The real problem is there is a market for something that is marked up so highly. I have 2k, but there is nothing that going to make me pay that price when the original price is less than 600. If people stop buying over priced systems to impress people they don't know, fewer people would waste time trying to resale them.
Even if you had to wait 6 months to a year, It would be better then paying 2k for a system with no new or few new games. It seems like these companies don't even try to launch original top tier games at launch anymore.
Sony and Microsoft likely made as many systems as they did in 2013, but it's a different world.
Think of it this way. The toilet paper people made toilet paper like they normally do, but one day everyone wanted 80 rolls at one time instead of the typical 8 pack every other month.
Could some of it be because of bots? Yeah, but in reality, it's probably because more people are sitting at home with nothing to do and want it now, instead of waiting a few months or years like they normally do.

So word on the street late last night, some Target stores had leftover PS5s from launch and were going to allow people to walk in and buy them this morning.
According to that stock website and the MyStore app, my store had 24 of them bitches. I wake up at 6, they still there, all 24, I'm confident. I shower and jet over there. About 20 or so people in line, slim chance, but I could live with it.
Get in line, check my phone around 7 o' clock, the app says there's only 7 in there now, the stock website says none.
So I dipped and took another L.
And for my troubles, I got pulled over by a CAC cop who gave me a petty ass speeding ticket on the way home.
