Netflix Series: Wu Assassins (Trailer #1) Martial Arts Series Starring Iko Uwais Drops 8/8/19

Episode 8 ladies night is a fucking 10....

That was one of the best girl on girl martial arts fights that I’ve seen on tv...

That blonde haired Asian chick needs to be in more shit... I love her fighting style.

Katheryn Winnick is a black belt in real life and those that watch Vikings know shes a bad ass shieldmaiden in there Lagertha, I love her and 1 reason i'm watching this show along with some others in the cast. Got thru 4 eps so far

Episode 8 is the real deal....

If this gets a season 2... all episodes need to be directed like they did in episode 8. It was perfect.

Yeah Juju Chan has serious martial arts background in a few areas and an alum of NYU Tisch as far as being classically trained actress, she's just done all her work in HK in her career thus far like many other Chinese Americans had to do like Daniel Wu etc. b/c of the barriers of working in Hollywood as an Asian American

Thanks for the background on her....

I looked her up and it says that they call her the Female Bruce lee...

I can definitely see that.. she brings a level of intensity to her fights.

I’m on ep 4 and this shit is an avatar last Airbender rip off right down to all the former Wu Assassin like they did the avatar. Still good though.

What does the Wu Tang Clan have to do with this?
Why not just called it "Assassins"?

Just watched all 10 episodes and I have to say that it’s not bad. It’s not as good as Into the Badlands or Warrior but there is a lot of potential in this.

The fight scenes are fantastic.
The story gets light years better once Tommy Flanagan/Alex McCullough comes in.
And the ending sets up Season 2... if it happens.

Negatives...

The dialogue is bad. Like pretty bad... especially the first 5 episodes.. it does get better.

Some of the acting is also bad.

The CGI is some of the worst i have Ever seen but that does get a little better at the end.

The character development is hit or miss... Flanagan’s character was fully developed while a lot of the other characters weren’t.

But other then that... if you want to just watch good fight scenes with a decent plot.. I’d give this a watch.

The Big positives..

Lewis Tan and the Blonde Asian chick are both gawd damn stars in the making... Especially Lewis Tan.. Dude is way to big for this show. You don't see British Asian dudes with that type of Martial Skill, Charisma, acting ability and dude does his own stunts. Like I was impressed with dude in Into the Badlands, but I only saw glimpses.. Dude fucking impressed me in this shit.. plus every fight scene that he was in was a highlight. On the real.. He was right up there with Iko. That is high praise from me.

If I were Netflix... I'd be all in on the Lewis Tan and Blonde Asian chick business. Especially Lewis Tan... I'd give dude his own series of Action Flicks. He really has the potential to be the next Action Star that we all deserve.

lol... wait till you get deeper into it..

It is alot like the last airbender.

Ep 8 is still the gold standard of this season.

Just finished watching, I hope there's a season 2. It was good but not as good as Warrior. It started off slow the first 3 episodes and some of the dialog was bad. The characters were good and the story was pretty good. The ladies in this show are real legit fighters. Hopefully Zan and Kai will get a fight scene if they do a season 2 for what she did to Uncle Six. I agree with Fronz about the CGI and the other negatives. I was surprised by Iko's English, he was better than I thought he would be. The blonde Katheryn Winnick fight scenes were good and after reading her bio she's legit and she's opened a couple of dojos. I think she would have made a good Captain Marvel fighting wise. Juju Chan shined when they let her talk and fight. She's a legit fighter as well. She should be in more movies\tv shows. Lewis Tan I remember from into the Badlands was great in this as well as Iko whose fight scenes were great. Bryon Mann was great in this show, I liked the diner scene with Iko. Overall I would give this show 7.9\8.0

Real talk Lewis Tan should've been Danny Rand/Iron Fist, instead they casted Loras Tyrell and only gave Lewis Tan the drunken master role in the series smh. I just got thru ep 6 so still have 4 more left.

FACTS... Lewis Tan should have been Danny Rand...

This Dude has got to be in more shit..... If you look at his bio.. It's insane that it took this long for dude to finally get his shine.

Hollywood needs to get JuJu Chan in more shit...

It's fucked up how Hollywood white washes roles that are meant for Asain-Americans, who are more talented than the white people who take their roles.

I hope you're playing, Wu Tang Clan took their name from Martial Arts movies.

Man these kats have got to be Joking with this shit.... I refuse to believe that anyone that Follows Wu Tang or knows anything about their history would be think that this movie has anything with Wu Tang..

Especially since Wu Tang Clan... took there name from a Movie called Wu Tang Clan.

Just finished, definitely not as good of a show as Warrior to me. The pros to me are Katheryn Winnick, Lewis Tan, Juju Chan, Iko. Some decent fighting scenes, should've had a bigger budget if they were going to have supernatural elements in the show. If they get a s2 I may watch it but I'm definitely not anticipating it like I am for s2 of Warrior. Now I gotta hope Amazon will still make this tong wars series https://www.indiewire.com/2017/10/wong-kar-wai-amazon-tong-wars-blossom-television-1201889648/

I do think it’s unfair to compare this warrior... that’s like comparing Into the Badlands with Warrior. Warrior is a different show.. Wu Assassins is probably closer to Into the Badlands when it comes to a campy Martial Arts show and like Into the Badlands.. this first season of Wu had a lot of Rough Areas when it comes to acting and dialogue but the bones of a great show are there. If it does get a second season..Netflix has got to increase the budget. This had the worst CGi that I’ve seen for a Netflix original.

The craziest part is that Wu Assassins is fucking exactly what Iron Fist should have been. It’s almost like this was an attempt at a Do over.

This show had a lot of promise, probably still does. This is my gripe, it's 2019 and we still deal with corny speeches, I almost knew what the characters were going to say before they did.
Several anti-climatic moments, for example, how uncle six revealed to Kai Jin he knew he was the Wu Assassin. CG giving up her cover with the quickness, etc.
Iko's poor facial expressions, enough said.
Slow drawn out scenes, heck even some scenes weren't necessary like CG's boss cliche scene with his wife, I knew there was going to be "baby, you know I love you" somewhere in the conversation then bam, 15 secs into it, it drops!

There were flashes of brilliance here and there, mostly by the seasoned characters like Tommy Flanagan, Katheryn and others, Lawrence Kao couldn't decide whether he wanted to portray a serious character or a comedic one. I had to finish because I was halfway into it. Hopefully the next season will be much better.

I agree with this completely especially the flashes of brilliance....

The bones of an outstanding American martial arts series are there.... but I wouldn’t be against either a new show runner or new writers. Definitely a bigger budget.

Warrior is the far superior show....

But this isn't bad. The fighting is legit... and I read that Summer Glau is in this.. So I pushing through.

It's just the dialogue and the way that it's shot are killing me.

Yeah this joint is garbage. The fighting it wasted on the dialog and story.

I saw the cast and first thing I thought was how are they gonna address this Indonesian cat amongst the Chinese folks and they address that REAL quick. Like in the first 15min!

There are good actors, but the direction that they are given is very lack luster.
