<<<N.Y.C Job Opportunity......>>>

Lmao at Jay Ringo

Stop being a Debby downer man

And smh at y'all talkin bout shit takes away from your family life

Try being forced to work 16 hrs a day for 4 days a week back to back to back

What's the train operator schedule like?

I'm assuming a 12-9 is a mofo jumping in front of the train lol

These pessimistic dudes on here kill me.....Every job you away from your Family.....when you first start as a Train Operator....some days you might be on the Board (no assigned job) for 8 hours or within those 8 hours...you can be sitting for 4 or 5hrs then pick up a entire job for another 8 or 9....cant work past 16hrs!!! but when you get to pick a Job....then your job is what ever hours you picked to start

come on flat u know damn well they push them RDO'S and that money be good and next thing you know u working all the time. u have no kids or wife so u dont know and you live in NY, i commute outta state. its a good job but its very stressful and its a health hazard. im not trying to discourage no one just stating the facts. i told ppl the same shit when i was at amtrak

Bullshit Job?........Everyone is entitled to there own Opinion!!!! There is Alot of fellow co workers that have degrees....Such as myself...and for the 12-9's and signal overruns and breathing in toxins....there people who go there whole careers without neither of the 2 happening....toxins....i live in NYC...so we breathe some fucked up shit already.....stop with the pessimistic opinions and let people see for themselves.....I enjoy the Job....But do i see myself staying a Train Operator.....No....Im still young and will move up or move on to where ever the $$$ is....SO TO EACH.......ITS OWN!!!

it is a bs job, because you learn no transferable skills point blank. like you said two each is own. I know 3 t/o and 2 disp that came back from TSS cuz it was bs. I know a neu appointed supt. going back to TSS cuz of the bs. The job has changed for the worst :(

IMO IT IS NOT A B.S. JOB. I HAVE BEEN WITH TRANSIT GOING ON 19+ YEARS. THESE JOBS ARE SET UP IN ORDER FOR YOU TO EITHER STAY DOING THE SAME THING WHICH IS NOT A BAD THING OR YOU MAY USE IT AS A STEPPING STONE TO THE MANY OTHER POSITIONS IN TRANSIT THAT YOU CAN GET INTO THAT MAY NOT EVEN HAVE TO DO WITH YOU EVEN DRIVING THE TRAIN OR EVEN STEPPING FOOT IN THE TUNNELS AT ALL..
130 LIVINGSTON, 180 LIVINGSTON, 2 BROADWAY AND THE MANY OTHER LOCATIONS TRANSIT EITHER OWNS OR RENT HAVE NICE CUSHY JOBS THAT YOU MAY ONLY GET BY CLIMBING THE LADDER..

interesting. my boy works from transit and says as quiet a kept a lot of bothers die in a few years once they retire from the toxins in the tunnel.

NOT 100% THE TOXINS FAULT. ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT (WHETHER RESPIRATORY, INFECTIOUS WASTE OR FOR SOME PHYSICAL TASK) IS PROVIDED BY TRANSIT FOR THE WORKERS TO USE. AND THERE IS NO SUPERVISOR THAT CAN MAKE YOU WORK IN AN UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT. IF YOUR WORKING IN TUNNELS STRETCHING MANY MILES WITH ANY NUMBER OF AIRBORNE VIRUSES OR GERMS AND YOU REFUSE TO WEAR THE PROVIDED MASK OR GOGGLES THAT'S ON YOU. NOT TO MENTION WE ARE SOME OF THE MOST NON EXERCISING MOFO'S AROUND. COMBINE THAT WITH NOT PROPERLY TAKING CARE OF OURSELVES ON THE REGULAR WHETHER DRINKING PARTYING OR WHATEVER THE JOB ONLY KILLS YOU IF YOU LET IT. I HAVE SEEN SOME MEN AND WOMEN RETIRE LOOKING LIKE THEY ARE IN THERE 20's. ALSO EVERY YEAR WE ARE OFFERED A FREE EXAM OUTSIDE OF OUR INSURANCE FOR THESE EXACT REASONS...

OSHA needs to investigate this shit..

