Daisy Ridley had to force herself to resist treating the new Star Wars droid, BB-8, like a child star on the Force Awakens set. During a recent interview, the actress told TIME about how director J.J. Abrams had to remind her that the adorable robot is actually a serious character.
“I had a chat with BB-8, and I remember J.J. saying, ‘He’s not a child’ and obviously the impulse because he’s small and cute is to infantilize. The impulse is to baby talk, but he’s not a child. He’s a droid with a mission,” she says. “But after they created him and puppeted him everyday and they gave him so much life that it didn’t really feel any different to acting with a person. He’s there moving around, he’s making noises, he’s responding to what I’m saying. It really is just like having a conversation.”

then why make it cute?? thats a mixed message. BB-8 has DISNEY DESIGN written all over it.
R2D2 and C3PO weren't cute, Chewie and Yoda weren't cute. The Ewoks WERE cute and they were treated like children to some extent by luke and leia.
also BB is social media short hand for baby.

Not that long ago, on a college campus not that far away, one student made a surprising discovery: John Boyega, currently staring in the biggest movie in American history, did a stint as a stock photo model.
Someone at the University of Nebraska spotted Boyega in ads around the school, and shared the discovery on Imgur.
It's true: As photographer Chris Schmidt posted on Facebook in late December, Boyega participated in the Getty Images stock photo shoot long before he ever appeared in Star Wars(though it's unclear exactly when).

"I did an education-themed stock photo shoot with a bunch of teenage students; it turns out John Boyega did quite well afterwards," Schmidt wrote. "The force is strong with this one..."
Boyega, 23, confirmed the images, the usual stock photo fare of smiling students posed around a campus, in a tweet Friday.
Responding to a follower, he said that he used the money from the photos "for new trainers."

see, shaddy is playing a role. EPDC called a dude a janitor JUST because he's Black. that IS self hate. Storm Troopers GUARD positions. the joke was there because Han used the sanitation route to sneak off the star destroyer. so they put GUARDS there. Fin is one of them, a direct result of Han's actions.

In the movie, when he says "sanitation", he doesn't mean janitorial or waste removal.
From a military perspective, "sanitation" has a completely different meaning.
Think more like "sanitize" the village or "dispose of the local population".

Read his chapter in the Before the Awakening novel. So now that I read this again I'm like
got about 30 min left but had to drop my 2 cents 
dope ass movie...very rarely I'll see a flick and say to myself I wouldn't have minded seeing it in theaters...my only dislikes (initially) was that finn shouldn't have been casted as a storm trooper and the lead shouldn't have been a prepubescent looking white chic...but after about 35 minutes after they escaped in the millennium falcon...I fell in love w/ the characters...after a while finn starting off as a storm trooper made sense and the chic grew on me...can't wait to see these characters get older...develop and get stronger...luke is obviously the chic father...I'd be surprised to see it go any other way 
and she will obviously be the 1st chic to lead and be a jedi warrior...I'd like to see finn be a jedi too...him popping open that light saber for the 1st time was dope...luke need some new recruits so hey why not both? I'm just curious as to who trained her tho...that "come with me" voice sounded familiar...my guess is maybe vader although prolly not or the hologram dude kylo was talking too...whoever it was a beast tho cuz she know more than kylo the way she flipped the force on him and shit dope ass movie tho...actually I have one more gripe...I wish this was ep 10 instead of 7 to leave room for another "prequel" showing how luke went wrong training kylo and how the resistance got weak again so fast

I was already c/s'ing buk's comments before I seen most of the flick...now they make sense more than ever...had no issue w/ finn character or the acting @ all...I was just used to storm troopers being emotionless and anonymous but the way they went w/ it worked...dude was a major player in the game

thats the first thing i noticed. In the oritinals , someone would occoasioally question vader, they would even bicker over strategy. But you could tell EVERYBODY feared Vader. Ren was cool until he took his mask off.
That made no sense, no organization can be ran successfully if you have people like Vader or Ren just randomly killing officers who don't agree with them
who questioned vader?? the one person who mocked his religion got force choked..the only person who commanded vader grand moff tarkin... which essentially established vader as some powerful henchman. He didn't come into his own until he got promoted by the emperor and then he was killing officers like nothing for failing him..
It was a good movie
