SNOWFALL FX discussion thread

Man! What can I say. Truly heartbreaking end to a great story. Franklin let his pride for money get the best of him. I get it. It’s hard to let it go once you’ve attained it at one point, but damn, his decent into madness was gradual and painful. All he had left in the end was the bottle in his hand.

When he told Leon that he didn’t have any chains on him and that he was free was a real thug tear moment. Got a little dusty. And for him to say that as they were about to take his crib.

Franklin finally seemed to accept his fate. He literally lost it all. Veronique did the right thing as much as I hate to say it. His mom and her both seen the path he was on and it wasn’t any turning back. He was truly lost in his own demise. She took the kid and got the fuck outta there.

Louie on the run was fitting because she was just as greedy, if not more, than Franklin. Jerome tried to get her out the game, but she had this chip on her shoulder to prove she could run with the big boys. She’s the honest reason Jerome is dead, not Franklin. Now, she has to run for the rest of her life. You ran full speed for the respect, now you gotta run away for your life. The game is the game.

Cissy lost her husband, son, brother and now her freedom. She did Franklin one last favor no matter how much we may not agree with it, she looked out for her son. It’s just sad that he couldn’t see that. He was free at that moment. All he had to do was sell the properties and take his family away from there. But, being that the greed had him by the balls, he didn’t see it that way.

At the end of the day, this was the most satisfying outcome for a show like this. We always get a death, jail or some bullshit outcome that doesn’t make a lick of sense. This put everyone where they belonged in line with their character and choices. It had to end this way.
I loved the deeper commentary on capitalism and what it does to people.

My only complaint with the finale is how they glossed over the aftermath once Congress found out about the CIA's (and the Reagan Administration) scheme to fund an illegal war Congress would not fund by dumping cocaine in the hoods. That was a HUGE scandal. I know Cissy yelled about it in court, but my gosh, that should have been touched on much more heavily. My only complaint. Everything else was flawlessly executed. They landed the plane quite well to end Snowfall.

From LSA, what are your thoughts?
I also like how they didn’t give us the “dead or in jail” ending for Franklin. I feel like that ending would’ve time-stamped Franklin’s life and he would’ve always been remembered as a king pin. It was realistic to watch him unravel due to his demons…. and he did it right in his own community. It allowed for everything to come full circle. And it’s even worse because there is literally nobody coming to save Franklin. The people that could’ve kept him sane are dead or in jail. Even Leon had the sense to leave and the best he can do for Franklin is put his ass in rehab… but he’s so far gone that he probably won’t be able to rebound fully. When people are “gone” like that, they’re pretty much gone.

Man! That’s some real shit, fam.

What I haven’t seen talked about with this finale when it comes to Franklin is just how much losing damn near everything when you are about to embark on this new life outside the game unleashed this monster.

Teddy deciding to take all his money sent Franklin down a path of no return. He thought he could go to his family for help, but they turned their backs on him. At that point he had two choices, flight or fight. Once he made the decision to fight, it was nothing that could’ve stopped him.

Franklin still had an out. He was such a smart dude that he could've sold his properties then, and rebuilt from there with his family and his freedom. Unfortunately for Franklin, he decided at that point that he couldn’t lose like that. The power he wielded was essentially taken from him in his mind. He couldn’t accept defeat.

Avi said it to him best in the beginning when he told Franklin that his intelligence would be his downfall. His smarts would be his curse. Franklin at that moment didn’t understand, and even in the end he still didn’t understand. As smart as he was, the thought of losing unleashed the monster. The money was just a placeholder for the real monster inside of Franklin.

Franklin always thought he could outsmart everyone in the room. The thought of losing crippled him. Now, he has to do everything in his power to win. His mother, his wife and his best friend all tried to tell him to cut his loses and move on. He had enough to start over but he was blinded by his ambition to win at all cost. To retrieve his power back.

What Avi told him came full circle. His curse was his intelligence.

Ending was ok. I dont think any great TV series can have an epic last show. Maybe a few. This one was somewhat boring. Last scene was fucked up seeing what happened to Franklin. I give it a 6.5 outta 10.

nah this is insane........why the fuck did V clean him out like that....twitter was saying he hit her.....the nigga had to let her know like whats up here.....he should of been smarter and pulled her away from all his businesses when he started to hunt teddy

I loved it… I see the parallels to the ending of The Wire when Michael became Omar and Dukie became Bubbles.
V became Cissy with a baby boy she was going to raise right and Franklin you guessed it became Alton.