OSHA IS ON TOP OF A LOT OF SHIZZZ IN TRANSIT AND HAVE HELPED THE WORKERS IN MANY WAYS TO HAVE BETTER WORKING CONDITIONS, BECAUSE TRANSIT ALONE COULD GIVE A RATS ASS ABOUT THE WORKER. AS LONG AS THE METRO CARD IS SWIPED AND THE MONEY IS IN THE BANK THEY ARE GOOD.

A TRANSIT JOB IS NOT BAD AT ALL. IT'S ALL WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT, AND YOUR GOALS AND PLANS BEFORE TAKING THE JOB. AND YES WHEN YOU START YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS, BUT IF YOU HAVE A FAMILY AND THE GOAL IS TO BETTER FOR THEM THEN THERE ARE SACRIFICES TO BE MADE BY EVERYONE..
DEPENDING ON THE JOB YOUR IN YOU ARE BASICALLY DOING THE SAME THING AT ONE POINT OR ANOTHER EVERYDAY.
AS FAR AS DISCIPLINE GOES, JUST LIKE WITH ANY JOB YOU SHOULD KEEP A GOOD ATTENDANCE AND CONDUCT RECORD SO IF SOMETHING DOES HAPPEN THE CARDS PLAY MORE IN YOUR FAVOR. THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW JOBS THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO BE AN IDIOT TO GET FIRED FROM..

transit haters either dont know, got fired or heard someone elses horror story... tell me a job thats all rainbows and cotton candy.... transit pays my bills and lets me and my family live comfortably

i'm a T/O in the b division.... where is everyone else?

i still have my class B license

when i retire i will move over to transit Mabstoa

Aye Flatbush and other MTA heads,
Just got my letter in the mail for the hearing and vision exam at the office in Downtown BK. I wanted to know how long the process takes before you actually have the job? The other question I have is about pension. How much time do you have to put in before you become eligible? Is it age Any info you guys can offer would be appreciated..

Been on the job 12 yrs and know of atleast 15 ppl who werent even retired that died. The number of ppl that retired and died shortly after is crazy. Even Big Tigger's dad who was a T/O died shortly after retirement.

Today I have officially been sworn in as a train operator.

After working in health care for 18 years and working my way up to management position, it feel good to change professions. I'm currently 35 years old, so this will be another positive life experience for me. Perfect timing as well!

There are more MTA test coming up this year, including train operator. So head over to the MTA website and file away!

Once again I would like to say thank you to FlatbushNicca for posting this information six years ago. I owe you, a gift will arrive!

Congrats bruh. My uncle is an operator, be doing it for 15 years. It's great money

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. I will keep everyone updated for sure. Thanks.

Just an update:

After three months of school car (aka boot camp). I finally arrived to where I will be putting my skills to use for the next two months. I'm currently in the YX stage of school car, performing station switching, relays, and other yard duties.

I must say school car is no joke. There's a lot more to learn than just operating a train. There was a total of ten students in my class, and seven of us made it through to this point.

I can't complain... The pay is good, and the amount of time and money the MTA has spent, to try and ensure we become successful train operators and employees was much more than I expected.

Once again, much respect and props to FlatbushNicca, for posting this thread! Check you PM for a Amazon E-Gift Card. Thank you!

Congrats fam...happy to hear u doing well. Continued success let us know how it progresses.

I love the MTA but I'm a Bus Operator (4 years)They had the promotion exam for T/O but I'd rather stay above ground I think $1 less an hour but I hook my days off, vacation, weekends, I dont have to work a holiday if I don't have to :D

That's great, I don't think I can do the streets for too long... I hate traffic. Starting pay for TO is thirty one and change. Either way I'm glad your doing well.

Yo how the job coming along?

It's cool, I'm in work trains now. ( the big diesel trains with the flats and sometimes cranes that you see at night hauling stuff ).
Making six figures with OT and extras, but I miss my trucking co.
Think im going to look back into starting my trucking Co again.

That's great. Once I get comfortable with the job, I will be hitting the works trains as well. My boy is a work train supervisor in the A division. Mucho money...
