***Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread***

^ exactly, the best players in the world aren't all that strong.

messi
david villa
etc

having strength does help for players like rooney and drogba but they aint exactly the 7'0+ players americans think are needed to dominiate. some of them dont even know what BS their saying. its actually funny.

Our American sports dont even matter as much as soccer does in other countries. These mofos down here shoot off fireworks during regular games. My neighborhood sounds like a warzone when Sao Paulo and Corinthians play...the entire city shuts down...just for a regular game...

You can get beat to death wearing the wrong team jersey after a game here...mofos are almost ready to disown family members for being fans of rival teams  there was even a movie down here made about that shit....

We like our sports... people LOVE soccer... they live it.

How so true. Maybe one day you guys may come to London to watch a Tottenham V Arsenal. You want to see passion in supporters faces around when these two teams play. I live in London and one thing is for sure, you won't see me wearing my Spurs top outside the emirates.:smh:

Cosign again. haha. I think its because the teams represent more than just sports. They represent politics, religion et al. Look at clubs like Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, Rangers, Celtic, Roma, Lazio et al. When you watch highlights from Chelsea/Barca and see Celtic fans wildly celebrating with the Catalans in stamford bridge, you see how little sport has to do with it.

Not so sure what you meant about Celtic supporters celebrating Barca scoring against Chelsea. Celtic are from scotland. Any other team in London would give cause to celebrate, but not Celtic.

In the sport of football, in which people try and send their best people, Jozy Altadore will find people who will run as fast if not faster, who handle ball far much better, who have more guile and knowledge of tactics. He will discover that in being a king in the land of the blind means nothing.

Shaq maybe 7'1, other countries have 7 footer as well. Good goal keeping is moe about reflexed than it is about size. Some of the best goal keepers are small, as is Casillas of Real Madrid, as was Jorge Campos of Mexico...

Quit imagining that you have physical advantages, because you do not...

yes people send the best people interested in actually playing soccer. our best people ARE NOT interested and WERE NOT interested in playing soccer from youth. jozy altidore i doubt could compete in any of the MAJOR sports we have so please dont use him as an example

other countries dont have 7 footers that are even remotely close to as athletic as shaq so dont go there..see yao ming etc.

you're just an ignorant jaded fool who doesnt know what he's talking about our convo back and forth is done

You are what you are.. You can cry all you want, but you more than 300 million people, and more than 2x the money of the next richest country... What we are seeing is what we are seeing.

and none of that money is for soccer...

These adds must be for Americans because out there in the rest of the world, no one knows any of these people.

we know em and thats all we care about :)

This is a ridiculous statement.. How do you know this? I went to school with one or two people who were that size who were not bad cross country runners..

Kohler, the center forward for the Czech Republic in 2002, was 6'8, and scored against the US in the 8th minute... Please talk about what you know... Yao Ming is just one man and the Chinese, generally, area a small race..

Yeah no one knows about NBA players but in the U.S.....

Everybody knew Michael Jordan, as they do Kobe and Lebron, but they do not know or care about Dwight Howard. They did not know about Karl Malone, or even what a power forward is... Quit deluding your self..

Then you should have said that. Did I not post Kobe?

Pointless "arguing" with you.

Yes I should. The commercials featured Garnett and Reggie Bush.. who knows those people? Kobe is different; he should be known in the world because generally, people know the two or three best American players..

****corrected post

MLS has been losing what, 50 mil a year for 14 years... The Yanks are putting money in the game...I wish they would structure the league properly with promotions and demotions, and have at least 50 teams in it...

there isnt enough interest in soccer yet to garner that type of structure. mls is lucky to even exist to be honest

This is not true... The World Cup in the US set ridiculous attendance records. Each game attracted 20 000 more people per game than any world cup before or since. The final in Pasadena, between Italy and Brazil, was watched by a full house of 108 000. If Americans were to win the world cup, the sport would explode and America would become the richest and most competitive league overnight. All the brothers who play basketball would switch to football once they say players having 10 million a year contracts. Americans are not only richer, per capita wise than Europeans, but America by itself has a consumer market almost equal to that of all Europe combined... There is a potential goldmine here and that is why Fifa and the Europeans have opened the doors for America and its players...

thanks for making my point.
as it stands they arent interested and dont play so we wont succeed. i hope we do well but realistically we cant win.

If your point is that America would win the world cup because brothers were playing, I am not supporting that contention. Would they have a better team? Probably, because they would exert more effort than the pitiful effort they do now. You would have people playing the game day and night horning their skills. America would be a player... Winning the World Cup is another matter, countries like France took 68 years to win the Cup even though Fifa and the idea of the World Cup were concocted by a French man called Jules Rimet..

oh dam.......FAIL.....

This Is Why World Cup Previews Shouldn’t Come Out Early: Giuseppe Rossi/ESPN Edition.

Marcello Lippi named his team today and Giuseppe Rossi ain’t on it. (Largely because of rough form due to injuries and the death of his father.)

Does this now imply America has no hope at the World Cup?...

Giuseppe Rossi misses Italy squad, goofs up ESPN cover

Italy coach Marcello Lippi named his 23-man World Cup squad late Tuesday, and when he finally did so there was no room for striker Giuseppe Rossi....... Born in New Jersey to Italian immigrant parents, Rossi has two passports and could have played for either the USA or Italy. He famously chose Italy, and scored two goals against the U.S. at the 2009 Confederations Cup. Which didn't go down so well with American fans.

