Red Ring Of Death Elite.

I got all four rings when i nudged it...had to be the ethernet cord.

4 rings i believe is the video cable unplugged or not secure.

the power cable fastens pretty well to the 360. i'm going with the video cable not being plugged in properly. which makes sense. the rrod is an overheating issue from the graphics chip is it not?

I have mines vertical and it seems to operate just fine.
YO Deautron do i have falcon? i looked in it and didnt see any copper wire..
Also is there a bootlegg way to stream movies to my elite? Im not paying for Microsoft media center and my computer wont let me download wmp 11 niether.

If it looks like the picture above with no copper wire and with the two inductors then you have a Falcon. Another Team I forgot to mention was Team CSON but all in all if you look in your console it overrides everything becuase team names fluctuate. So like I said if you have no pipe but two rings/inductors you're good man!

I just got that shit on my xbox elite (only had it for 2 weeks)
I turned it off and was about to do the temp towel trick..but when turned it on before i was going to wrap my first towel....BAM! The bitch works again...only thing i can see that caused the rings was having it plugged in to my pc to stream music and flicks and accidently nudging it...
Anybody else have their xbox come back to life after it died?

Your Elite is still going to die. My first 360 did the same thing. I got the RROD, then I turned it off for a hour, rebooted, and it worked again. Gradually, games started freezing up, then BAMM!!!! The RROD came on and didnt go away.

Zephyr, Falcon, Jasper ... Can you explain all these different chipsets?

Zephyr is the name giving to the first upgrade of the Xbox 360's motherboard, which started showing up in retail consoles July 2007, and sported an HDMI 1.2 port and an improved heatsink. The Falcon chipset will sport a smaller, 65nm CPU -- theoretically, this means cooler temperatures and less energy usage. These chips are expected to find their way into consoles by the end of this year. The rumored Jasper chipset isn't expected until August 2008 and will reportedly feature a smaller, 65nm GPU.

Except for checking for an HDMI port (included in all Zephyr and later chipsets), there is no easy way to tell which chipset you have.

Why not?

Because Microsoft isn't interested in telling you, that's why.
Okay, fine, but how do I tell if my Xbox 360 console has an HDMI port?

All Elite, Halo Edition, and Arcade models come equipped with HDMI port because they were manufactured starting after Zephyr was introduced. The Pro and Core models all have HDMI if they were produced after July 2007, and the best and only way to tell is by looking at the box (see the picture to the right).

What if I'm buying my Xbox 360 used and I can't check the box?

Then you can look at the console itself. An HDMI port should be found under the giant proprietary A/V. Use the picture below for reference.

Why isn't the Core or Arcade model backwards compatible?

A hard drive is required for backwards compatibility, both for holding the emulation software and to act as a storage space for original Xbox games to use (remember, the original Xbox had a hard drive). It's important to remember that if you buy an Arcade or Core SKU and want to be backwards compatible (or just store more than 256 MB), all you need to do is buy an HDD from Microsoft.

Bought it online..
So you saying once that ring starts its a wrap even if it recovers?

Yup! Mine started the same way. The rings would start and stop then finally one day...GONE! I have all 3 consoles. The PS3 is kicking some major ass right now for all the haters.

Should have got a wii. Fun games without the worry of your system dying or paying microsoft $50 a year to have white kids call you Ni**er online.

I'm not sure because my home network runs off vista and I have one XP: MCE computer and it can stream from any of them. You need to just upgrade my brotha and save yourself the drama to be honest.

Playing DivX and Xvid content on Xbox 360 – An easy guide!

Setting up your Xbox 360 console

Now that the media server is working and the TVersity software is working as it should, we are ready to move onto the Xbox 360 console side of things.

First off you will need to ensure that you don’t already have any other media servers linked to your console – if anything, it will most likely be your Windows Media Center based PC using Microsoft Media Extender software. Of course, you’ve found a much more practical and easier solution now, so you don’t need that anymore.

