No Pacquiao vs. Thurman thread????

ADOBO CHICKEN POWER MOTHERFUCKER!

During the fight, Lennox and Joe Goosen were talking about how Thurman only went straight back when Manny was coming after him, which was obviously a mistake. Floyd went straight back and then immediately darted to the left as soon as Manny got close. He did it the whole fight and Manny could never catch him. Floyd is a natural counterpuncher, though, so he pretty much always fights going backwards. Thurman is more of a pure boxer-puncher. He doesn't know how to evade as well... neither does he want to.

I think Spence is too big for Pacquiao.... But they will probably fight anyway. Somebody has to put Spence over as the new King.
It’s stil a shame this new generation can’t even beat the last generation at FORTY. Manny isn’t even the top of the top. OR it says a lot about today’s nutrition. And training routines, when properly used. And Manny was in several wars. Props cuz he did look good and not a bit slower. He said Keith was hitting him hard though. He didn’t like that but he got through it. He hurt Keith visibly more.

BAbrabrabbahhhh..
This fucking clown is wearing a purse.
BUT DO NOTE how respectful and articulate his tone got when he got at the 35 second mark when asked about Pac-Man.
All that coon'ing affect and slang melted away into some straight deferential, Queen's English.

That ass whipping is seared into his memory.

You think you know....Pacquiao is very unique with his style....you never know until you been in there just how fast he is...Thurman knew Pacquiao's footwork was good but didnt know how good....he would have a different strategy for dealing with that now...very hard to get a sparring partner that can approximate Pacquiao
Ok, everything you said just points to Thurman losing again. He can’t. Find a sparing partner and he will hire trainers who can’t figure Pac-Man out. Lol.

I am saying he has now seen what Pacman looks like...he fought the man for 12 rounds...I like Thurman in a rematch...you disagree and that's fine...nothing can prepare you for a fight with a unique talent better than a prior fight with that unique talent....Thurman would surely be better prepared and Pacman would be older...and yes Pacman has seen Thurman also so there is that too

The fuck was Pac hittin' him with, two socks full of nickels? Damn.

Right!!!

Thurman was coming on in the middle rounds 5-10. Until that body shot had him shit his pants and derailed his comeback in the fight. I would take Thurman in the rematch

Yeah that body shot changed everything, probably could have ended the fight if he recognized and had time to land more to that area in the round.

Damn shame to lose to a washed 40 year. This makes Mayweather's absolute demolishing of Pax, look so much more amazing. I mean damn Mayweatherade Canelo look childish and stupid in the ring, and basically had Pac running in circles.

Mayweather is an asshole, but was such an amazing athlete.

OK, Pac has looked rejuvenated after losing to that sorry ass Australian dude. What they hell are they shooting up in his veins? How do you get more power, more active in your 40's, while training part time?

Sparring partners and trainers can't fix his main weakness. Dude can't take a body shot to save his life. He's like King Hippo from Mike Tyson's Punchout.

To quote Roy Jones Jr.: "Manny Pacquiao is a completely different animal."

His forty is not everyone else's forty.

One thing Timothy Bradley said about fighting Pacquiao is that his feints are UNBELIEVABLY effective. Pac will feint with his left, get you to react, then hit you when you are out of position. This fight was basically a feint clinic. By the ninth round Thurman was reacting to every move that Pac was making. That is classic Pacquiao strategy. Get you jumpy and then take advantage.

Anybody trying to actually BEAT Manny will get their asses handed to them. The mission, also known as the Mayweather principle, is to win the fight and collect a check. The problem is that's Floyd's history. Not theirs. They can't make the adjustment.

Spence could beat him. Otherwise you are on point

That would be a good fight. Going at Manny at 40 is still a dangerous proposition. The question is whether or not folks will pay to see it. The paycheck for both fighters, even though they were charging $75 for that shit, was ridiculously low. Granted, a million dollar payday is a million dollar payday but the real money will come with three fighters. Floyd, Canelo and Marquez. Two are currently retired and after Marquez' knockout of Manny he doesn't want any part of Manny. I remember they offered him a nice sum of money for a rematch and he took a lesser fight for less money. He knew he got lucky in that one.

Eventually Manny will be too old for this shit.

It'd have to be big money for him to do that otherwise he's only gonna fight at 140 from now on like he's been saying

Broner doesn't have the discipline to make 140. That means he'd have to stay in shape between fights which we know he doesn't do.

It never fails, every time a fighter shows a certain vulnerability in one fight someone says this is this fighters main problem. One example that comes to mind is the Porter/Garcia fight, Porter took away Garcia's right hand, so Garcia was ineffective with the right hand all night, so of course, a couple of people came on here the to declare Garcia's biggest problem is he has no right hand. That, of course, is ridiculous but here we go again. I'm not sure what round it was that Thurman was visibly hurt by the body shot but he had taken a lot of good body shots earlier in the fight, he's also taken body shots from Porter, Garcia, and probably most of his professional opponents, so just because a fighter gets hurt by a body shot in one fight doesn't mean he can't take a body shot. Just like Porter took away Garcia's right hand, give Pacquiao credit for landing a good punch.

Who isn't giving Pacquiao credit? I watched enough Thurman fights to see he doesn't take a body shot well.

I noticed it here in the Collazo fight (2:52 mark):

Thurman talks about it here:

Collazo talks about it here:

Porter hurt him to the body as well (1:03 mark - notice they reference the Collazo fight when it happens)

Thurman mentions it here:

I also noticed Manny and Freddie were going to the body more when doing padwork in the last few fights:

Manny mentions it in his strategy:

There was also a Danny Garcia video about it:

Even Thurman tried to play it off and said he's training abs extra hard:

Another video on it:

I'm not saying it wasn't a good shot, but they were committed to going to the body and it showed in this fight.

I stand corrected, I didn't realize he was visibly hurt to the body so much but he still stood strong and walked them all off. He is vulnerable to the body but he's tough enough to come back from them.

"Demolish".....Dominant win yes. When was he last time Floyd "demolished" anyone? That's not who he is......Demolished fighters go to the hospital. Floyd's opponents go to the after party with an "L".

Let's not get carried away now, he was outworked by Pacquiao because Broner really didn't do much, hardly a memorable ass-whipping.
Yea this version of Pacquiao won’t beat you up if you not trying. If you coming forward though, throwing bombs and trying to knock him out he will retaliate.
