For the first time since her arrest, Ruby Franke and her attorney have broken their silence regarding her criminal charges. The popular YouTube celebrity who is charged with several counts of aggravated child abuse said through her attorney LaMar Winward on Saturday that she will plead guilty to the charges against her Monday at the Washington County 5th District Court in Utah.
Franke's business partner and mental health counselor Jodi Hildebrant also faces six counts of aggravated child abuse. Both women were arrested Aug. 30 after Franke's 12-year-old son, who had been staying at Hildebrandt's house, climbed out of a window, ran to a neighbor's home and told the neighbor that he had been abused.
Hildebrant has not yet entered a plea to the charges.
The Santa Clara-Ivins police in Utah said in a statement that the child "appeared to be emaciated and malnourished, with open wounds and duct tape around the extremities." Upon searching the home, police said they found Franke's 10-year-old daughter in the same condition. All of Franke's four minor children were placed into state care, according to police.
Search warrants obtained by ABC News allege Hildebrandt used cayenne pepper and honey to dress the children's wounds.

Both women have remained in custody since their arrest.
In his statement, Winward described Franke as a devoted mother committed to constant improvement. He said his client was a victim of "manipulation."
"Initially, Ms. Franke believed that Jodi Hildebrant had the insight to offer a path to continual improvement. Ms. Hildebrant took advantage of this quest and twisted it into something heinous.  Over an extended period, Ms. Hildebrant systematically isolated Ruby Franke from her extended family, older children, and her husband, Kevin Franke. This prolonged isolation resulted in Ms. Franke being subjected to a distorted sense of morality."

Ruby Franke's attorneys say that since her incarceration, she has been "actively engaged in an introspection that has allowed her to reset her moral compass and understand the full weight of her actions." She is "committed to taking responsibility for the part she played" in the events that led to her arrest, and she is already communicating with family members "to mend relationships and contribute positively to the healing journey of her family," according to the statement from her attorneys.
Franke and Hildebrandt were business partners in ConneXions, an organization that promises to "encourage healing and facilitate personal growth through impeccable honesty, rigorous personal responsibility and vulnerable humility," according to its website. Hildebrandt is listed as the founder while Franke is listed as "a certified mental fitness trainer." Franke also operated "8 Passengers," a now defunct YouTube channel that offered parenting advice.

Attorneys for Hildebrandt and Kevin Franke did not immediately respond to ABC News' requests for comment.
Kevin Franke filed a petition for divorce last month. In an interview with "Good Morning America" in September, an attorney for the husband said he had been separated from his wife for over a year and had no knowledge of the alleged abuse.

Dec. 16 (UPI) -- A Florida middle school teacher is being held on 45 charges of sexually abusing a minor and possessing child pornography, local authorities say.
James Goff, 56, was arrested Friday after he was accused of performing sexual acts with a child between May and November, according to the Hillsborough, Fla., County Sheriff's Office.
Goff, who has been a teacher at Greco Middle School in Temple Terrace, Fla., outside Tampa, for nearly a decade, faces 28 counts of promotion of a sexual performance by a child, eight counts of possession of child pornography and six counts of lewd and lascivious battery.
He was also charged with one count of computer services or devices to solicit certain illegal acts, one count of transmission of material harmful to a minor, and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
The victim is not believed to be one of Goff's students, and investigators said the alleged crimes were not committed on school property.
Authorities said they obtained a warrant to search Goff's home, where they allegedly found images and videos of child porn.
"Not only did this man take advantage of a vulnerable juvenile, he shattered the trust our community put in him," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "It's a betrayal that cuts deep, especially from someone in a position who is meant to nurture and protect."
In light of the charges, Hillsborough County School District suspended Goff, while administrators expressed shock over his arrest, saying the trusted educator had passed a criminal background check when he was hired in 2014.
Chronister vowed Goff would "pay the full price for his actions."

Pastor Allegedly Tried to Deep-Fry McDonald's Cook After He 'Disrespected' His Wife

A North Carolina pastor was arrested after allegedly attempting to deep fry a McDonald’s employee.

According to Business Insider, the incident occurred on Thursday at a McDonald’s restaurant at High Point, North Carolina where 44-year-old Latoya Gladney, a manager in training, claimed her employees were “disrespecting” her.

Gladney reportedly then called her husband Dwayne Waden, 56, for help.

The incident report reviewed by Business Insider alleges that when Waden arrived at the restaurant, he walked around the counter and placed his hands around the neck of an employee and attempted to push his head towards a deep fryer. A fight reportedly ensued between the two men, with Wade reportedly punching the victim in the face repeatedly until several employees were able to get him off the victim.

Per the report, the victim suffered “a large contusion” to his forehead and right eye plus scratches on his neck. The victim was checked out by emergency responders but he opted to be transported to a hospital by family members.

The news site also uncovered that Waden is a pastor at the Elevated Life International Ministries, per his Facebook page.

Footage of the incident was reviewed by police, who then charged Waden with assault, according to a separate arrest report. He was set on a $1000 bail bond and is set to report to court on Jan. 22.