The acting was superb and a great ending to a special series. Frank was the walking living dead.

This is what I came here to say. Franklin became Alton at the end. He's come full circle. Even has a son who will wonder wtf is wrong with his Dad in 18 years. The thing I always said to myself about the crack game back in the 90s': The crackheads were fiends but the DEALERS were also addicted. TO THE FAST MONEY. That's what happened here and Cissy knew that s----t last week. That boy got strung the f---k out. Ready to kill ANYBODY

I thought the finale was well thought out. Although I figured Saint would eventually eat his gun. It's Walter Mosley so the protagonists don't always die

I don't think Franklin will appear in the spinoff, sorta like Walter White from Breaking Bad didn't really appear in Better Call Saul storyline.

The storyline has to be separate and apart from Snowfall, otherwise it will be terrible. All the main players from Snowfall are done for so it's like beating a dead horse if they were to try to continue any of their storylines.

I could see them doing a back story with the Arkansas connection. Bringing back Angela Lewis and Amin Joseph for that. Maybe going back in time to when they met. How Unc developed his rep as an OG in the hood. How Louie became Louie (Rewatching the first season and she started out kinda batshit)

i believe i said during the episode when she got her mom involved, that she was gonna dip with his money.
her and her mom are professionals when it comes to that type of shit.

The issue with Veronique is kinda complicated.

She and her mother were damn sure not to be trusted but being pregnant her mind also had to change as she went into a maternal/survival mode once she realized that Franklin had gotten this bad when it came to the pursuit of the money.

She was a con artist and took his cash and his seed after he started to spiral out of control.

She was with him 10000%…until he put his hands on her…unlike most women she knew if a nigga will put your hands on you once he will do it again..that 800000 was to make sure her son was set. Franklin wasn’t smart enough…rule number 1 trust no bitch

That part! I don’t see how anybody can fault V for doing what she did. She seen what Franklin had become. There wasn’t any turning back for him. Plus, he told her he would burn it all down if he wanted because he built it, but he didn’t realize he was already doing that. She was with him until that point. When she told her mom that Franklin actually cared about his family when her mom was trying to get her up outta there, only for him to not hear out his wife and put hands on her while threatening her when things got worse. Her mom seen exactly what was going to happen and tried to warn her.

I feel you, but if you see it like that then you missed the overarching point. Franklin’s obsession to win at all cost was going to ruin his family. He was already doing that with his mom, Leon and now his wife. He was willing to hurt anyone in his way at this point. She was rude or die for him up until then. She took it all so that Franklin wouldn’t try to find them for one. And if you she leaves him with any of that money then more bad things would happen to others in his way. Him having no money at all only hurts him. His obsessive ambition was his downfall, not so much the money. The money only made his obsession worse.

smoked it up
People in the hood know when you got a couple thousand. you a crackhead and got endless money you Either going to get robbed and killed or people will be talking about it because you're gonna be partying with your crackhead friends

Realistically Teddy shouldn’t have left that warehouse alive and without transferring the money, some of that hot grease on his balls would've made him give in,Saint gave up to easy with the torture he didn’t even cut off one finger

You only feel bad for the downfall of great people. Franklin wasn't great or positive in any way....he just had a lot of money at one time then he lost it He fed poison to his community so him becoming the very thing he helped create is a really fitting end in many ways.

Watching snowfall was like watching the pablo escobar season of narcos. Just a morbid curiosity viewing of the rise and fall of a scumbag. :dunno:

Yes so money broke him. He became just like the fiends he was serving. Money was his crack and when taken away he was done. Everybody around him could see it. Leon wasn't beholden to money neither was sissy.
Should’ve let him get his money. There was only two ways this was gonna end…dead or turn into a depressed drunk.

Shit he was gonna die in that warehouse. He knew if he said anything he was dead.

Love the way it ended...mama told him to let it go but he wouldn't,,his chic knew where things was headed cause her moms told
her to cut her losses and bounce..and Franklin went out like some of these once big street hustler I done seen fall from grace...
But his moms tho   ....