Start up your Xbox 360 and scroll to the settings area and then click on “Computers”. Disconnect any Windows based PC or Windows Media Center computer that is currently associated with your console. Now scroll to the media area and click on music and then click computer. The next step is going to ask you if you have installed Windows Media Extender software (www.xbox.com/pcsetup/) – you have TVersity now and that is acting on its behalf – so, just click “Yes, continue”.

Next up and as long as your Xbox 360 console is correctly connected to your home network and you followed all the previous steps correctly, you will see your new TVersity media server – something like “TVersity on PC”, select that. Now go back to the main media area and click on “Video” and you’ll have your list of movies that can be streamed directly from your media server PC.

Simply choose the movie you want to watch and press the green select button and you’re off and racing! Don’t be alarmed if the movie doesn’t start straight away – depending on the speed of your PC and quality of your network, it could take quite a few seconds before the movie begins. If it doesn’t begin at all and says unsupported format, your TVersity media server has more than likely stopped. This could happen for a number of reasons but from what we have seen so far, it happens when you try and play a movie with a codec that is unsupported by TVersity or if the network connection is too slow, it just drops out and gives you an error message.

If you are having issues, try restarting the PC and turning the Xbox 360 on and off - that might well fix your problem, as it did for us a couple of times.

what about the streamed flicks?

sorry didnt see your request earlier to stream flicks.

i recently upgraded a cheap pc at home to use to stream but i need something that worked better for both the 360 and the ps3.

my solution was twonkymedia.
http://www.bgol.us/board/showthread.php?t=222641&highlight=streaming

i posted it there with my review of the software as well as a serial included.

some say tversity works well. i tried it, i found it to be slow on scanning folders and it just didnt work as good as twonky did for me. give it a try.

it works on both my consoles just fine.

Does the stream dowload on the hard drive?

So im not able to save the streams on my hd? Then whats the point?

Why would you stream from your XBOX to your comp? The streaming is so that you can stream from your comp to your XBOX so you can play files on your comp on your TV. Now if you want to do the reverse bypass the whole networking stuff and cop a capture car for your comp and record the stuff from your xbox that way.

the fuck? first we went from lack of games to shutting down plants?

sony's shutting down plants + lack of sales = microsofts 1billion + in warranty bill a (off set by halo 3 of course)

personally the hate for sony is stronger than the hate for 360. i dont want sony to win or loose. just like i dont want microsoft to win or loose.. if either was allowed to run things unchallenged we would all loose.

freaky? is that you?

the standard console does last 5 years. while sony says they plan to stand 10 years. i think the 360 has a longer to it than 5. i give it a good 7 like the ps2. as long as they can keep updating their proccessor and adjusting their heat sink issues they can last a long time.

not to mention, since i'm on my third 360 since march of 2007.. i will probably wait a good two years before i invest in another xbox..

man all that plant shit happened before the ps3 even dropped, that was just xbox fallout, thats how bad the bomb was frpm apple/sony ipod/xbox combo was lethal....poisonous darts nigga real talk. Bill gates is a business animal, if he drops a new xbox, in 2000/early mid 2010....hell put sony out of business. plus hell make it upgradeable...hell just make it so much better than the ps3, that ps4, if it ever dropped, would be a japan only console. Fuck japan anyway, whay they doing for blacks or africa? NOT A DAMN THING! Bill gates gives money away to afrcans, oprah, and all types of black chariries, and doesnt publicize it.....

Good question :lol:I rarely use that feature. If i want to watch a movie I'll just put it on a USB stick and play the movie off that. It's good if your main PC is not in the same location as your Xbox.

So im not able to save the streams on my hd? Then whats the point?

the point is to stream it to view it. its still saved on your computer or external drive.

with the ps3 you can wirelessly copy it to your hard drive on the ps3. of course i would suggest upgrading the drive on the ps3 if you do that as you could fill it up quickly.

but i have 2 external drives connected to my computer. one has anime and tv shows. the other is full with movies and porn. while the computer is happily churning away torrent downloads.

only every once in a while do i need to convert the media i downloaded to make it compatible with both consoles.

No it's not. The only you will be able to view the material is to stream it from your computer.