Retiring House Republican McHenry calls for pay raises across Congress

says $174,000 isn't enough money for members of Congress: 'Most of us don't have wealth'

Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), who will retire from the House at the end of the year, called for pay raises for members of Congress and their staff while reflecting on his nearly two decades of service.

In an interview with The Dispatch published Wednesday, McHenry was asked about major institutional challenges that the House faces. He pointed to the upper limit on staff pay as a key problem.

He suggested that members should make more money in order to incentivize “credible people to run for office that want to serve the public and to be effective legislators.”

“Most of us live on the salary,” he added. “And then, you know, the very wealthy few end up dominating the news because of their personal stock trades, when most of us don’t have wealth.”

In 2021, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced senior staffers would be eligible for higher salaries, removing the salary cap preventing high-level staffers from making more than members — whose salaries have not changedsince 2009.

McHenry described this only as a first step and stressed the importance of remaining competitive with other branches of government, as well as other industries in the political sphere.

“We have to build out the committee power structure in a more significant way, which means expertise,” he told The Dispatch. “You need to have quality staff members that can be appropriately compensated, and we’ve made steps there, but I think we’ve got more work to do.”

“You especially need staff to be able to go toe-to-toe with the people they’re regulating or overseeing in the executive branch, which means you need to get the highest quality folks,” McHenry continued. “You can’t have the executive branch and the judicial branch on a higher pay scale than Congress. That is absurd, and really stupid for Congress to disadvantage ourselves in this game of checks and balances.”

The North Carolina Republican announced his retirement from Congress in December, but said he would serve out the remainder of his term.

McHenry, who chairs the House Financial Services Committee, was first elected to the House in 2004.

He gained more mainstream recognition after the historic ouster of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). McHenry served as Speaker pro temporefor a tumultuous three weeks while House Republicans struggled to find a new leader.

The United States Attorney for the District of Columbia
A Florida man who fled after being convicted in a Jan. 6 case, triggering a six-week manhunt, was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday, federal prosecutors said.
Christopher Worrell, 52, was arrested at his home in Naples on Sept. 28, a little more than six weeks after he cut off his ankle monitor four days before his sentencing date and disappeared, officials said.
A judge in Washington had convicted Worrell in May on charges connected with his assault on police during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Worrell was arrested "when he attempted to covertly return to his home," the FBI field office in Tampa said at the time of his arrest.
Worrell, who had gone to Washington with other members of the Proud Boys, sprayed an irritating pepper gel at Capitol Police officers, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said, as the pro-Trump mob attacked police that day.
After another Proud Boy member assaulted police defending a stairwell and the mob overwhelmed the police line, Worrell recorded himself on video saying, “Yeah! Taking the Capitol!” prosecutors said.
Worrell was convicted at a bench trial on six felony counts and a misdemeanor.
An attorney listed as representing Worrell did not immediately respond to a request for comment late Thursday.
Prosecutors wrote in a memorandum ahead of sentencing that when Worrell fled, "he apparently had no intention of ever turning himself in."
The FBI had staked out Worrell's residence, and it caught him when he tried to return, but he faked a drug overdose to try to fool officers and FBI agents who entered the home, prosecutors wrote.
He ended up staying in a hospital for five days before he was cleared by doctors, which prosecutors called a "delaying tactic."

Happy snaps from a 2017 holiday in the Pacific, recently shared on social media, show Sydney Nurse Suzanne Parrish posing with a venomous sea krait — a type of water snake that can kill up to 10 adults with a single bite – during a holiday in New Caledonia.

Ms Parrish and her partner spotted the “seemingly cute snake” on the shore.

Erik Spoelstra Ex-Wife Fires Back At Trolls ... After Historic $120 million Contract

Erik Spoelstra's ex-wife, Nikki, is clapping back at the haters for saying she "fumbled the bag" after the Miami Heat head coach signed a record-breaking eight-year, $120 million extension ... calling the commentary as shallow as a kiddie pool.

Now that Erik is putting pen to a much different set of papers, some trolls decided to put their focus on Nikki for missing out on her ex's big payday.

Nikki was clearly fed up with the narrative on Wednesday ... going to Instagram to fire off a response.

"Lol. I'm going to address this comment NOT as it pertains to my personal life choices but as it relates to a general thought process that I believe a lot of people have and that a lot of people have harassed me with over the years," the 36-year-old said.

"According to crass, ignorant, uninformed society at large, women can't win."

Nikki went on to point out how she believes women's love is seen as superficial -- that they can’t genuinely be in love with a successful person unless they want their money ... if a lady chooses a relationship with an average person, she’s an "idiot."

She also explained she won’t ignore the chatter because it’s been messing with her mental health for years ... and called on people to be nicer with their words.

To finish her point, the mother of three let her followers know she is not the one to be tried with their "bulls***."

As for the contract, Spo is one of the most successful and respected coaches in the game today ... and even guys like LeBron James said the deal is worth every penny.