I've murdered you consistently on several different occasions, and this one is no different.

The bullshit about mental toughness and stamina is ignorant bullshit from someone who knows nothing about football. The day an American is among the first 10 people in a marathon, come back and talk to me about stamina.

Africans come with too many mental issues... In 2002 Cameroon refused to get on their plane in Sweden, and then when they reached Thailand, the got off and would not get on again, until their allowances were assured. Their performance in Korea/ Japan was indicative of their lack of mental focus. Fuck them.

You sir, are the quintessential definition of a cocksucker. If you could for once in your pathetic attempt at a pretentious, useless life notice the contradictory bullshit you utter time and time again, you'd actually be worth spilling beans for.

I've never shitted on American education, and I never will because it ranks the highest in the world consistently over the span of history, which is the reason you learned how to spew your emotions over the net, but point blank, you deserve a refund. Someone dicked you.

Your inconsistencies are enough to make me disappear, and reappear in utter amazement.

which is what i said from post 1
argued just to argue to end up making my point over and over again. thanks:dance:

There is no contradiction... A mentally weak person is by definition someone who wilts under pressure, someone who has the fight sapped out him by appearance of an opponents aggression. That is not the problem Africans have; theirs are political problems they come from home with. Usually, they are related to money promised but not paid. Sometimes, it comes from the way a team is selected, with blatant favouritism, nepotism and ethnicism being manifest in the process. The players come in sapped of all zeal and desire to win. I repeat, it is not that the come wanting to win, and then surrender in the middle of the game.

If you had asked for clarification, I or someone else would have explained this to you since we know our teams very well.

Where was Dooley born, where is Onyewu from, where is Jozey Altadore from, what kind of crap is this and who are Americans to even talk this shit? Their greatest hope for many years was Freddy Adu... where was Freddy Adu born? Giuseppe Rossi made the right decision. Italy is the defending world champion and has a better chance of success than the Americans do...

You step to me, you better bring some evidence. In other words, get the fuck outta here with this bullshit.

I'll never knock no one for an opinion, because that's what they feel, and you can't argue opinion, but when you atone yourself in a condescending way, and attribute your opinion to be fact, and nothing else, that's where there's a problem.

If you know your teams so fucking well, why don't you step into CAF's front offices, and do something about the shit?? Shake some pockets, open up a can of worms, stand up for the hype you spew... be active. That's cause all you can do is talk.

Point blank, you're a fan, just like everyone else here. The only difference between us and you, is that you speak from a ridiculous bias that borders lunacy.

Fail.

The FACT is, there is corruption on every level of football, in every corner of the planet. That's a fact. Not just my opinion.

Learn the difference.

So I destroyed your claims, and your response is to attack me personally... obviously you must be at the end of your football knowledge and that is why you are saying this nonsense...

The correctness of a decision is made by him. He has had these players in camp and he knows what he has seen. I am only commenting on the astonishing revelation that Americans were angry because Giuseppe Rossi scored against them. Why?

Why was Freddy adu ever hyped as a future star. He never showed any skill or special ability. He wasn't a dribble, he could not shoot. What exactly was special about his talent. I knew he would fail in Europe. The kid is garbage. Wallcott is garbage but 10x better than adult.

And obviously you have nothing relevant to say anymore because any mammal with two functioning eyes, and a IQ of 4 can see I buried everything you said.

You think cause you can mix your views with some football history, that you know better than everyone else here??

Stay in ya lane small time. You couldn't flex wit me on a good day.

Back to football...

In America he was touted as the next great thing; it was a one eyed king in the land of the blind deal. He was given a $500 000 contract at age 14 and drafted in the MLS. They thought they had a superstar in the making.

Anyone can read for themselves and see that I destroyed all your weak and predjudiced judgements. Then you resorted to attacking me personally. In this case I consider your scorn and anger a badge of honour.

There would be people just as fast if not faster. This is the world's sport, and every country puts fort its best players. Furthermore, he would have to have skill, since speed without skill is useless..

This is obvious man...however, the type of quickness of people like iverson and barry sanders is fucking RARE for any sport anywhere in the world...

We are saying IF they were as skilled in soccer as they were in football or basketball with the same athletic gifts..

is not 7ft. there is a huge difference. you talk what you dont know constantly. my point was if there were as many 7 footer wit those specs out there they'd be discovered and coveted
If size was a factor in the success of a team, the Dutch who are tallest Westerners would have been featuring a team of 7 footers long ago. However, the optimun height of a football player is 5'10. That is also the average height of a football players... Shaq is 7 foot, but if you look at him or team Duncan, they are always the last people to arrive during a fast break. You do that in football if you are defender, they will score; if you are striker, you wont score. If you are goalie, they will capitalise on your slowness by misdirections and score on you. Remember, passes travel faster than people run...

shaq is not slow from side to side has never been. and being a goalie thats all he has to do. with his athletic ability and his size and wingspan with a lifelng background in soccer=greatest goalie ever

you proved my point eons ago though so im done with ya. have a nice day

How did I attack you personally? I attacked your statements because they're equipped with fallacies rather fact. You got ousted, and retaliated by saying I attacked you personally.

Logic escapes this one. :smh:
