Since we're now a pay only board with a pretty active membership, I was thinking about what just took place on my Motorcycle board.

The board owner and Admin is pretty much like HNIC - he's a techie who only checks in from time to time. He leaves most of the daily work to the members and mods. But after 2 years of complaints about attacks we had from another motorcycle board (Consider it our Tranny attacks) and about the MODs, he clearly recognized that MODs cannot do all the work and some of the MODs frankly, sucked at their jobs.

They weren't always on the job while playing favorites with some members - while attacking others with bans, locking threads they felt they didn't like, deleting threads, and even a perma-ban for 5 members, 3 of which didn't have shit to with a situation that took place and for which many of us VOCALLY OBJECTED. (all this sound familiar )

So on Monday he announced a new structure and a new feature. Member controlled deletion options and a MOD annual review!

(1) Members of the board can now vote on a thread via a checkmark or X ... if a certain number of X's are reached in the first 24hours of a post, BANG, the post is automatically deleted.

He didn't say what the magic number is - but did say it's basically 25% of whatever 5% of his most active posters select. (So, if there's about 2000 members, but 100 active users on the board per day - 25 "no" votes and the thread is gone.) Which I think is pretty good idea. Lurkers and the stupid bastard on here who gives EVERYTHING One-Star should not really have any bearing in the polling process.

(2) The MOD annual review and elections are pretty simple. He selects a group of people who he thinks would be MOD worthy (and takes requests from the members). There's a poll - top Vote earners get the position.

MODs with too many complaints get the boot and can be replaced at any time.

So, simple enough questions:

- Should MEMBERS of the board (Non-15 Day at least 1,000 Post) be allowed to vote once per year on who the MODS should be for the upcoming year, and which MODS should have their MOD privileges revoked.

- Should MEMBERS of the board (Non-15 Day at least 1,000 Post) be allowed to vote on which threads can be "Member" deleted. (i.e. Include a member deleted option with a limit of "X" number of votes. If the "X" number is reached within the first 24 hours of the post being active - off it goes. DELETED.

Yes. But BGOL is run like a secret society.. So that will never happen.

Re: - Poll: Should BGOL Members Have More Control Over MOD Selection & Thread Deletio

 I'm writing something down at my house, and I guarantee that this thread will take this path. Be back in a few.

Give it a fuckin rest. It's a fuckin porn board.

Re: - Poll: Should BGOL Members Have More Control Over MOD Selection & Thread Deletio

Great idea but I don't think it'll happen

Like Blunt ... Just like Blunt ... You're quickly moving up the ranks as the most annoying and worthless BGOL member list.

No, I would say Blunt is even more worthy because on some rare occasions he actually provides knowledge and insight.

Maybe you need a little break...

Most people who like something make suggestion to improve it.

If you're indifferent, that's totally your right too.

But don't try to knock people who come up with improvement suggestions.

^^^ :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

So true, but I'm not even going there.

I think you make some interesting points Heist, but I don't really have a problem with the mods or what someone posts (at least most of the time). It is what it is we've been told to deal with it... well at least that HNIC's continued silence on such subjects tells us. No big deal to me either way.

What I'd like to see board management seriously consider, is the removing the ability for a thread starter to delete their thread! This has been brought up time and time again without being addressed.

Lexx has been the only mod(that I know of) to step up and discuss it. He felt that it's not really a concern because people delete their threads all the time for legitimate reasons (i.e reposts). I agree, but I certainly don't think it's all the time. Most people don't care if the same topic has been posted 10 times over on the first page.. they're not deleting their thread. Doesn't bother me, but the bigger problem, are those members that flood the board with bullshit because they know that if the kitchen gets hot, they've got an easy "out"

Every time someone starts to get roasted, they delete the thread. This is BGOL... it's treacherous, as it should be. That's what makes it what it is. Why is the board watered down with this safety net that allows certain posters to perpetuate their fuckery?

No board I'm part of, allows this. If you want a thread deleted... guess what? You've got to have a mod do it. Don't you think members would start thinking twice about posting something if they knew that a mod would have to review the thread and determine if it goes or stays? :dunno::lol:

I just think the board isn't as entertaining anymore, because the really good threads are gone before shit really gets poppin'

Shut the fuck up faggot.

Is shit on this board that real where you gotta whine about mods deleting threads? Why is this so important to you? You gettin' paid off this board? If shit's that bad, just ask for a refund on your donation and call it a day.

Re: - Poll: Should BGOL Members Have More Control Over MOD Selection & Thread Deletio

I'm not into the faggoty, estrogen-moist soap operas that go on here but, the chain of command needs structure. So, this is a great idea with one modification: Mods should be voted into position every 3mos. instead of every year. If a particular mod isn't liked, members don't have to wait a whole year to get his/her ass the fuck outta there.

this thread is like setting up a cardboard ballot box at a major intersection somewhere in Havana Cuba talking about "should we have presidential elections? vote here!"

Maybe a picture of HNIC and a sign that says, Vote Red / Vote Blue but both pictures are of him.

Re: - Poll: Should BGOL Members Have More Control Over MOD Selection & Thread Deletio

Mods really aren't the problem here, there are a lot of bitch ass members. Eliminate some of the humanoid trash and won't be that many problems. 15 day members and deleting your own thread is some bullshit also.

Re: - Poll: Should BGOL Members Have More Control Over MOD Selection & Thread Deletio

Ten has banned me twice for posting music to the main when I only posted a link to the music forum and there are other posts with music on the main and nothing is said.

I don' know what his proble is. He sent me a hate e-mail without ever tellingme what thread he was referring to (see below)

[12-07-2009, 04:06 PM

YOU KNOW DAMN WELL YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO POST MOVIES IN THE MAIN FORUM. IM TIRED OF WARNING YOU.]

I asked him what he was talking about and he never said. He should have his Mod prividges revoked. He is as bad as a bored cop pulling you over for going through a green light HE said was red. I was banned twice. No appeal. No "tranny posting" as some folks think (I respect the board too much to do that). Short of that, what legit reason is there to ban me?

None. But he is being a bitch about it and since nobody can stop him he goes unchecked. Banned for posting music on the main? That is weak.
