Netfix: OZARK Season 4 Discussion Thread (spoilers) (season 4 trailer!!) (drops 1/21/2022)

I don't know. I enjoy the writing and acting on the show, but Ben tripping had me wishing he caught that rona. I thought he was gonna flip when his other "guy" took over, instead he suckered on pussy.

And the lack of communication between Wendy and Marty is annoying. Get your shit together. You're a team. Your life could end at any moment at the hands of the cartel and you wanna make power moves independent of each other????? Wendy should have been the one to get kidnapped to Mexico. She needed to see more of that lifestyle live and direct. Maybe that would have given her pause.

Show is cool and all but so fucking unrealistic.
They get kidnapped every episode.
They all would have been killed a long time ago.
Everyone just fucks up so much it is unrealistic.

No no. Don't do that here. This sort of criticism is only reserved for black shows like power

Haven't been reading just posting occasionally, I know I am SUPER behind...just started episode 10.... no spoilers, but that mfkr was campaigning for that election at least 2 episodes.... I mean damn!

Now to see how they wrap the rest of this up.

Sn: Charlotte was the absolute worst in season 1....damn proud of her this season....the way she handled Erin and Jonah...it wasn't all perfect but damn much improved over season 1...and maybe her shortened screentime helped

The actor that played Ben, at first I thought it was actor John Malkovich in heavy makeup or CGI like they did in the Irishman.

Dude looked just like John Malkovich and his acting was on par with him.

Then I was like where did I see him before and remembered he co-starred in Netflix Iron Fist.

Bunker on Banshee!

All Symbols for Ozark 3 (from my notes COLIN ALERT)

Episode 1: Wartime
-Deck Of Cards: The high stakes poker game where Ruth threw out Frank Cosgrove Jr
-Slot Machine: Marty and Wendy's first casino Commercial
-Milk Carton: When wendy broke in her old house while the new residents where there, she took the milk carton out the fridge and put food coloring in it.
-Guitar: Unknown

Guitar = REO Speedwagon
The dentist wanted the band in order to hold their conference at the casino

How much time has passed "in" the show since the first season? Cuz Jonah can't be 14 for 4 yrs

I can't see how this show has more than one season left. Navarro is near impossible to please, and it seems he eliminates people when he's done with them. The Byrdes just don't seem to have the stomach to hang with him, so they'll have to kill him or die. If another major drug lord hasn't been able to kill him what chance do they have? Besides there is that whole "crime doesn't pay" thing and they've killed or caused the death of so many other people they have to get it eventually.
I think in this case Navarro was done for. He was losing the war. They didn't show it, but I think it was Marty getting the feds to take down the other
Cartel that stopped Navarro from getting killed, and he knows it.

I avoided this thread like the 'Rona....

I was having issues with my 'Flix.... my wife finally got through to chat support. Turns out a mfkr in China hacked our shit....

Anyway... I'm just looking at this now and the first episode is wild and I'm barely 30 mins in....
You are in for a treat. This show goes hard AF. Especially if you are on the first season...oh, you mean avoided this thread like the Rona, so you don't get any spoilers? Yeah I watched this whole shit the weekend it came out.

Yeah, I avoided this thread/ spoilers.... I banged it out tho...

I agree with everything you said. Still it was a bad look to do that to Helen with such glee in front of Marty and Wendy. He could have yanked her chain and simply moved the Byrdes up. The message was loud and clear, when he'd done with you its like you never existed. Marty and Wendy won't be able to reconcile that. They aren't made that way, are they? :dunno:

He was 13 in Seasons 1 and 2. The second season picked up just a few hours after the first ended Because Darlene cremated Del's body in the woods. and they was trying to cover up his disappearance. Season 3 took place 6 months later.... Jonah birthday must of been between that time

Wendy's family has mental illness in it and she shows signs that she can be ambitious to a fault..to the point of doing ruthless shit and trying to
justify it in her mind..that's mental illness in a way too. She's not completely well. It shows in the way she actually was looking at Navaro..a stone cold killer..as her friend/business partner. No really sound female (if there is such a thing lol) would buy into that. They do have a major problem. But they have been finding a way to stay alive since the beginning. Remember in the first season they had to keep trying to make that money..finding different ways to make money when everything was going to shit..and their lives were on the line. Together they are too smart for Navaro and much like the others..Helen and the first kingpin Darlene killed...they will most likely outlive him because of some slick way they come up with to stay alive

Wendy has changed a lot, and you're right she is getting worse. Last season she called the hit on Cade Langmore, and decided to pass on Marty's plan to get them all out of the country, which surprised me. She does have a competitive or ambitious streak that drives her. It caused her to start the feud back up with Darlene over Mason's son instead of letting it go. What she did to her brother was whoooa. Now she has to go home and deal with Jonah who seems to have some low level of mental illness his self. Can't wait.

Just finished 3rd season and all the women kept the men fucked up.

Seems like they tried to do a Breaking Bad meets We're the Millers.

To many hot heads and fuck ups to be in a Billion dollar business.

But the therapist in the McClaren was hilarious.

She bought a McClaren and then asked for more money.....how did she think it would end?

Not gonna lie, after he initially paid her off, I thought the twist was she wasn't a real therapist

My biggest gripe with Ozark has been the portrayal of the black characters. For example why does the dude have to be gay it’s like every black man on TV have to be gay or bisexual. And why is old girl damn near eight or nine months pregnant getting ready to pop still working this fucking case..? I mean what is the importance of having her be pregnant? why couldn’t she just be a single woman working. Shit kinda rubbed me the wrong way.
I think the male agent being gay and having been in a relationship with the dead agent is to show how he's too emotionally attached to the case. I can see the female agent getting killed right before or as she has her baby. Maybe Wendy ends up with her kid since she can't get Zeke?

Helen was dead the moment we saw her getting waterboarded. She tried to prove she was not a liability to her boss and overreached. Meanwhile Wendy and Marty showed what they were made of, so Helen was of no more use.

That...surprised me more. And Wendy and Marty did stand up to the boss so he actually admired that instead of them bootlicking. Still, shit was wild.

Just finished binge watching all 3 seasons.

This is the best show I've ever seen!!!!!!

Perfectly cast in all areas. I knew Helen was a goner, but dammit, that shit was brutal and all of a sudden.

Excellent writing. Show gets a 10/10 from me.

I initially watched half the first episode then turned it off. When the pandemic came I gave it another try and one of the best shows

Ozark Returning for Two-Part Fourth and Final Season
Will the gamble pay off?

Netflix has announced that its Emmy Award-nominated family crime drama, Ozark, will return for a fourth and final season that will be split into two parts.

Season four of Ozark will be 14 episodes long, with each part consisting of 7 episodes. It’s a finale format previously used for big critical hits such as Breaking Bad and Mad Men.

The final season will once again be executive produced by showrunner and writer Chris Mundy and star Jason Bateman. Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan, and Lisa Emery will all reprise their roles.

In our review of Ozark Season 3, we noted that it’s still one of TV’s best crime dramas, with Jason Bateman and Laura Linney offering consistently excellent performances. Hopefully this final season will give the Byrde family the send-off they deserve.
