Paulinho: Tottenham's Brazilian target will leave Corinthians

_68426811_171562230.jpg

Brazil midfielder Paulinho's expected £17m move to Tottenham has moved closer after the player revealed he would be leaving Corinthians.

Last month Paulinho said Spurs had made a bid for him and he would decide his future after the Confederations Cup.

The 24-year-old scored 34 goals in 167 games for the Brazilian side and featured in his country's 3-0 win over Spain in Sunday's cup final.

"What I have to say to Corinthians is 'see you soon'," he said.

"Pretty soon I'll be back, owing to everything you have done for me."

Real Madrid have also shown interest in Paulinho, but he is expected to move to White Hart Lane.

Paulinho has made 17 appearances for Brazil and scored five times, including goals in their 3-0 Confederations Cup win against Japan and the 2-1 semi-final victory over Uruguay.

I wonder how AVB plays him then. 4-4-2 and one of the 4 across the middle, or a 4-2-3-1 with him alongside Sandro as the 2.

MCP what say you?

I'm a bit confused here, Last season AVB used a 4-3-3 system and also a 4-4-2 when needed. If Paulinho does decide to come to the lane, where does that leave Dembele and Huddlestone?

We definitely need another striker as Adebayor is not doing it for me.

Hmmm I could very well be mistaken, but I remember there being a flat 4-4-2 with Dembele and Parker/Huddlestone in at times? I don't remember the 4-3-3 so much.

In any case, seems like there's good competition in that middle now with the addition of Paulinho.

Adebayor does his thing but he's super inconsistent. Just do us all a favor and don't sign Benteke.

Yikes.

AVB has tried to change the way spurs play. Yes under harry they played a very flat 4-4-2. Last season AVB experimented in certain games with a 4-3-3 which allowed some flexibility.

He'd better be very careful where that line of reasoning goes, because once you start looking at the money in football...lol

Gonzalo Higuaín set to complete £23m move to Arsenal from Real Madrid

Gonzalo-Higuain-010.jpg

Gonzalo Higuaín is on the verge of signing for Arsenal for £23m. The Argentinian striker is hoping to fly to London on Thursday evening to complete the move after Real Madrid gave him permission to formally reach agreement with the London club.

Higuaín, who has been talking to Arsenal for some time, had also received an offer from Juventus. But the Italians' bid failed to convince Madrid and they instead signed Carlos Tevez.

Higuaín's father and agent, the former footballer Jorge Higuaín, told Fox Sports Latin America that a final resolution was close. "We managed to get permission from Real Madrid to negotiate face to face with Arsenal," he said. "Fortunately, I will soon be able to watch my son play in the Premier League."

Higuaín is expected to sign a deal on £100,000 a week, putting him among the club's top earners, and Arsenal remain keen to pair him up front with Wayne Rooney should Manchester United be willing to let him go.

The 25-year-old was on the verge of leaving Real Madrid last summer but was persuaded to stay by a combination of José Mourinho, team-mates and fans. But, signed by the former president Ramón Calderón, he has long felt unsupported at institutional level, despite scoring 107 league goals in 190 games over the last six and a half seasons since arriving as a 19-year-old. Higuaín's competitor for the striker's position, Karim Benzema, was a personal signing of the president Florentino Pérez.

Last season Mourinho used both Higuaín and Karim Benzema in the central striking position but rarely seemed entirely convinced by either man and Higuaín tended to start the biggest games on the bench. He scored 16 in 28 league games but just one in nine Champions League matches.

Higuaín publicly announced his departure, following the final game of the season against Osasuna. "It has been seven years at Real Madrid and I need a change," he said. "This is a decision that I have taken calmly, it is not a snap decision. No one has gifted me anything: I have always had to fight. I came here for €12m and they will sell me for a lot more. I want to go where they show they really want me."

He also said that day: "I know that Juventus want me." But it is Arsenal who will finally get him.

Why does Rooney want to leave the club ?

We'll never "officially" know, but it seems as though he's lost a bit of that glare that he's known for and doesn't like it.

RVP has taken control of that front line, while Shinji Kagawa is a better #10 in the hole than Rooney is. Couple that with the Champions League excursion last season during the Madrid encounters, and boom, transfer request.

In the camera's eye, he claims to be a "team player" and "understands" why Ferguson dropped him, (which to anyone who watched the games could clearly see why) but his actions during and following the tie weren't really those of a team player, but more so a pouting little boy.

