A Texan student who single-handedly diverted a transatlantic jet after downing a litre of Bacardi and attacking British Airways staff and passengers has been jailed for six months.

Jeffrey ‘Tanner’ Libby, 21, had just been dumped by text and started drinking heavily when the flight back to Dallas hit turbulence shortly after leaving London Heathrow on December 17 last year.

Libby, a Texas Christian University student, spat at people, assaulted a BA air hostess and bit the hand of a passenger who tried to restrain him on the packed flight.

As the fracas ensued the pilot was forced to turn back to London and the Boeing 777 jettisoned 20 tonnes of fuel costing the airline hundreds of thousands of pounds before landing.

Hundreds of innocent passengers were also delayed as they tried to get home to the US for Christmas.

The trouble began when Libby began to punch and kick the seat of a passenger in front of him, which he believed was being moved backwards into him.

Members of the aircrew then came to Libby to ask him to calm down and his drunken behaviour was caught on camera by shocked passengers.

Libby, from Dallas, Texas, admitted three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of drunkenness on an aircraft and was jailed for six months at Isleworth Crown Court.

Olu Phillips, prosecuting, told Isleworth Crown Court: ‘He was speaking increasingly loudly and swearing. He reached across the aisle to a female passenger, grabbing her by the arm and squeezing it.

‘She is the victim of the first assault. Members of the crew then came over to him'.

Passengers and air crew battle detain drunken Libby who grabbed, spat at and bit people on board

Libby began to spit and bite at crew members and passengers as they attempted to restrain him.

One passenger, Stephen Mumford, attempted to restrain Libby by holding the Texan’s head.

One of his fingers slid into Libby’s mouth and the journalism student bit him.

Libby, a student at Texas Christian University, then squeezed the arm of Samantha Jackson, a BA air hostess, as she attempted to restrain him with Mr Mumford.

The pilot made the decision to turn the plane back to London with eight hours of journey time to Dallas left.

The Boeing 777 was forced to jettison 20 tonnes of fuel costing the airline hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Michael Wolkind, QC, defending, said Libby had recently been dumped by his girlfriend of one year via text message.

He was flying home early from a trip to London to receive treatment for a skin condition.

Libby’s parents sat in the public gallery and sobbed loudly throughout the proceedings.

The BA pilot considered the behavior by Libby (pictured) so dangerous he had to turn his plane around as it crossed the Atlantic costing more than £100,000 in fuel

The son appeared via video link from Wormwood Scrubs where he has attended alcoholics anonymous.

Mr Wolkind said if given a suspended sentence Libby would attend a course at the ‘Texas Adult and Teen Challenge’.

But Judge Robin Johnson said Libby had to go to jail for six months.

He said: ‘Whether you were drunk when you boarded the plane or you became drunk doesn’t matter.

‘Nearly 200 passengers were severely inconvenienced the week before Christmas.

‘On top of that those who behave in a drunk fashion not only are they dangerous, they frighten a lot of people.

‘Against your personal mitigation it is my duty to state unequivocally that this behavior can not be tolerated.

‘You assaulted a woman for no reason at all.’

Libby, from Dallas, Texas, admitted three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of drunkenness on an aircraft.

A British Airways spokesman said the sort of behaviour the man exhibited would 'never be tolerated' and that customers should never 'suffer from any sort of abuse.'

Video shows white man pull gun on black kids, yell racial slurs

Video posted online Monday night shows a white man in South Florida pulling a pistol on a group of black kids and repeatedly calling them the N-word during a Martin Luther King Jr. Day protest against gun violence.

“Get the f–k out of here … f–king stupid n—ers!” the man shouts. “F–king dumb ass f–king n—ers!”

The incident happened Monday afternoon in Miami’s Brickell district, according to the Florida civil rights group Dream Defenders, which posted the footage on its Twitter page.

Police told the Miami New Times that the man seen in the video — identified as 51-year-old Mark Allen Bartlett — was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed firearm.

His outburst appeared to stem from a dispute that another resident was having with the aforementioned kids, who were reportedly taking part in the area’s annual “Wheels Up, Guns Down” protest — which involves bikers and bicyclists protesting against gun violence.

The resident, who is a white female, can be heard accusing the youths of blocking the roadway with their bikes.

“Please move,” the woman says. “I have kids I need to pick up!”

She, at one point, claims to get run over by them.

“You just ran over my foot with your tire!” the woman yells, prompting Bartlett to step in.

“Who did it?! Who did it?!” he asks before confronting one of the youngsters.

“Get the f–k out of here you f–king piece of s–t!” Bartlett tells him. “Stupid n—ers.”

According to Dream Defenders, one of the kids involved was 11-years-old.

Bartlett, who was being held Monday night on a $5,000 bond, can be seen smiling in his mugshot.

“He looks crazy,” said one Twitter user in response to Bartlett’s mugshot being tweeted out by Dream Defenders.

“Look how happy he is to be a racist,” another said.

A former landscaper has admitted to the grisly murders and dismemberment of eight men he met in Toronto's Gay Village district.

Bruce McArthur, 67, wearing a black sweater, stood up pleaded guilty to eight counts of first-degree murder in Toronto Superior Court of Justice on Tuesday.

Police last year found the remains of seven of the men in large planters at a property where McArthur had worked.

The remains of the eighth victim were found in a ravine behind the same property in midtown Toronto.

Prosecutor Michael Cantlon said the cases, ranging from 2010 to 2017, involved sexual assault or forcible confinement and said the bodies were hidden and dismembered. Several of the victims were apparently strangled.

McArthur faces an automatic life sentence for each of the murders and sentencing will begin on February 4.

Florida Man sent $200K in stolen cash to cam girl before killing family

grant-amato.jpg

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - Prior to gunning down his parents and brother in their Chuluota home, the man accused of killing them stole $200,000 from the victims to fund an online, pornographic relationship with a woman in Bulgaria, according to a Seminole County arrest warrant.

Grant Amato, 29, was arrested Monday morning and is accused of killing his parents, Chad Amato, 59, and Margaret Amato, 61, and his brother, Cody Amato, 31. They were found dead Friday in their home on Sultan Circle in Chuluota after a coworker reported Cody Amato hadn't shown up for work.

In the three months beforehand, deputies said Grant Amato stole $200,000 from his parents and brother and wired those funds to a woman in Bulgaria with whom he had been communicating since June on Cam Girls, an adult website.

Investigators spoke with the suspect's surviving brother, who said Grant Amato was speaking with an online call girl and sending her large amounts of money. The brother said the girl knew where the family lived, and that concerned Margaret Amato.

Grant Amato told investigators his parents gave him an ultimatum after they learned about the theft: Complete a 60-day internet and sex addiction program, or leave the family home. Grant Amato went Dec. 22 to a facility in Fort Lauderdale and checked out Jan. 4, according to the arrest warrant.

The suspect entered the treatment facility two days after Chad and Margaret Amato reported Grant Amato missing Dec. 20 and told Seminole County Sheriff's Office deputies their son was suffering from depression, according to the incident report. The couple told deputies Grant Amato had access to firearms and they were "100 percent convinced he will try to harm himself."

The missing persons report was closed with the Sheriff's Office after deputies spoke with Grant Amato and said their evaluation did not indicate he needed a psychiatric evaluation. He told deputies he just needed a break from his mother and did not intend to harm himself.

When he returned from the south Florida facility to his parents' home in Chuluota, they laid out ground rules and said if he broke any of the rules, he would have to immediately leave the home, Amato told investigators.

One of the guidelines Chad Amato set for his 29-year-old son included no communications with the Bulgarian woman. Grant Amato told investigators this was unfair because she was his girlfriend and he continued to talk to her online. Chad Amato learned about their continued relationship and confronted his son on the night of Jan. 24, telling the suspect to leave the house, according to the arrest report.

The family was found dead the next morning, all suffering from "execution style" wounds, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office crime scene analysts.

Investigators said Grant Amato took several steps to try and provide a cover-up story, including writing a fake note from his brother, Cody Amato, that told him to "just please come home."

Cody Amato's girlfriend told investigators that over the past few months, the family had problems with the suspect that included him stealing $60,000 from Cody Amato and his guns. The girlfriend said Grant Amato sold the firearms without his brother's permission.

