"The card has been plagued with numerous injuries - the most injuries per card in UFC history -[citation needed] with multiple potential fights being called off as a result.

A proposed main event featured UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva facing off against former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort. However, it was announced by Silva's manager Ed Soares that the fight will not happen at UFC 108 because Silva will not be fully healed from elbow surgery.

A bout between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin for the UFC Heavyweight Championship was rescheduled from UFC 106 to UFC 108, but this fight will not take place due to a continuing illness of Lesnar.[2]

The winner of a bout between Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez was to be guaranteed a title shot for the UFC Heavyweight Championship against the eventual winner of Lesnar vs. Carwin.[3] The planned bout was later scrapped when Nogueira was forced to pull out of the fight due to a severe case of staph infection.[4] A possible Velasquez vs. Carwin match for an interim belt has been ruled out as a new main event due to Carwin undergoing knee surgery,[5] although the fight may take place at a later date.[6][7]. The Nogueria/Velasquez bout is scheduled for February 21, 2010 at UFC 110.[8]

Gabriel Gonzaga was forced to pull out of his bout with Junior dos Santos on November 25, due to illness.[9] Gonzaga was replaced by Gilbert Yvel[10]

Paul Daley was scheduled to face Carlos Condit but on December 9, it was announced that Condit had pulled out due to injury. [11] Condit was replaced by Dustin Hazelett.[12]

On December 11, Tyson Griffin pulled out of his bout with Jim Miller, citing an injury.[13] Sean Sherk, who originally had a fight with Rafaello Oliveira, stepped as up as Griffin's replacement.[14] However, on December 17, Sherk pulled out of the fight, Duane Ludwig replaced Sherk. [15]

Martin Kampmann vs. Rory Markham was also called off days later after a knee injury. On December 14 it was announced that Jacob Volkmann would be replacing Markham. Volkmann is coming off short rest after last fighting at UFC 106. [16]

On December 29, it was announced that Steve Cantwell had pulled out of his scheduled bout with Vladimir Matyushenko. Since there was no time to find a suitable replacement for Matyushenko, the bout was called off.[17]"

The main event can go either way, even though Rashad is the favorite in online betting...

Damn....TUF got me wishin bad upon Rashad. I used to like him...

dont know why but i feel the same way!!

I am still going for Rashad tho>>Maybe I just want Rampage to beat him:D

Wont be around to watch the fights..H-Funk Im gonna need those links..(megaupload hopefully):yes:

I'll see what I can do on Sunday/Monday, bro.

I am working 7pm - 7am tonight, so I'm out from around 6:20pm - 8:30am ... gonna get my download on in the coming days too :D

Why? He's only lost one fight to a dude who hasn't (on record, at least) lost a fight. Scrap you entire fighting plan over one loss? :dunno:

Does he need to wait for two losses to change his plan.

Besides the majority of his wins came using his wrestling first mentality. Him becoming primarily a striker is when he actually changed his game plan.

I think I give the edge to Rashad on this one. Both him and Silva are tough dudes ... but Thiago comes across as slower and more straight-ahead. Rashad's footwork and head movement is more developed (due to his wrestling background) ... plus you can't knock Rashad's camp @ Jackson MMA.

Their roster is nice.

- RASHAD EVANS
- SHANE CARWIN
- JAMES MCSWEENEY
- BRENDAN SCHAUB
- KEITH JARDINE
- DONALD CERRONE
- LEONARD GARCIA
- GSP (when he trains with them aside from Montreal's Tri-Star Gym)
- CLAY GUIDA (has trained with them in recent memory)
- JOE STEVENSON (has trained with them in recent memory)

A smart fighter would 'adjust' his fight plan to whoever he fights, while maintaining his fundamentals. You don't scrap your whole fight plan, because you lost... unless your fight plan was shite to begin with (which Rashad's was not). His wresting is still there. But not all of his opponents are equally susceptible to grappling. He adjusted. Had he not, his competition would have adjusted to his wrestling and we'd be saying he needs to improve his striking.

That's why I said he should return to his plan that got him to this point which wasn't striking. Striking is his new game plan.

If Rashad was concerned about adjusting to the fighter he is fighting he should have been 'smart' enough to adjust to Machida and realize he will not outstrike a superior striker. Who knows how susceptible Machida was to his takedown, cause Rashad never attempted to take him down.

Improving striking is one thing, striking primarily is another. Especially when your a wrestler. Rashad needs to strike to set-up his wrestling unless he has a clear striking advantage, and even then he will still be more dangerous if you expect a takedown attempt.

^ i think theres vids of her dancing nekkid on supertangas.

I am interested to see if Gilbert Yvel can get a KO. he is a really good striker, but his groundgame is nonexistant.. dude has NO groundgame.

DAMn! THE NEW RING GIRL IS HOT! IM READY FOR THE FIGHTS TO COME ON.UNDERCARD ON SPIKE TV AT 8PM CT!

Ok, I can't dispute the Machida fight. Rashad fucked up. Personally, I think he was scared of Machida. It's hard to implement any fight plan if your opponent's in your head.

you are correct and he won't make that mistake twice.

him vs. Silva is kinda interesting....since Silva will walk straight into the fray while Rashad will bob and weave throughout the fight.

I hope Rashad gets his ass beat. I used to pull for him, but when listening to his commentary during the Rampage / Jardine fight, I couldn't stand him. Plus he just really seemed like a bitch on the show. He's got talent, but tonite, I want him to realize that he is a B level fighter.

could you blame Rashad??

that's his training partner.