Personally, i'm not hard pressed on him staying. If he wants to leave, I say cash in on him and let him fly. Madrid, PSG, Chelsea would more than be willing to pay some 40-50 million for him.

There's plenty of talent in Europe to fill in that void with that kind of capital.

Argentina, Uruguay may co-host in 2030

centenariostadiummontevideo_275x155.jpg

FIFA want the World Cup in 2030 to be jointly hosted by Argentina and Uruguay to mark the competition's centenary, according to the head of the Argentinian FA.

The first final was held in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo in 1930, where the hosts beat their neighbours 4-2 to lift the old Jules Rimet trophy in the inaugural tournament.

With the next three editions of the tournament being held in Brazil, Russia and Qatar respectively, and the venue for 2026 still to be decided, the world governing body has already decided on how best to mark the anniversary.

"FIFA wishes to celebrate the World Cup's 100 years in Argentina and Uruguay, I can confirm that," AFA president Julio Grondona, who is also FIFA's senior vice-president, told Argentina's Radio 10.

"(An agreement) has been signed by the two associations (AFA and Uruguay's AUF). What will we do? We'll see but surely something of quality."

According to Reuters, Uruguay's Tourism and Sports ministry formally approached FIFA president Sepp Blatter at the 2010 World Cup about the idea, while a joint Argentine-Uruguayan bid has the backing of South American governing body CONMEBOL.

The 2002 tournament staged in Japan and South Korea is the only World Cup to be co-hosted to date.

Barcelona agree to loan forward Bojan to Ajax

arcelona have agreed to loan forward Bojan Krkic to Ajax Amsterdam for the 2013-14 campaign with an option for a further season, the Spanish champions said on Saturday.

The 22-year-old spent the past two seasons playing in Italy's Serie A, enjoying a reasonable season for AS Roma but barely featuring last term at AC Milan.

A product of Barca's youth academy, Bojan was once regarded as one of the club's the most promising talents but fell out of favour under former coach Pep Guardiola.

Thiago Silva wants to join Barca

thiago-silva-presser490ai_6.jpg

Thiago Silva has told those close to him that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain and join Barcelona, claim Marca.

The Madrid-based newspaper believe that the Brazilian centre-back is desperate to move to the Blaugrana, with Dani Alves and Tito Vilanova both personally asking the defender to sign.

Silva would have, according to the paper, put pen-to-paper with the Camp Nou club last season, but already had a gentleman's agreement with PSG director Leonardo.

The 28-year-old feels he has honoured that now though, and wants to leave for Barca. The departure of Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid is also a factor in his thinking.

The French side's owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi has already claimed that Thiago Silva will not be sold.

As much as Wazaa has been one of my favorite players for the past years he has gotten a little too emotional for me. He went from super hot head not caring, to maturing when he had his kid, now kinda acting bitch made. That may take it far but he has been whining. I do realize all the good he does for the team and stuff that doesn't show up on stat sheets but Shinji is right there in the wings.

Higuan to Arsenal is interesting though. I think he has been under rated for a minute.

Liverpool 'reject £30m offer' from Arsenal for striker Luis Suárez

Soccer---Luis-Suarez-file-008.jpg

Arsenal have had a £30m bid for Luis Suárez turned down by Liverpool, according to reports on Sunday night. The Gunners are believed to have made the audacious offer for the unsettled Uruguayan at the end of last week but the club record bid was immediately rejected.

Liverpool remain keen to keep the striker, despite his recent statements about wanting to leave the Premier League because of his treatment at the hands of the English press.

Rumours of Arsenal's interest surfaced a few days ago after some bookmakers stopped taking money on Suárez moving to north London following a flurry of bets.

Arsenal are still attempting to complete the signing of Gonzalo Higuaín from Real Madrid and any offer for Suárez could be seen as an attempt to pressurise the Spanish side into finalising the deal.

As yet the two clubs have failed to agree a fee for the Argentina international but a figure of around £23m has been mooted.

Sad to see him go, he scored many important goals for Barca.

Atletico pip Spurs to capture Villa

davidvillabarcelonavatleticomadridtransferbuzz20111008_275x155.jpg

Barcelona have confirmed that David Villa will move to Atletico Madrid for a fee that could potentially rise to €5.1 million, with the Rojiblancos beating Tottenham to the striker’s signature.

Villa, 31, had been the subject of a “ridiculous bid” from Spurs, according to Spanish daily Marca, and the offer was immediately rejected by the Barca board.