Cody Amato had previously expressed concern that his brother would kill everyone, his girlfriend told investigators.

A previous arrest report shows Grant Amato was fired from his job at a hospital after he was accused of stealing prescription pills.

Grant Amato was detained for questioning Saturday but was released Sunday. He was arrested hours after his release around 1 a.m. Monday at a Lake Mary hotel.

Amato is charged with three counts of first-degree murder.

"This is not a slam dunk for the defense by any stretch,” attorney Steven Kramer said. “This is a case where it is going to depend on really good hard-nose detective work. … Any case like this, where all you have is forensic information and circumstantial evidence and where you don't have eyewitnesses, makes it more difficult to connect the dots."

Colorado man, unhappy about being a virgin, arrested over alleged threat to kill 'as many girls as I see'

A Colorado man who complained on social media about being a 27-year-old virgin was arrested last weekend in Utah after allegedly threatening to kill “as many girls as I see.”

Christopher Wayne Cleary was arrested at a McDonald’s restaurant in Provo on Saturday after several women reported his Facebook post to Denver police, the Denver Post reported. He was booked into the Utah County Jail on making threats of terrorism, a third-degree felony. No bail amount was listed on the jail’s website.

Cleary’s threats were especially concerning on the same weekend of national Women’s Marches, including one in Provo and another in nearby Salt Lake City, authorities told the Post. Cleary was tracked to Provo, where he was staying at an Airbnb rental after arriving the previous day, the Provo Daily Herald reported.

The message on Cleary’s Facebook post read: “All I wanted was a girlfriend, not 1000 … not a bunch of hoes … I’ve never had a girlfriend before and I’m still a virgin, this is why I’m planning on shooting up a public place soon and being the next mass shooter cause I’m ready to die and all the girls the turned me down is going to make it right by killing as many girls as I see.”

Following his arrest, Cleary told authorities he was upset when he posted on Facebook and had deleted the post after receiving threats from people, the Daily Herald reported. He also allegedly made suicidal comments.

“He talked about handcuffing himself to a tree in the middle of nowhere where no one could hear him scream as a means of killing himself,” the Post reported, citing a probable cause statement.

Cleary’s online threat follows a pattern of stalking behavior, the Post reported, citing a pair of convictions for stalking, one in January 2018 and another in September 2016. He is serving a three-year probation term in the most recent case, the newspaper reported.

A famous opera singer and his husband have been arrested on suspicion of raping a young singer who claims he was left bleeding from the rectum after blacking out at an after-show party with the pair in Texas, in 2010.

David Daniels, 52, and his conductor husband Scott Walters, 37, were arrested in Michigan, where they live, on Tuesday night.

They are being held in county jail and aware awaiting extradition to Houston where they are accused of raping Samuel Schultz after a performance in 2010.

Schultz came forward last August with his allegations, waiving his anonymity as the possible victim of a sex crime to describe how the couple allegedly preyed on him.

He reported his claims to the Houston Police Department at the same time.

In his complaint, Schultz, who was 23 at the time, described how he rarely drinks but accepted a drink from Daniels once they got back to the home the couple was staying in.

He said he 'blacked out' afterwards and came to the next day when he found himself in severe pain, alone in the house.

Samuel Schulz claims he was raped by the pair in 2010 when he was a 23-year-old singer

'I was sore and I didn't know why.

'I made my way to the bathroom to figure out why I hurt. I was bleeding from my rectum.

'I became numb. I was paralyzed with fear. What had happened?

'How could I escape? How would I get out? Where were my clothes?' ' he wrote.

Daniels and Walters were out at breakfast at the time but when they returned, he claims Daniels told him they had had unprotected sex.

''I remember David saying, “Don't worry about the BB thing, I'm totally negative.''

'BB in this case meant bareback, otherwise known as raping me without a condom,' Schultz wrote.

He said he decided to report the pair to police after eight years because he was emboldened by the #MeToo movement.

A Houston Police Department spokesman confirmed the pair's arrest on Wednesday but would not give further details.

They remain behind bars in Michigan. Their extradition may be delayed because of the severe weather conditions in Michigan.

9191036-6649803-image-a-74_1548874468581.jpg
Daniels and Walters got married in a 2014 ceremony that was officiated by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsburg

An attorney for the couple told DailyMail.com on Wednesday that they were innocent and that Schultz was merely trying to make a name for himself.

