I remember having a similar conversation back in summer of 2020 or so on here and getting blasted by the scaredy-cat crew.
What I didn't tell people (because everyone was freaking out over covid) was that I had already had covid ALPHA, not this pussy ass version floating around now.
Someone earlier asked how natural immunity could be as good as a vaccine - its not. ITS BETTER. Any antigen that enters the body through your inate system has to go through the microbiome system and your interferon systems, then to your adaptive system. When it is in your microbiome and IFS, it activates thousands of genes that cause changes in your DNA and start adapting your body to fight the antigen and anything that even looks like it. Vaccines are applied straight to your adaptive system and turn on T and B cells immediately. They skip the process of going through your inate, microbiome and interferon systems that activate other mechanisms in the body that work in tandem with your adaptive system to fight the virus attacking AND develop protection against similar future invaders/variants, etc. Now how well your immune system works is relative to individuals and of course whatever genetic dispositions you may have that make your more vulnerable is on a case-by-case basis.
This, however, does not negate the protection that a vaccine provides. A vaccine is not a cure. Its just an activation tool for the body's own immune system.
So, to make a long story longer, yes natural immunity is better and yes a vaccine is also a good tool.
I've had covid and am vaccinated (but not boosted). I was confident about covid before because I had already had it but really didn't feel like answering 50 million questions. Covid alpha was no walk in the park. It lasted about 2 1/2 weeks and it SUCKED.
The truth is most of these arguments are political. Anti-vaxxers vs virtue signalers; Fuck all y'all.
Get vaccinated or not. I don't give a shit. Just shut the fuck up about it. Its a germ.
Now what you should be asking is what good are MASKS in this era of the highly contagious variants. I have argued that they are useless for the most part. Nobody seems to go as hard against masks as they do against vaccines. At least vaccines provide SOME help to SOME people.
Big Pharma is getting major paper off the mask hustle. I don't buy them and never will. I get them free.
They ain't doing shit against omicron, so what's up?