There was also rumoured interest from Manchester United and Spanish paper Sport suggested Villa could be used as part of an elaborate swap deal aimed to take Wayne Rooney to the Camp Nou.

But, while the Spain international is yet to pass a medical, it seems that Atletico Madrid have all but secured the signature of the national team’s all-time leading scorer.

The transfer appears to suggest Atletico have cooled their interest in another of their transfer targets, Alvaro Negredo, meaning the Sevilla striker could be a step closer to a proposed move to Manchester City.

Barcelona revealed the move on their official website, with Villa’s departure to bring them a maximum of €5.1 million, should the striker stay in Madrid for at least three seasons, while Barca will also pocket 50% from any future transfer if Villa leaves the Vicente Calderon.

It seems to be an excellent piece of business by Atleti, who are hoping that the experienced goalscorer will help fill the void left by Radamel Falcao following his move to Monaco.

The Barca website also points out that Villa’s first competitive game for his new club could be against the Catalans in the Spanish Supercopa.

Why him? who wants to be dealing with long spurs of dealing with a player his character and possibly long suspensions?
I hope and wish we go for this person rather

Everton sign Barcelona prodigy Gerard Deulofeu on season-long loan

USA-v-Spain-Group-A---FIF-010.jpg

Everton have signed one of Spain's most exciting young talents, securing Barcelona's Gerard Deulofeu on loan.

The 19-year-old, who is a Spain international at under-21 level, will join Everton for the season as Roberto Martínez looks to bring a different approach to Everton.

Martínez's arrival at Goodison Park was instrumental bringing the loan to fruitition. Barcelona trust in Martínez to continue Deulofeu's development and provide him with valuable first-team experience, while they are optimistic that a year in England will see him mature swiftly.

Martínez' said: "Gerard is a real diamond of Spanish football and a boy with incredible footballing talent and I am delighted that he has chosen to take the next step of his career with Everton."

Last season Deulofeu was the key creative player in Barcelona's B team, which competes in Spain's second division. He scored 18 goals in 2012-13, the fourth highest total in the division, and signed a new contract in May that runs until 2017.

Although that was formally a first-team contract, he has made only two senior appearances and the arrival of Neymar at the club limited his opportunities in the coming season. But Barcelona are determined not to lose a player considered to be the most talented currently in the club's youth system.

A creative forward of vision, technique and flair who can play off the front or coming in from the left hand side, Deulofeu has represented Spain at U16, U17, U19, and U21 level, where he has three goals in seven games. He was European champion at U19 level in 2011 and 2012 and was named the tournament's best player in 2012.

^ Better than him wasting away on the bench. Hopefully this is preparation for Thiago's departure.

Sorry but I had to. :D

Hearing rumors he might go to Bayern because of Pep.:D

*sigh* Yea i'm hearing them as well, but here's my question... Playing time seems to be Thiago's big thing:

Where on earth would he fit into a 4-3-3 midfield that comprises of Ribery, (switched to #10 by Pep) Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Gustavo, Gotze, Martinez, and Shaqiri...

:eek::eek::eek:

We only have Cleverly and Anderson to compete with...:lol::lol:

Pep can move Mandzuic to CB all he wants.. there's no way this going to work with that much talent in midfield.

Bayern Munich appear to win race to sign Barcelona's Thiago Alcântara

Thiago-Alcantara-010.jpg

Manchester United appear to have missed out on their No1 summer transfer target Thiago Alcântara after reports that Bayern Munich have agreed a deal with the Barcelona midfielder.

Pep Guardiola, who oversaw Thiago's development when in charge at Barcelona, made his play for the 22-year-old on Thursday. According to reports in Italy, where Bayern are training, the Spaniard will sign a four-year deal with the European champions.

Guardiola had described Thiago as "a super, super player" who "can play in three, four or five positions. It is either Thiago or nothing".

David Moyes had hoped to make Thiago, who led the Spain Under-21 team to the Euro 2013 title and scored a hat-trick in the final against Italy, his first major signing as United manager.

Moyes conducted the first training session of United's three-week pre-season tour in Bangkok on Thursday behind closed doors. United play a Singha All Star XI on Saturday and then fly to Sydney. United are there for a week, playing one game against the A-League All Stars, before two matches in Tokyo and one in Hong Kong.

If Thiago goes to United he'll definitely be a first pick.
Going to Bayern is a bad move as it's going to be difficult with all the midfield players they have.