'David and Scott are innocent of any wrongdoing. Sam Schultz is not a victim.

Daniels, who is a professor at the University of Michigan, denies the charges. He has been sued in the past by a student for sexual harassment and was also investigated by police for allegedly soliciting sex on Grindr but no charges were brought in that case

'He never would have gotten this much attention from his singing, and he knows and resents that fact.

'He waited eight years to complain about adult, consensual sex to ride the MeToo movement to unearned celebrity. We will fight this,' Matt Hennessy said.

The pair were married in a 2014 ceremony that was officiated by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsburg.

Daniels has been accused in the past of soliciting men on Grindr and was reported to police in 2017 for allegedly asking a man to perform a sex act through the app.

No charges were ever brought.

He has also previously faced complaints from students at the University of Michigan, where he is a tenured professor including one who sued him in October.

Daniels filed a counter suit in October.

He took a paid leave of absence from his post last year after Schultz made his allegations public.

The University of Michigan said on Wednesday that it was aware of his arrest and would continue to 'closely monitor the situation.'

He is paid more than $191,000 a year by the university.

Matthew Toole, 32, pleaded 'no contest' to two charges in the rape of a three-month-old girl on Monday in Calhoun County, Michigan

A Michigan man accused of raping a three-month-old girl has pleaded no contest to two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Matthew Toole, 32, entered the pleas in Calhoun County court on Monday to avoid going to trial after the prosecution motioned to add a witness in his case.

Toole is one of four people allegedly involved in an child pornography ring who police say had each sexually assaulted their own child, as well as others.

In exchange for pleading no contest to the two charges, Toole will have nine other counts dismissed, including child abuse and production and possession of child pornography.

He could face a minimum of 25 years and maximum of life in prison for each charge when sentenced on March 11.

Toole and his girlfriend, 33-year-old Talia Furman, were arrested in August on multiple charges for raping the three-month-old girl and a three-year-old boy.

Authorities said they seized videos of the alleged assaults, which took place between October 2017 and May 2018 in Springfield and at a campground in Marcellus.

The counts against Toole involved oral sex and intercourse with the infant girl.

Furman's trial on 11 charges including criminal sexual misconduct and child abuse is slated to begin in March.

Toole (left) and his girlfriend Talia Furman, 33, (right), were arrested in August on multiple charges for raping the three-month-old girl and a three-year-old boy

The alleged assaults were revealed in an investigation by the Michigan State Police that began in May after authorities received a tip that Toole, Furman and a 19-year-old woman named Jayme LaPointe had recorded videos of themselves assaulting children.

During that investigation, police discovered conversations between the three suspects and 37-year-old David Bailey about a plot to kidnap a young child from a public place, then torture and sexually assault the child until their death, then dispose of the body.

They had allegedly talked about targeting county fairs in Branch, Calhoun and Jackson, parking lots of Walmart and Meijer stores without security cameras and a few parades.

The same investigation that uncovered the alleged assaults by Toole and Furman also revealed that the pair had hatched a plot with Jayme LaPointe, 19, (bottom left) and David Bailey, 37, (bottom right) to kidnap, rape, torture and murder a young child. Conspiracy charges filed against all four defendants in September 2018 are pending in Branch County

The four suspects were arrested before they were able to carry out the plot.

Conspiracy charges filed against each of them in September 2018 are pending in Branch County, according to the Detroit Free Press.

State Police Computer Crimes Unit Detective Sargent Gerald Yott, who led the case, said each member of the group had been abusing their own child as well as others.

'They committed acts on their own children and were making sexually abusive material,' Yott told The Battle Creek Enquirer.

'They were all sharing and exploiting their own children and other children.'

Yott described the foursome as 'one of the most heinous groups of monsters that we've dealt with'.

'These are the worst of the worst people,' he said. 'We like to think that this can't happen here, and it does. It happens here all the time.'

Two weeks before the group was charged in the kidnapping plot, LaPointe was charged with criminal sexual conduct after she confessed to police that she and her husband had filmed themselves performing sexual acts on a one-year-old girl, who the teen babysat.
