Re: Early reviews for Man Of Steel looking shaky

I'm still skeptical of this "emotional kryptonite". I'm also eager about da easter eggs that will be in da movie.

I think you (and others) are taking that phrasing too serious. Superman looks to be searching for his place on earth, after growing up with the knowledge that he is from another world. He is not human, but defends them against a Kryptonian invasion. His emotional kryptonite may be his humanistic approach to life and death, choosing between the values of both his biological and adoptive fathers, etc...his.human "emotions" will be messed with.

Looking forward to it, but Clark Kent is an integral part of Superman's existence. that's what the Reeves film got perfect, the duality of Clark/Supes.

Hitting the gym for two hours and catching midnight showing tonight..gotta hit the dry cleaners and pick up th cape

Re: Early reviews for Man Of Steel looking shaky

I think it's a tired story. To be honest, I was never a big Superman fan.

I think it is too. I don't feel da need to see da beginnings/origin of Superman every movie. But Batman/Bruce Wayne >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Superman/Clark Kent

Re: Early reviews for Man Of Steel looking shaky

I was rooting hard for this to work...I even thought the last one wasnt all bad.

I think the issue is the writers always want to modernize Superman or make him tough and gritty and he isnt.

That is why the relationship between him and Batman work so well.

In a way Superman chose this path...Pa Kent gave him the foundation, he was given a choice.

Batman was almost cursed.

Superman is the original colorful superhero dont run from it embrace it. He is a Boy Scout and NO ONE understands the burden he secretly carries to be an ideal, to be perfect.

That's your story right there.

They should even keep it in the 1950s.

I'm still gonna give it a shot though...

Interesting thought.

Hell IGN gave it a 9 but I'm skeptical when it comes to their reviews, they gave Galaxy S4 a 7.3 rating. Lol

Great point and great post homie

Great point and great post homie

:D

They should keep it classic but fun with serious undertones kinda like the old Reeves TV serials crossed with Mad Men.

I need to get Bills and maybe GoW together so we could knock out a spec script in like a week:lol:

 Ive been saying the same thing all along...although I think this movie will be good, Superman's original story did not call for such a dark treatmment...he was America's symbol of everything good (even though he was a racist, asshole of a symbol for the first 30 years of his existence) where Batman was the dark detective who fights insanity everyday...

I will go see it but they are trying too hard to follow the Dark Knight trend in Superhero treatment...the reason why the Avengers was so refreshing was because it stood on its own character-wise..DC Comic movies are too hackneyed recently imo

Re: Early reviews for Man Of Steel looking shaky

I'd love to see Doomsday but I know they'd fuck it up:smh::smh::smh:

How exactly. Its not like there is a lot of depth to that character. Just make a big gray hulk with spikes, have him tear through city and countryside and have Supes battle him in Metropolis.

Re: Early reviews for Man Of Steel looking shaky

Personally, I'm waiting on Braniac...

I personally think those two movies are STRONG possibilities. I'm betting if this reboot does the numbers a Braniac/Lex Luther movie is almost GUARANTEED to be the next movie.

Doomsday/Darkseid would very likely by a JLA movies.

This is the first time I've ever been tempted to see a 12:01am showing for a movie

Re: Early reviews for Man Of Steel looking shaky

midnite show regardless. I already have my tix.

Re: Early reviews for Man Of Steel looking shaky

Who the fuck listens to professional movie critics anymore? Those idiots don't know WTF the general public likes. They are detached. Go see the damn movie and judge it for yourself! You sheep! :smh:

DISAGREE

Actually his expanded origin story could be hold a lot of metaphors and be a real solid jumping off point for a good writer...

a being who was created abused tortured and destroyed over and over and over...

now tell me a REAL writer couldn't use that as a powerful accessible metaphor...

I understand, but it supposed to be a Superman movie. To get into a complete origin of a villain like Doomsday would make for too long a film.

They just need to explain it quickly, then roll into the destruction/battle sequences.

The origin of Doomsday is that he is a kryptonian..the FIRST kryptonian. Long before it became Krypton as we know it a geneticist used the planet to develop the ultimate being. He called it "The Ultimate" In order to do that he had to create and destroy Doomsday thousands of times or so that it would evolve and adapt to the hostile environment that krypton was at that time. As a result it developed all those abilities and was essentially unkillable or at least you couldn't beat it the same way twice. It also remembered all the times it was tortured and killed and so developed a MASSIVE hate-on everything especially anything from krypton.

Superman_Man_of_Steel_Vol_1_18.jpg

when he finally shows up on Earth he beats a host of heroes basically with one hand tied behind his back before superman arrives. And its discovered he is especially pissed at Supes because he comes from the same planet of his torture and development. Doomsday being the first being of krypton and Kal-El being the last.

If they were do that as a movie they would have to play up that connection and it would be more thanjust tearing up metropolis. That battle should properly take place all over the world and even the moon.

I would have scene where superman throws doomsday up to the moon so that he could fight him without worrying about the damage and from people POV on earth all they would see is huge mushroom clouds rising and the surface of the moon cracking as Superman and Doomsday rock it..lol

moon%20boom.jpg

but they won't do that..it'll be some weak convoluted storyline with some half decent action :smh:

Re: Early reviews for Man Of Steel looking shaky

wasting too much time on the origin story of a villain would be detrimental.

If the villain is compelling it wont take away from it.

Heck in the Dark Knight Heath Ledger's joker just shows up with no back story but that role/performance was one of the better performances we have seen on film in years

Re: Early reviews for Man Of Steel looking shaky

I don't care who the hero is- I'll just be when the studios quit retelling origin stories.

It's like watching the same rerun over and over and over...:smh:

I personally welcome this approach and story because it only makes sense. In the real world if someone like him existed people would be afraid. How does he handle it? Living in a world that's like paper to him. Being the only one of his kind on Earth? Having to hide who he is? Hearing all those people talking at once in stereo and sorting out what's right in front of him. It takes a true SUPER MAN to be Superman because if any of us were to have his powers we'd likely go mad from lack of control or let the power go to our head. The question this movie seems to explore is "What makes Superman human?" And secondary to that is the action that will take place when Zod comes. I can't wait. Fuck an all-action, explosions every 5 minutes, no plot fucking film. Comic book movies can be intelligent too.

Anyone not understanding my point should check out these comics and see how easily a super man can go bad...

like i tried to tell everybody hollyweird already did brainiac..superman 3 the bad superman was hollyweird version of brainiac..hopefully they can do the real version in these new reboot

I thought the bad superman in Superman 3 was more Bizarro. The super computer Superman faced was more Braniac.
