New Study: Intermittent Fasting Does Nothing

Oh I arguing against that.

You misunderstood

I want a fasting for dummies safe set of guidelines.

I think something like that is beneficial for not only legitimizing it but having much more successful results and minimizing skepticism and bad results.
The first thing you have to do is figure out what your goals are for fasting, and what results you are looking for, and in what time frame.

You plan to fast (intermittent fasting) by cutting out or cutting down on certain things like sugars, salt, snacking, etc... This will help you to not feel hungry, and breaking your fast. You have to eliminate things that are inflammatories to your body (which can include dairy products). Take it slow and adjust your food portion.

Begin with a simple 16/8. Which is fasting for 16 hours and eating within 8 hours. The great thing about this is most of the fast is done while you are at rest.
So if you stop eating at 7pm, then you won't eat again until 11am the next day and stop eating at 7pm the same day.
When your body adjust to that, then increase your fasting hour.

What’s the dosage on that? How many times a day etc?

I sprinkle cinnamon in oatmeal every morning, and take supplements. I drink Apple Cider vinegar drinks ( maybe 4 ounces a day) and take supplements.

Stop spreading this bullshit. Do we need dairy products? No we dont because we can get calcium, protein, etc from other sources, but milk is a easy source of those nutrients and can be part of a healthy diet.
There is a town in Greece of old ass people that eat yogurt daily

I think it's a great starter for those who want to lose weight but once they've hit that plateau their going to need something else and what that is,I don't know cause everyone is different.

There are many ways of consuming calories this is a different one....

What's the longest you've fasted? I did a ten day fast once.

I've done 3 days max.
After 72 hours, you begin to experience diminishing returns as autophagy begins to wear off and muscle cannibalization begins to occur.

I would approach 10 days like this:

1-3 days - Water and tea (nothing else)
4-7-days - Juicing fruit/veggies (nothing else)
7-10 days - Eating fruits and veggies uncooked

It's not about what science thinks. It's about how man's diet was suppose to be. We were never meant to eat this many times a day.
Yes, you are correct about there not being a consensus protocol from the scientific and medical community. However, it is generally believed amongst dedicated and well-informed practitioners that 24 hours is an excellent basis to derive medium to maximum benefits as ketosis occurs between 12-24hours. Moreover, between the 24-36 hours mark, senescent cells die off via the autophagic process.
Is that bc they don't want you doing it bc it works

All of these.

Im big supporter of fasting

Intermittent fasting is my lifestyle. 20-4 most days with one meal a day on weekends when i eat cheat meals. I do a 36 hour fast weekly from Sunday at 7pm until Tuesdays at 7am. Monday afternoons i hit the gym to hit my squats and deadlifts at the peak of my fast and feel strong as fuck.

Intermittent fasting with healthy eating and cheat meals in moderation along with an exercise program will yield good results.

Plus i have bloodwork to back it up, last A1c was 4.9, my fasting glucose hovers from 80 to 90. I discussed with my dr about fasting and she told me to keep it up.

The biggest thing is doing whatever works for you and finding something that is a lifestyle.

During plateaus its good to take a week off and eat more carbs and do light walking. When you get back to normal your body will react which helps beat plateaus

Beating the plateau is about tricking your hormones. Knowing how to reup your leptin levels.

Yeah it definitely works, I've been doing IF for almost three years now, I've slipped up a few times with late night snacking but always got back on track. I just recently lost 15 pounds in the last six weeks doing 18/6, I'll do a protein smoothie at 2pm and a meal at 8pm. The protein smoothie would be either scoop of chocolate protein powder with half a banana and scoop of peanut butter or vanilla protein powder with mixed berries and spinach/kale mix. For dinner I'd get different Healthy Choice meals and add a 3 pepper and onion blend to it with cheese along with grapes and something like vanilla wafers or pop tart for something sweet. I know IF works because I workout like 4 times a week and know for a fact no matter how much you workout if you're eating bad your body will show it

They been debunking it for some time now. As long as you are in a calorie deficit you will lose weight.
^^^Nothing else needs to said about losing weight. Nothing.

Intermittent fasting is a proven way to meet that calorie deficit, it's easier to do a eating window than trying to eat 3 meals during the day trying to figure out what foods to eat and portions so you can keep your caloric intake low

Naw, it is not proven to make you lose weight any faster than eating regular on a deficit. At the end of the day there is no one way to lose weight, you use the method most comfortable and stay at a caloric deficit.

They gave obese patients (people with fucked up metabolisms and all sorts of hormonal issues) standard high carb diets, with a total caloric restriction as the only limit Intermittent fasting won't do shit if your still eating high carbs. All those carbs, even calorically restrictive are still causing insulin spikes. Also using self reported food logs, is not really valid. Fat people telling the truth about what they ate, :cmonson:

It's a good study on actual humans, over a period of time, so props for that. Most of this work is on mice. Now take both groups, and cut the carbs, control their actual daily food intake, and THEN intermittent fast. I bet the results would drastically favor the fasting group.

Humans are not supposed to be eating all damn day, 4 snacks and shit. Especially since most of what we eat is carbs.

I don't think anyone that has done Intermittent fasting is saying it's the #1 way of losing the weight it's the article that's trying to say that instead of saying it's one of the best ways to lose weight

I've done 10 days fasting before. Just water and green tea. It wasn't that difficult.

Humans are mammals.

Humans produce their own milk. Which is not the same as cow's milk. And baby humans consume their mother's milk, not 45 year old men. If you're not sucking on your Mom's titty at 45 then why are you sucking on a cow's titty, essentially? Milk period, is for babies. Titties dry up eventually and by that time babies are on solid food, be it humans or other mammals.

I can’t see the article because it is behind a paywall but I lost a lot of weight and have a lot more energy when Intermittent Fasting. Without noticeably changing the quality or quantity of food intake.
