Edwards finished the season strong, but when Ball came back after the injury, it was going to be difficult to catch him because he built up the big early lead. Coming out of the all-star break, Ball was leading all rookies in total points, rebounds and assists. He was also way more efficient as a scorer, higher PER, etc. Too many times Ball was doing shit that only Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, and Oscar Robertson had done as a rookie. I figured Ball was going to get it a long time ago.

I think either call was fine. It's just when you start doing things that only Wilt has done, the narrative is beginning to be set. Edwards balled out I just figured he didn't quite do enough to wrestle it away down the stretch. I thought he was going to get it though when Ball got injured because I didn't think Ball was going to come back this season.
