episode this Sunday evening on AMC.

Obi-Wan Kenobi series reveals main cast, set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith

Filming on the next Star Wars series will begin in April.

An impressive cast has been set for Obi-Wan Kenobi, the upcoming Star Wars TV series featuring Ewan McGregor as the titular Jedi master and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.
Directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed two episodes of The Mandalorian, the new series for Disney+ will star Moses Ingram (The Queen's Gambit), Joel Edgerton (Boy Erased), Bonnie Piesse (The Vow), Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (Homeland), O'Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Sung Kang (F9), Simone Kessell (Reckoning), and Uncut Gems director Benny Safdie.
The series, officially titled Obi-Wan Kenobi, is set 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, which featured Obi-Wan (McGregor) having to face his former padawan, Anakin Skywalker (Christensen), who became corrupted by the Dark Side. The film ended with the famous Jedi taking newborn twins Luke Skywalker and Lea Organa into hiding.
Sources tell EW that Ingram, who featured as Jolene opposite Anya Taylor-Joy's Beth in The Queen's Gambit, has a very important role in the series.

Edgerton and Piesse return to Star Wars after appearing in the prequel films as Owen and Beru Lars, who were tasked by Obi-Wan to look after young Luke on the planet Tatooine. This casting also suggests we might be meeting a young, 10-year-old Luke at some point in the series. (That rules out Sebastian Stan for the part.)
The cast announcement heralds the start of production this April. Filming was originally planned for a much earlier date, but McGregor confirmed in January of last year that the series was "pushed back a little bit" due to the scripts. "The scripts are excellent and they just want them to be better," he said at the time.
Chow, McGregor, Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, and writer Joby Harold will executive produce the series.

Christensen's return in the role of Darth Vader was announced during a massive Disney investors presentation, which also signaled a massive expansion to the Star Wars franchise. Obi-Wan Kenobi now joins The Mandalorian as just one of a multitude of Star Wars series, both live-action and animated.

Why did Darth Vader die so easily in Episode 6?
A lot of people seem to think that the reason is solely because Sidious’ lightning damaged his suit, but, while that’s true, it’s more complicated then that.

main-qimg-dccb7757ebda86ea32339a211d2554c8

You see, we know that Sidious’ lightning on it’s own wouldn’t kill Vader because he’s tanked it before.

main-qimg-1c732e95deeb785ce7fb73ba976229a7.webp

This dosage was far longer and more lethal then what he experienced in Return of the Jedi, and he was well and good after that.
He also tanked another huge lightning blast during his “battle” with Tarkin.

main-qimg-e794635abc8233d21c53c9b91906aa33

Notice how Vader chokes him and Tarkin admits that he hasn’t lost. He’s still going, even after that.

But the key difference here is that in those two scenarios, he’s still full on Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith consumed and fueled by pain, rage, and hatred. Vader survived countless things during his reign as a Sith Lord, and it was because he used the dark side to keep himself alive.

main-qimg-84b70311f10aea3f06034997a540d678

Just like Darth Maul used the dark side to keep himself alive after being cut in half, Vader used it to keep himself alive after being immolated.

main-qimg-0b477c3394e4c1e46f862f02dd5cc5a7

He was even able to use the dark side to keep his suit activated after was turned off.

main-qimg-6d2da9a1876864d98045f308b04e6a85

But when he saves Luke from the Emperor in Return of the Jedi, he isn’t Darth Vader, he’s Anakin Skywalker. He saved his son out of love, not hate. He did what Luke told him to do: he let go of his hate. He let go of the dark side.

main-qimg-2c0205e3d557e8ba2a66e99bf469d894

Darth Vader did technically die because the Emperor shocked him, but that’s because he let go of the dark side, which left him vulnerable to the lightning. Once he let go of the thing that was allowing him to stay alive, all of his injuries caught up to him. Without the dark side, Anakin was just a burned crisp of a man that was just shocked by powerful lightning, and so he died.

So they made another ray. I've noticed all of their new franchise heroes except for the mandalorian is female. This has to be an April fools joke. George Lucas shouldve never sold Lucas films to Disney.

You a InCell mofo?

Would rather all the lead Star Wars characters be White Boyz?

Not triggered, it just seems to be a common theme since Episode 7 was released of cats getting bitchy cuz Disney is putting Women in lead roles for the Star Wars franchise.

Myself, I would rather see less White Men in leading roles in the franchise. White boys have been dominate in the lead roles since 1977 when Episode 4 debuted.

Put more Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Arabs, Native Americans and Women in lead roles.

Star Wars is suppose to be in a multi-cultural world.

Having every lead character a White Male as a hero or Gillian is ridiculous and makes no sense.

I'm didn' t complain until now because I'm noticing a trend. Look at the new high republic project for example. Wether this leak is true or not I don't care because from the looks of it they are changing the time line of the old Republic era probably thousands of years back. It doesn't bother me most of it was boring anyway. I just hope they keep some things intact like the Jedi/mandalorian wars. About this leak it says this new character brie Larsen is playing will be more powerful than Darth vader or luke but won't be a Jedi. It sounds like Rey all over again. I dont like it because it shows a lack of creativity on Disney Lucas films part and they are just rehashing ideas. I don't want to see the same story again in a differnt skin. Give us something entirely new. The sequel trilogy is actually incohesive garbage btw and the only movie I feel is good is the force awakens.
