Man fuck that waiting bullshit, I brought mines from bestbuy got their warranty for 3 yrs and when my shit got the ring I took it right back to best buy they gave me a gift card for the amount of the elite and I went right to the back and picked up another one and brung it to the register. No problems and I will continue to do that if I get another red ring.

thats the way to go! i got mine from best buy. i had it since launch in 05, and it died a two months ago, took it back, got the new xbox premium wit the hdmi on the back. lol. and i picked up another 2 year warranty till 09..i hope it breaks so i can take it back and get a brand new one..ha ha

thats what i did at gamestop..

took mine back (twice) this time ended up with the hdmi port

now i'll wait for the new dvd drive cause this new one is loud as hell
